Fantastically mediocre. Nothing worth mentioning at all. I had to eat here repeatedly during a conference and never saw anything that looked better than edible. Greasy reuben, too-salty pasta, boring salads. Life's too short.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2007
    Dined on 4/21/2009
As a hotel with people comning and going, perhaps the menu serves its purpose. However, when we are repeat customers for at least five months of each year, we find it terribly restrictive and absolutely priced out of reason for an individual on a personal budget. I ordered a "small" fruitplate, a cup of soup, and iced tea. My bill with tax and tip came to $26.00. This is outrageous. If it weren't for the convenience of the hotel to Orchestra Hall we would never go there.

I was very disappointed with the food. Granted it was Valentine's day, but when the food is $50 per person I expect to taste better than wedding food. I went out on limb to try something new and thought I was going to a someplace on pare with the Hilton name. While I would say our experience at Skylight was bad, I truly expected our food to be better than decent.

A very nice experience. Attention by staff (from wait staff to manager to Chef)was wonderful. Presentation of food (i.e color, timing of courses -- all just fine). Booth light should have been turned down for more romantic (or even eevening) experience -- too much of a spot light.

We do not generally dine at the fancier restaurants, but this was a special occassion (Valentines Day) and I wanted something special for my wife. The entire staff was friendly, courteous, punctual, and readily answered all of our questions. We will definitely be going there again in the future.

The atmosphere was great. We went for the Santa Buffet, and Santa made sure to visit each table, with or without children. There was a cookie table to decorate their own cookies and the server was very helpful and cheery. There wasn't a line to see Santa and he spent about 10 minutes talking with our daughter. It was a very peaceful and relaxing way to spend the morning. Which, if you've every tried to get your child to Santa, you know is usually not the case.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2008

This place is your typical hotel style food and ambiance, in that you would only come here if you didn't want to leave the hotel since you were staying there. And lets face it sometimes we get lazy when we travel and don't want to think about where to walk and find food elsewhere. So in this case I would say the restaurant was just fine. However, you should keep in mind that there are plenty of wonderful places to eat near this hotel that are walking distance and within 3-4 blocks, so unless the Minnesota winter is really harsh while you are staying at this hotel would it be silly to think that you would have to try hard to eat somewhere better than this place.

I always frequent this restaurant when I am in the MSP area. Their Chicken Wild Rice soup is something that I look forward to every time. They have a new international menu that features "american" ingredients prepared with the flair of another country. I had the regional favorite Walleye fish, which was prepared Ecaudorian--delicious!

2 members of our party ordered crab cakes from the appetizer section. Priced at $15.00, and described as crab cakes (plural) they were extremely disappointed to find that there was only 1 crab cake. They both had ordered this item as their entree and also ordered a small salad, thinking this would be enough to be a meal. They were obviously disappointed. Skywater needs to amend the description on their menu and simply state that it is a crab cake (singular); and $15.00 is far too much to charge for this item. The remaining members of our party were satisfied with their meals.

The service was phenominal and the atmosphere very kid friendly. I requested in advance that we be seated near the kids play area and this request was planned for and available when we arrived. Also, my 2 year old wanted a chocolate donut, something not on the brunch buffet. The host ran to a convenient store in the skyway and bought him a chocolate donut. AMAZING service. They also offered to make the kids anything they wanted that was not on the buffet. We had an enjoyable mothers day brunch and the kids loved it too. We will reserve the same table next year.

However, when I saw that our $264 brunch, plus $43 gratuity was run thru my bank account at $369-a 20% or $62 INFLATION-I was not only surprised, but dismayed. I did contact the Hilton and they promised to look into it.
