A word from Dio Deka
Michelin star recipient San Francisco Bay & Wine country for 2011 & 2012.

"At Dio Deka the refined and technically precise Greek and Mediterranean dishes are elevated to stellar levels.”- anonymously by the Michelin inspector

"…vividly flavored, brilliantly executed food, that transcends ethnicity but still tastes Greek…”- Gourmet Magazine

Award of Ultimate Distinction- Wine Enthusiast, Restaurant Awards

“memorable modern Greek cuisine" that “would make them jealous in Athens”, particularly when paired with an “extensive wine list” worthy of Dionysus; the five owners provide “over-the-top” service in the spirit of filoxenia (the art of hospitality) for what’s sure to be a "big fat Greek night" out. - Zagat

We'd heard a lot of hype about this restaurant but felt that is was "just OK", not a great value. We probably won't be back just because there are so many local restaurants that we feel are a better all around experience.

Jeremy was our server and he did a terrific job. While we might have gone elsewhere on the menu based on the descriptions, his recommendations proved to better on more than one occasion. A good example of that was on the yogurt dessert; it sounded just OK, but when we tried it we were really quite impressed. It was very unique and special, but didn't sell itself that well on the menu.

The food was good quality. The chef had a very fancy take on Greek standards, and overall it was quite expensive - $400 for 4 with tax and tip. The Los Gatos Hotel location is very nice - sort of an old world Mediterranean feel, the dining roon is spacious and pleasant, and the server was very knowledgeable. I would have been happy with a little less of the fanciness, and didn't care for the moussakka being served in a bowl of broth. Overall, the food was tasty and the service pleasant.

We love love love DD & frequent it often. I was thrilled to see so many new additions to the menu. I had the chicken breast which was terrific. The dish had great flavor & the chicken was perfectly cooked- very tender & juicy. Unfortunately, the potatoes/sauce were oversalted. I downed two glasses of water after eating it! The potatoes were a little mushy too. Our scalloped wrapped bacon starter was overcooked & had a such strong bottom-of-the-ocean flavor, I wondered if it had gone bad. It got so loud as our meal progressed, we found ourselves yelling across the table "WHAT?? I can't hear you!" (Not great for date night!) I wish something could be done about the noise level. If not for the above criticisms I would have given it all 5 stars

The restaurant gives you an upscale feeling, and the manager was very nice and very family friendly. The Lamb chop was delicious, but the fish was not the "highest high"? Mussaka was impressive. The dessert was just too big of volume after we have taken the family course! To frequent this restaurant, personally I would like to see the price go down a little, please open for weekend lunch for the reason of health:)--it is heavy, authentic, excellent food, but just too much for dinner.. However, thanks for the nice dinning experience.

Its a pity more restaurants don't get acoustical consultation. Dio Deka would engender a fantastic evening out if I could hear my dinner partner. All it would take is some soft baffles in each corner. The noise ruins an otherwise fine restaurant.

The food was excellent and the service quite good. We xferred our bar bill over to the table and I was not pleased to get the check with the auto tip being applied without notice for a party of four or that they took the bar bill and included that into the tip price, while i left a tip at the bar when we went in to eat.. very loud

It is noisy- so don't expect a quiet romantic scene. best greek food in the bay area. go hungry everything is wonderful and portion sizes are enough to fill you up- not like the new fusion places where you leave hungry! do not miss this place- it worth going back and back and back. dont forget lunch either! they have GREAT lunch items . Food and service were excellent. I have dined here on several occasions. One time had dinner in the bar as a table was unavailable (we had no reservations and they serve their full menu in the bar so that was no problem). The food is truly memorable and excellent. My Greek friend and I dined there one night and she thought their version of Spanikopita was better than her mother's! Everything is fresh with lots of flavor. On a recent dinner with another couple celebrating her BD the waiter spent a bit too much time going through all the menu but that was a small inconvenience and most often the service is outstanding. Definitely worth a trip to LG and make a reservation as word is getting out about this fabulous restaurant.

We are empty-nesters who are dedicated to locating unique restaurants in the Bay Area. Dio Deka will be recommended to all of our friends and family because the food and service is excellent! When we expressed concern about being a bit chilly the hostess did not hesitate to seat us near the fireplace and she mentioned that she would tell management as well (another couple near us were also reseated for the same reason). Shortly thereafter the air conditioning was readjusted. Dio Deka also inspired us to book a room and spa services at the hotel for this weekend. Our compliments to the chef, the staff, and Heather our waitress!

It was a THU night and the restaurant was packed. We were seated promptly and asked for a drink order. Took about 10 minutes for the wine to come out. Once we had wine, it took about 15 minutes to actually get a food order placed, then 22 more minutes (yes, I was looking at my watch) to get the meal. Given the number of wait staff, service should've been more prompt. Didn't observe front-of-house people helping them out, either. The decor is beautifully restful, although we found the overall level of noise from conversation and a particularly annoying bit-too-loud music system a bit much. The food and presentation were incredible. We recommend the nice "special" of snapper. Dessert was also wonderful.

We pick up our eyeballs after our lunch bill came. $100 lunch bill WITHOUT drinks! Here's what $100 (incl. tip) buys you here for lunch: Appy: Kalamarakia Gemista: Exactly 3 small seafood-stuffed 3" calamari [OK but seafood was strong-flavored and for $5 a bite???] Solomos: Grilled Salmon Salad served over spinach greens. Very good but the dressing was too tangy and the salmon was fishier than expected. Petani: Grilled fillet of Hawaiian Mahi Mahi, on a toasted rosemary focaccia and garlic-herb fries. I really liked this dish & the fries were fabulous but the avocado was not ripe and hard. Mill-Fay: Crisp puff pastry tower & 2 single Espressos. However the lunch quality was not worth the high cost.
