Found it odd that they did not have any specials. What was posted on the website you found in hand. Soup was great but should offer cup or bowl. The bowl was too much for an appetizer but good for a light lunch with a saled. Over all it was a good experience that I would recommend to others.

I think they need more wait staff. Order a second glass of wine and did not come until the end of the meal, too busy to ask if our meal was OK. I like this restaurant a lot, but needs a little refining on wait staff. Food is very good, great location, and very nice wine.

This is our 8th time at Bazin's on Church and is our "special occasion" restaurant. We feel fortunate to have this particular restaurant in our neighborhood. I'm not sure what "foodies" are in the form above but we think their menu is excellent and offers a wide variety of innovative and delicious meals. The bar looks like great fun with the TV displaying the food channel - clever - and people enjoying themselves! Even though the bar is in the same room as the restaurant it is not a distraction. Seeing the owner walk around talking with customers gives this restaurant a friendly, homey feel yet it feels "hip" at the same time. The windows are fantastic! It may not be scenic but the view of our quaint Church Street is special to us.

  • It's hard to say anything
    OpenTable Diner Since 2004

It's hard to say anything but good things about the menu, food, service and wine selections. We always enjoy our evening at Bazins. The only challenge is the noise and it feels crowded while you are dining. We had a table beside the bar and people were walking and on top of us all evening. We also had the first sitting and felt a bit rushed. It has become very popular, thus the crowds. So it's not all bad, just a comment.

Personally, I am in love with this place. I am not into drinking wine so I can't comment on that or whether there's a vibrant bar scene, as I haven't been there during the evenings, but I love everything about it. The service, the people, the beautiful windows, ceiling, & architecture have all caught my eye and I will go there more and more as the occasions arise. I commend chef Bazin for putting together one of the cutest little restaurants that is elegant, cozy, fun, and overall very appealing in so many ways, especially because it is outside the city (Wash, DC) and not many places have the quality of "look and feel" that Bazin's has this far out.

We were seated 30 minutes later than our reservation time; the one bartender was inattentive -- we had to wait 15 minutes to get his attention and then be served a glass of wine. His first recommendation was awful; I requested something different. Generally, this is a good restaurant and the wait staff is excellent. It must have been an 'off night'...at least I hope so.

my chopped salad was very mediocre, I could've done better myself and for the price it was ridiculous. Fish dishes were good -mushroom crusted some kind of white fish with potatoes. Not memorable though. Not enough green/healthy vegie choices with the fish. Everything made with a rich side of potatoes or rice. There was a bit of discussion over whether they would provide a candle with desert for my husband's birthday. They did do it but are going to do away with candles. How sad.

We had an outstanding meal. The server (Fernanda) recommended a very good chardonnay for my husband, he loved it. Both of our meals were flawless, he had the swordfish and I had the seared scallops, as well as the chopped salad. The plate was attractive, the food was hot, the combination of flavors was just mouthwatering, and the service was top notch. We plan on coming back soon.

My wife and I usually dine in Arlington or DC but we were pleasantly surprised with the quality of Bazin's. The food was very good, the service was terrific, and the energy of the place made it feel like a downtown restaurant. It felt a bit cramped but I guess when you're the hottest place in town, that's to be expected. Overall, a great experience and we'll be back for sure.

  • Went for their New Year's
    VIRGINIA2600
    Dined on 12/31/2007
Went for their New Year's even price fixe. Hopefully this night is not demonstrative of their regular service. Food was awful - potato pancake tasted like frozen Gorton's. Waiter didn't even try to recall who ordered what, simply came to the table and held up plates until they were claimed. He was rude and condescending and only paid attention to the men in our party. We were rushed in, rushed out, they were obviously overbooked. A semi-upscale restaurant such as this should really allow more time and fewer people in each seating. I chose Bazin's and regretted dragging our entire party there for such an awful and expensive experience. I'm told I need to try it on a less busy evening, but I am skeptical that I'll be overly impressed

This restaurant is great! It is upscale yet you can go casual. The Ambiance is urban and energetic. Rated in Washingtonian along with The Inn a Litte Washington. They do have a really good selection of wines to fit everyones tastes and we have take our kids there without a problem. They do not have a kids menu but will create something special for they :o) If you want to try something new go here. However, don't expect to get in without a reservation unless your willing to wait for a spot at the bar.

A small Falls Church neighborhood restaurant. Not inexpensive, but casual (people there with shorts on for dinner - seemed out of place but they were not turned away). Had delish filet with "artistic" sides. Too pricey (and long meal) to drop in with the kids.
