We enjoyed our lunch very much. Prices were not too expensive - not much more than what we pay for a comparable meal at home. Decor is very nice - particularly like the display of white dishes. Perfect place after visiting the museum. Also good location for dining from outside if you don't have to pay admission if you are not going to the museum. Enjoyed our meal.

It is rare that everything on the menu is so appealing that it is difficult whether to stick with my favorite pappardelle, or try another of their appealing dishes. Really interesting menu. Charming decor placing you in Sweden( even with Italian name and menu!), with shelves of white dishes on all the walls and large brass chandeliers. Relatively quiet, as tables are placed far apart! A winner!

We like Caffe Storico. We like to come for early Sunday dinner at 6:30 or late weekday lunch when it is less crowded. Food is always good. We liked the grilled octopus salad, cod appetizer, roast pork. Service can be inconsistent. It is hard to know who is overseeing the large very attractive room. On Sunday we waited for half an hour between appetizers and main course. We had to remind the waitress about a second drink order. We hadi requested a quiet table and the hostess brought us to the line of tables for two where the servers go back and forth. Hardly quiet. We asked for one of the many empty tables for four as you first enter the room. After checking her book we were given one. A long two hours later and two were still empty.

On repeated dining, have found the food, from appetizers on, very tasty and well presented. The setting is casual and relaxed and the service is prompt. The noise level, when crowded, is a bit high, making us talk loudly to be heard =which of course further raises the noise level. The open kitchen also contributes to the noise. Nonetheless, when attending the historical society for an exhibit or special event, we stop to eat there. I don't want to exaggerate the problem; it's far from being the noisiest in NYC.

I loved the lightness of the room and the decor. It's wonderful to be able to go into the museum and the store from the cafe . My salad plate was filled with heaps of green and very very little artichokes ; so it was disappointing. The olive plate was wonderful . Overall a nice experience

I had even here 3 times over a few years, but it had probably been almost a year since my last visit. Went for dinner on (good) Friday night. Our waiter wasn't the nicest guy and then after placing a second order for drinks, just disappeared. After about 20 minutes, I asked the maître d what was up and he did promptly wait on our table himself, but it was weird. Finally ordered dinner and food was good, but not great like before. Skate was really salty, apps were good , but not amazing like before. Long story, but restaurant seemed more interested in getting us out vs. letting us have a fun, relaxed evening.

Cafe Storico does not fail to deliver an outstanding lunch. The grilled chicken panini was superlative. The restaurant can be noisy due to the wood floor and marble table tops, but you can still hear conversation at the table, and the energy of the room is uplifting.

The decor was lovely-all the plates in the cabinets on the walls were amazing. Nice choice of wines/soft drinks/coffee and the bellinis were delicious. The eggs benedict were probably the best both myself and my friend have ever had. In a lovely spot on the edge of central park inside the NY historical society and was very busy with a wide range of clientele, familes, couples of all age and groups. Would definitely go back for brunch, lunch or dinner.

A very pretty room, nice but limited menu, energetic noise level at times disconcerting due to sound bouncing off all the hard surfaces. I really appreciated the thought and care that went into the cooking but at these prices the tomatoes in the salad should have been ripe. The real star of the meal was a sort of fennel pretzel in the bread basket: I would go back for these alone.

The grilled chicken in the salad was dry and tasteless. Friends who ordered the proscuitto sandwich were looking for the meat; there were 2 paper thin slices of meat. Needless to say, not satisfying. While the cafe is convenient to museum goers, it's best just to have a coffee break there, if you're able to get a seat.

Went with five others for a birthday dinner. The food, as usual, was just wonderful. The ricotta Cristina and mezzaluna are both so delicious. This time we had a few desserts that were perfect - salted caramel chocolate gelato, green apple sorbetto and blood orange sorbetto were spring-like - fresh and tangy. This has got to be one of the nicest rooms I've been in. It's warm, yet bright and fresh. Exceedingly tasteful.

We recently met friends there for lunch. It is located inside the NY Historical Society. It is a great spot to meet after a lecture or if you just want good food in a vibrant setting. This was our second time there and we will definitely go back. We had a reservation as it was a Saturday. Weekend reservations make a lot of sense especially for lunch. We all tried different dishes and enjoyed a variety of chef's creations that tasted like inspired cooking.

Hidden right there in plain sight at the New York Historical Society, what looks like a tastefully decorated and uber-cute museum cafe is in fact a top-notch foodie haven. The menu is Italian, but with lots of creativity and modern flare. Service was friendly and attentive and the staff was really on top of things. And the food... let's just say I'm usually a light eater, but had to let it go at this place. Too many good things. Also, the wine list has a great selection of Italian wines - even if you only go with by-the-glass selections, there's a lot of variety there.

What a lovely restaurant. We're from out of town and went here (to meet some friends) on a recommendation. We had both excellent service and an excellent meal. The room is really beautiful .. looking up at the shelves of white china so beautifully lit across the walls (up to the ceiling) was fabulous - well designed. We had a lot of dishes (we shared a pasta with duck - outstanding!), 2 salads, 3 seafood and 1 chicken. Everyone was very pleased. Large servings. A wonderful blood orange sorbet ended a perfect evening. Restaurant is very loud - otherwise 100% satisfied and will go back.

My husband and I had Sunday brunch. We both had orange juice; and I had hot tea and he had cappuccIno. We finished our beverages and the food had not yet arrived. We waited 20 minutes - I ordered the eggs-over with bacon and potatoes and unfortunately the eggs were overcooked. My husband ordered the eggs benedict and again the eggs were overcooked. Neither one of us was offered a refill of our coffee/tea. So disappointing.
