Went for a birthday celebration, the 4 of us each order 1 or 2 special rolls like Lion King, Crunchy Shrimp, Jalepeno poppers, and also the soup and shared a salad-delicious! They planned each course for us so we weren't overwhelmed and every dish was great! Thank you Shiki Bistro! Loved it and we will be back soon.

We frequent Shiki Bistro in San Carlos regularly. We can count on some fresh fish and very enjoyable sushi rolls. The sake (salmon) is some of the most buttery fish in the area. The service can be very good, but sometimes if it is busy, things can appear a bit hectic. The bar selection is also very good. Great choices in sake, and specialty cocktails. Another bonus, even as a party of two, when requested, you can get a booth, instead of a smaller table. This is great for us, since we tend to order 2-3 small plates for appetizers, a couple of rolls and various drinks. The extra space makes the dining very comfortable!

This is our favorite sushi spot in town. Chicken teriyaki for the kid that doesn't like sushi, delicious udon for the kid who loves noodles, and a nice menu of creative specialtiy sushi rolls for mom and dad. Happy hour, tasty cocktail menu, friendly service.

This was one of the worst dining experience I have ever has!!!1. The salad and soup were delivered before the appetizer2. Half way through the salad the diner was delivered3. I order Tempura with NY Steak and by the time we got around to eating it! It was "Stone Cold".We had so many plates on are table it looked like we were selling china at Macys and the only thing the did not serve after the dinner was dessert. Fortunely we did not order desert. If you are late for the theater this is the place to go but unfortunately there are no theaters in San Carlos. I would not recommend Shiki Bistro to my worst enemy!!!

We came here with a group of 17- they had a great group spot so we could all sit together and they had really fantastic service. The server was really helpful in helping us decide the best way to split the check as we ordered which helped avoid confusion later. Really prompt arrival of the food which was fresh and delicious. They have a wonderful happy hour.

Started with a 7:15 reservation, which they did not honor due to seating walk ins prior to us. Finally got seated 25 mins after our reservation. We're given water. Didn't see our waitress for another 20+ minutes and unable to get anyone else's attention. They brought us a wrong order which took another 5-10 mins to get waitresses attention. Never checked on again and had to ask for bill. Beyond underwhelmed with the service and bad attitude of host. No longer will be going there.

We often eat at Shiki Bistro. Our last visit found it to be as busy as it was when it first opened. The food is good, the service fast, especially for sushi. However the atmosphere was very loud with many small children making much of the noise. It may have been just coincidence that so many were there on the same Friday night, it made the experience less 'bistro-like' and more family restaurant, not that there is anything wrong with that.

I was looking for a new sushi restaurant to try and Shiki Bistro was highly recommended. I've tried a few in the area and have been disappointed by the lack of freshness that the sushi was seved so close to lunch time. I was not disappointed a bit by Shiki Bistro. However, I was surprised by the variety of rolls offered and that the waiter was polite and eager to share his favorites with us. (I highly recommend the LION KING roll!) One of the things I noticed right away once we were served was how fresh the sushi smelled and even better, how fresh it tasted! What a concept! :) I can't wait to go back!

beautiful restaurant with great lighting, pretty decor, comfy booths, flexible areas for group seating and fun-looking bar. the menu was sizeable and most everything was delicious for the 4 of us. we really liked the tuna with black sesame seeds tataki, salmon wrapped scallops small plates. the duck with sweet potatoe was intriguing but not so tasty. the rolls were really good, esp the 49-er roll. service was efficient and timely. but for such a nice up-scale looking restaurant, i wished that our waiter had a little more personality to offer some suggestions since this was one of the first times we had been to this restaurant. that would have made it a more "wow" experience.

We enjoy this neighborhood Japanese restaurant. The food is good, the service is decent. We like their combinations on the menu, and the tastes they have paired up. There is some inconsistency among the servers, which would be great to address. We will be back - this is one of the best Japanese restaurants in our opinion in the neighborhood.

I've been going to Shiki Bistro for a long time now and I don't anticipate stopping soon. Does better sushi at a better price exist somewhere in the world? Of course it does, but this place gives you solid food with good service. The price is a little high for some of the rolls (ex. Red Evil Roll, expensive, but so good), but overall my wife and I have a good experience each time we come here.

We had several options in or near downtown San Carlos, and we are glad we enjoyed a second tasty meal here. The dragon and evil rolls were super good, but the taste surprise was the tempura prawn roll. Yummy with savory prawn inside. The scallops were delicious as before, but they seemed smaller than during the summer - is it a different season? I didn't ask but would next time. My favorite side dish is the seaweed salad; order a couple if you plan to share since it's a small portion for more than one person.

A friend recommended Shiki so my coworkers and I went for lunch. Fun looking restaurant and for the time of day, it was quiet to have a good conversation. The hostess was friendly, but the server lacked personality. The menu had a great variety of sushi/sashimi items, donburi, udon and teriyaki for lighter options. Our lunch came quick with a fresh salad and ginger and the sushi was good. My coworker ordered chicken curry udon which was served on a platter which looked appetizing, but was in need of more spice. The overall experience was nice, quick for lunch and reasonable. We'd go again.
