  • A New Valentine's Dining Experience
    OpenTable Diner Since 2006
    Dined on 2/14/2013
We had the chef's Valentine's Day tasting special. The meal included items that we had never tried before and would not have normally ordered such as beef tongue, salmon roe, and shrimp in banana puree. It also included more traditional dishes like short ribs along with several desserts. We decided to be adventurous and give it a try. It was really good. The food was great and provided us with a new dining experience. We also appreciated the complimentary rose and glass of champagne.

We attended for our Mom's birthday. The staff were very friendly. It is buffet or ala carte on Sunday, so we decided to try the breakfast buffet. The food was good and was only $17 a person. I will definitely come back to this place.

We were there for my husband's birthday. He ordered the rib eye and said it was one of the best steaks he had ever had. I ordered the Chef's Midnight Run and thought it was very good. We split one of the large salads and it was still tremendous!!!

I took my grandma and mother to Texas Spice when they wanted to come into town to celebrate my 21st birthday. It was classy enough for my grandma, and still swanky enough for me. Our waitress, Rita was phenomenal. She knew everything there was to know about the menu, and she made it clear that she loved being there and was so happy to serve us. The chef came out with a slice of chocolate cherry cheesecake for my birthday, and the bartender accompanied him with a birthday "shot" of my own. Everybody was happy, knowledgable, and made us all feel very comfortable.

This restaurant is just okay. While it is attractive the menu is odd, as if it is trying to be unique but it just doesn't cut it. The food was average to bland depending on what you select. The service, however, is excellent

Beautiful dining atmosphere with very creative wood designs and lighting! A little loud but great place for lunch but service was not the best. Not enough servers and it was crowded. Could do better with checking on the table and brought our check before we had even started our meal! NEVER do that. WE did get dessert and the milk and cookies were amazing. The meal was awesome and will go back with out of towners for sure. Too many greeters at the front desk. Over crowded when you came in and not professional.

Excellent lunch choice. Great buffet @$17 including chicken fried waygu beef and loads of interesting veggies and salads as well as other tasty entrees. Service was attentive, accommodating, but never intrusive. Will definitely return. Also, don't miss the hotel gift shop for any Christmas gifts still on your list or anytime you want to find creative and unusual gifts. Only problem, the valet park @$12 was much too expensive, so look for the SELF-PARK sign as you drive in and take that.

Have been here for brunch and food is always good. So we decided to take my daughter to dinner for her birthday.Made a reservation got to the restaurant table wasn't ready. Waited 15 minutes for the table to get prepared. We were seated and here is where things got worse. Sat down and after about 15 minutes no server.Had to go to the hostess stand to ask for the manager. Got a server he was ok took a while for him to come back and check on the table. All in all if some one asks me about it I wouldn't recommend thia place for dinner.

We arrived promptly at 5, our reservation time. Had to wait 15 minutes for them to set up a table. There were only a few people in the restaurant at that hour and most were at the bar. Our waitress had little knowledge of the menu. She was very nice, though. Service was very slow. We ordered 1 pizza to split between all of us for an appetizer. Some members of my party liked their meals. Three of us had chicken fried steak but the breading had no seasoning, and the meat was still bloody in places. Mashed potatoes were very good. We did not order dessert. It was 6:30 by the time we walked out of the restaurant. Way too disorganized and slow.

This place was great for mine and my wifes anniversary. I asked them to do something simple for our anniversary and to show up having the biggest table with flowers, cables and chocolate covered strawberries that said happy anniversary was over the top! Great food and excellent service. Not a huge menu which I personally think is better cause it keeps desisions simple.

I had the Mokara Spa omelette and it was awful - it literally tasted like chewing cloth on the outside and like a weird foam on the inside - i barely ate it and stuck to the toast and my side of avocado. Possibly the worse omelette I've ever had. Service was slow and we had a spa appointment to get to, otherwise i would have stopped the waiter to let him know. My friend had the same thing and also barely touched hers for the same reason.

I brought my boyfriend here to celebration his promotion and we really enjoyed ourselves. The food is great.. especially the spiced fruit cobbler. The staff is very friendly. On my reservation, I requested an indoor table with a great view of the Bank of America Plaza (the green building) and they graciously accommodated it. The atmosphere is pretty relaxed. The patio is a nice place to enjoy a drink and the view of downtown.

My wife and I were attending an event at the Dallas Convention Center and thought that Texas Spice would be a good spot to eat at because of it's proximity to the Convention Center. We enjoyed our food, but it was a busy night, and you could tell the restaurant is not accustomed to handling so many people. Service was genuine and friendly, but fairly slow. We went to Texas Spice for dinner, on the 4th of July. This happened to be one of the few restaurants that was open that day. We tried the dinner buffet. The selections and food was good, nothing out of the ordinary. We ordered a couple of drinks and they turned out fine. The restaurant changes an automatic 18% gratuity on the buffet, even for parties with 2 adults and a 4 year old. For that level for gratuity the service is definitely lacking - it was slow and erroneous. We were initialy charged for our 4 year old, after bringing that to the attention of the waiter he took it off, but still somehow managed to keep the original gratuity amount on it. So, another round of corrections, before we could pay and be out of there.

I had lunch at their lunch buffet a few days ago and the food was exceptional, so I brought a friend for dinner. Food was good but not nearly as delicious as it was at lunch and the waiter spoke so softly we had a hard time hearing him. I ordered the vegetarian meal for health and it was in a butter/cream sauce, and since I told the waiter I was passing on the chicken to keep my cholesterol down, I feel he might have told me how it was prepared and he just didn't pick up on that. We really like the ambiance and the hotel and want this place to work.
