I decided to pick this place to join a few of my girlfriends for a quick birthday happy hour and dinner at a new spot that we never been to. Let me go on record to say this was the best idea I came up with. We decided to get one of everything on the happy hour appetizer menu and we were not disappointed. Our waitress Natalie was extremely knowledgable and helpful the entire night. Letting us know how amazing the food was and made the experience more than we imagined. The pork belly appetizer was out of this world. And the patatas bravas I could eat all day everyday ! Don't lose your touch. This place is going to be around for a long time. Thank you Natalie for such great service and the food - we top our hats off to the chefs.

I made a reservation for 11:30 on a Saturday for brunch. We were seated in the main room next to the window, but it was a little cramped and noisy so we opted to sit at the bar. The staff were very accommodating and very attentive. The service was outstanding and the food was fabulous.

My girlfriend and I ate here after strolling through the Saturday Farmer's Market in Little Italy and our experience was perfect. Our server was engaging, passionate and extra friendly. I chose the Mussels and my girlfriend went with the salmon eggs benedict from the brunch menu and they were both spot-on. Our server told us about other great things to do in San Diego (we live in New Orleans) and even brought us a free brownie and ice cream desert. We spent four days and four nights in San Diego with eating and drinking as the emphasis of our trip and Prepkitchen ranks among the top of every restaurant we visited, even the much pricier ones. This place is simple yet amazing. It should definitely be on your list of places to go!

The overall crowd was a bit younger then we were but it never felt out of place. We had a reservation, arrived a few minutes late but we're seated right away even though the place was crowded. Waiter was very helpful, professional and never made us feel rushed. She was friendly but professional and we appreciated her attention to detail. Food was excellent. Properly prepared and nicely presented. Be sure to get reservations as it seems a very popular place.

The server (waitress) was friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu. When we couldn't decide between two dishes, she actually treated us to an appetizer version of the one we didn't choose so we'd know if we'd like it another time. That really impressed us! She also brought a taste of one wine to help make a decision. The bar looked like a good scene for the younger crowd, although we made an effort to sit as far from the noise of the music as possible. We were able to be far enough to easily have a conversation while eating. Definitely recommend this delightful spot.

We are regulars at PrepKitchen. Last week we were surprised to be charged $16.50 for a martini!!!! This is crazy!! We dine out around downtown weekly and this is the most expensive martini and one of the smallest in San Diego. Our table ordered a couple of the short ribs and pork porterhouse. The pork was so salty I had to send it back. The waiter and manager were apologetic and offered me a different entree and complimentary dessert, which we really appreciate. I hope this is not a sign of quality of service going down hill.

Like the other Prepkitchen locations and their Whisknladle partner restaurant, this restaurant treats customers right. You have a principal server, but all of them make sure you have what you need. The carage of (cucumber) water at the table is always kept fresh and glasses filled whenever someone notices. The food on this particular evening was running a little salty, but everyone finished their meal. The WNL burgers were a particular hit.

So my wife and I have eaten here probably 7-8 times. We have also eaten at the Del Mar location. I have had romantic, family and business dinners. As usual they were organized, efficient, the wait staff super friendly and they really helped to keep us on a firm schedule since we had symphony tickets. All good things. Having said all that, the soup of the day ( a potato variant) was entirely over salted and although the home made pasta dish sounded delicious, (and actually the sauce was delicious - Uni based with almonds) the pasta was under cooked. Not al dente, rather still hard in the middle, so frustrating. But, they pulled the soup from the bill after my wife didn't eat it so kudos for customer service. We will go back again.

This was our first visit to Prepkitchen Little Italy, and the experience was almost perfect. Our meal began with two appetizers; bacon wrapped dates with chorizo and tomato sauce, and beef tartare. Both were outstanding. Our server, Mai, surprised us with a bowl of chicken soup, on the house, that would be satisfying as a meal in itself. Sadly, the main course of pan roasted yellowtail, with english peas, baby potatoes, spinach, and crispy onions, in a broth, just did not work. The potatoes were bland, the onions were out of place, and pan roasting the yellowtail is perhaps, not the best preparation for that fish. The entire staff is friendly, and our server, Mai, was terrific. Prepkitchen is worth a return visit.

I went to brunch this past weekend and had another great experience here. I love the look of the place and the location. The food is always so good and on point. Just keep in mind that they have a smaller menu and most of their food has a different twist to it. So if your meeting someone who is picky or not open to new foods, not sure if I'd bring them here. It's one of those restaurants that no matter what you order, you're glad you did. Smaller portions but good quality (how it should be). Our server was a little slow last weekend although it wasn't very crowded, but that would have been find if we weren't under time constraints.

Our first time at this establishment which was quite enjoyable....really good service although the kitchen was a bit behind and we did not get our salad until 30 minutes after ordering. Further, we didnt get out our entrees until 30 minutes after our salad but our fine server made up for that in various ways....glass of wine and dessert on the house. She really went all out to make sure we were satisfied customers. One drawback.....when we made reservations, I did not know enough to request a table in the main dining room - unfortunately we sat near the bar and my chair was 3 feet from the kitchen door which was less than desirable. Make sure you request a window seat!

Probably one of my favorite places in Little Italy. Only downside is how popular it is and you have to wait to be seated (if you can't find places at the bar or community tables - which is great too). Made a reservation for 8 people for 8:30pm dinner and didn't get seated until 9:15pm, so that was a poor experience, but one of the only ones I've had there. Really awesome place.

The atmosphere is lively and appropriate for special occasion or a night out with friends. Our server Claire was particularly helpful in selecting a glass of wine to go with 2 different meals that my friend and I were splitting. Both the scallops and pork porterhouse were so good! Prep Kitchen is one of my favorite restaurants and I look forward to enjoying many more meals there in the future!

Went with a good friend after a two-day conference, and turned out to be a perfect combination of good food and lively atmosphere. Two or more women in most tables enjoying dinner in a happy, chatty, tolerably-loud ambiance. We shared two great appetizers: a very fresh Caesar Salad with an interesting dressing, and a generous serving of green asparagus fried in a tasty light batter. After that we tried the two specials of the day: my friend had a slowly-cooked meat (pork?) with some kind of sauce, which I did not try but she praised; and I had fish (red snapper?) in a clam and artichoke sauce with a combination of spices I could not clearly identify. All went great with a good Spanish wine.

Disappointing overall. My scallops were burnt & they didn't tell us until a second appetizer was offered complimentary & we inquired why. Others were waiting for their dishes. My scallops appeared undercooked, my daughter had a ravioli dish that none of us liked & the pasta-meat sauce wasn't very good.

I took a girlfriend to this restaurant because she was looking to venture out of her neighborhood. She was without her husband and son, and didn't have to also take into consideration their tastes for our evening out. She really enjoyed the appetizer we shared and the entree left her feeling perfectly satisfied. I tried the burger, which I've never had at Prepkitchen. It's a burger meant to be eaten with a knife and fork and it was fabulous. It was very filling so I could only handle a little less than half of the sandwich and some of the fries. I definitely love that the food is approachable but with an obvious gourmet flair. I'm definitely looking forward to another visit to try new things on the menu.
