I have been ever on the hunt for a good sushi spot in SF - which in my mind is fresh fish, quick service and reasonably priced. Barracuda is somewhere I have been meaning to try for some time and was very happy I finally made it there. Our whole group commented how fresh, unusal without being over the top the options were. Highly recco the salmon or tuna sampler - not a great price but a fun experience and so fun to taste different variations side by side. Go to Barracuda you won't be disappointed.

This place is alternately far too noisy or a quiet gem, it really depends on the night (and that is totally unpredictable). It's fantastic for large groups! The rolls are slightly overpriced (you can get the same quality for less at other places in the Castro), but the premium on the food is worth it if you're in a large group or you care about having a well-decorated environment.

Interesting sushi menu but the result was under our expectactions. Fresh products ok, today specials tuna tartare just fine, sushi signature quite basic without explosion in mouth. Btw noodles were good .

Music way too loud, as usual there. Makes conversation difficult and strained. Hard surfaces just magnify the stereo and ambient noise. And Barracuda was only about 1/4 full that night. On crowded nights, the noise is unbearable.

  • Great Food and Fun, but COLD

I eat at Barracuda relatively often and love the food and atmosphere. The only challenge we had this time around was the weather. We were seated right by the door and with a cold breeze, it was freezing the entire time. Closing the door helped significantly, but the staff kept opening it up again, saying it gets stuffy in the back and so they need to keep it open to get air circulating. I get it, but then they need to do something to prevent customers sitting near the door from freezing. They did wrap a curtain around the door which luckily helped our side, but did nothing for people sitting on the other side of the door.

Barracyda is good for happy hour. I've been there during happy hour. I would take the 2 organization that I host events for. I noticed that it is kid friendly but their entrees are too expensive for the portion of thinly ribeyed steak they provide. The Barracuda roll was delicious. Story behind the expensive entree: My boyfriend had the thinly sliced rib eyed stead and shrimp and tempura entree. The entree hardly had any meat. At $20, I would rather go get a NY steak at moderately priced American Restaurant... So please... Barracuda Restaurant be more generous to your customers and give more meat.

  • Poor service
    OpenTable Diner Since 2012
    Dined on 5/25/2012
The service was terrible. I specifically made a reservation for 20 at 7:30pm. We arrived right on the dot and the hostess hesitated as it was obvious she wasn't ready for our group. She tells us we can sit in the back tables which obviously could only seat 12 people or wait for the group to finish at another table and seat us then. Of course we had to reluctantly wait as all 20 of us needed seats. The group of people took 30 minutes to divide their check among themselves and we were finally seated. I did NOT appreciate this unorganized, unprepared service of Barracuda. We did not get an apology at all. I did NOT make reservations weeks in advance to have to wait 30 minutes, especially since it was for a birthday.

  • Excellent San Francisco Sushi Bar
    OpenTable Diner Since 2012
    Dined on 4/13/2012
Barracuda Sushi was one of the best sushi places I have been to, and definitely deserves a spot among SF's top sushi bars. The food was excellent, with just enough of a twist from "traditional" sushi to be enjoyable, without overdoing it as some fusion restaurants do. However, be prepared for a wait, even with reservations, as the place is usually packed, and don't be fooled by the seemingly cheap menu prices (around $7-$13 a roll). The food is excellent, but the servings are small, so expect to order at least two if you are hungry. Either way, Barracuda Sushi is definitely worth your money, and I highly recommend going for any occasion

I had a large group dinner (18 people) here on a Friday night and it was very spacious to accommodate the group size. The food was very fresh with great presentation. The waitress was very nice and service was good. I would definitely come back. Although the price a little high the quality was very much matching. I would love to come back and try their Happy Hour some time. Cheers!

For starters, I'm a sushi snob, so I'm quite picky. That said, I ordered all a la carte, and all sashimi, while my friends the prix fix for 6-8 people, which was a pretty good bargain. All of the food was better than acceptable -- meaning I liked it. No complaints at all. Service was fine, but I appreciate a waiter that stops by once in while or at least looks over frequently so that I'm not craning my neck for five minutes to get a glass of wine. FWIW, the waiter was *HOT*...LOL...professional and friendly. The space is pretty and the noise level is nice -- meaning not too loud but not dead either. I chose this restaurant specifically because we were a group of 7 and I didn't want to hassle with a small venue. This worked out w

Barracuda was a restaurant I have enjoyed for years. I've celebrated family and friends' occasions ; and met up with friends for many epic Wednesdays. I've even successfully entertained finicky colleagues because the staff, service and the food was always consistently wonderful. From the sushi to grilled food, all we're artfully presented with all the right temperatures. I was a true advocate. On my last visit, i have experienced a whole new restaurant with slow impersonable waiters, sad cold food from the kitchen(mash potatoes with ribeye looked like a mess and was served lukecold), & less than quality sashimi. I won't be back unless I hear of good change.

I go here frequently with a small group of ladies for happy hour and it's great. After going there every week for a few months you would think the servers would get to know us, but they act like they have never seen us before. We are good tippers and usually tip at least 20% as a standard, but when the service is just ok... hmmm... We are starting to look for other weekly spots to go.

Service spotty, we were overcharged on our check. When brought to the server's attention she shared the price had gone up but the menu hadn't been reprinted, but kindly showed us microprint on the back of the menu saying "prices subject to change without notice." WTF? She took the overcharge off the check then shared we had to leave because we had stayed the allowed 90 minutes for their brunch bottomless mimosa. What might Barracuda have in store for you if you have the misfortune of eating at this petty, average food at best local eatery?

I asked to be moved an they said they had a full house, but I've been there before without reservations and have been better served. Maybe it was just the hostess that day. The server that usually serves us is an asian woman in her early 30's or late 20's an she is amazing!
