Calamari (appetizer) was fishy - not very good (we told server and she said she'd tell the chef - they didn't remove it from bill, despite the fact that we each had about 2 pieces); it seems like they had one server during lunch (Rather slow service); ravioli was great; pork tenderloins seemed like chicken. Not sure we'll be back!

Excellent dinner and service all around. The cheese plate with the homemade raspberry chutney was fantastic, and my crab spaghetti was perfect. It's around the corner from Pacific Place, so it was a great place to have dinner and then see a movie. It has an "in crowd" upscale atmosphere, it's definitely not a place to take the younger kids, and it's pretty loud once it fills up.

Maxx, our waiter was fantastic. There was a new somalier on staff that evening, he was very informative and pleasant. New bartender, uh..had difficulties. Maxx our superb. The food was out of this world. The ambiance was incredible, soft, romantic, striking couldn't have asked for a more enjoyable evening. Porcini Tortelinni phenominal.

  • Food is near the top tier
    OpenTable Diner Since 2004

Food is near the top tier for Seattle, but the service needs work. Prices are reasonable. Our server was friendly, but seemed in a bit over her head. Maitre D was great, got us the best table and helped with wine. The foie gras was sliced a bit thin, but overall the kitchen did a fine job. My wife, who is NOT a pasta person, really enjoyed the pasta. They even did a good job with my real cream latte. Bar is very loud and there are only a few good quiet tables in the restaurant - the moderate rating applies to part of the restaurant, the rest would be "loud." If you can get one of the good tables, the ambiance is good. They can make a very large table so a large party can sit together. Recommended.

We chose this location for our 28th wedding anniversay. A very professional friendly staff starting with the matre d' on down. Our needs were constantly met and we were wished a Happy Anniversay THREE times. An extensive list of Italian wines. The food was delicious and prepared with creativity and expertise. Of note, I would have liked to seen a nice Tuscan bread served with their olive tapanade instead of the the french baguette. Otherwise spot on. We look forward to our next visit.

Waiter "snookered" us into charging us for a full bottle of wine when we ordered a half bottle-- should have pointed out that we were ordering a half bottle before, not after serving us..very tacky. I know that buyers should be beware but somehow, I got the feeling after he pointed it out that he knew all along....

The food gets an A+. Our server gets an A. The vibe gets an A too. All that being said, it was too noisy for us to carry on a conversation. We were seated in a booth and it wasn't a typical booth. It was a u-shaped booth and that made it difficult for the two people and the ends of the booth to hear one another. I think it's the way the space is designed. On the flip side, all that noise gives it a good energy.

Food and service were impeccable. Noise factor was very high so it was difficult to converse with people at our table. One reason may be concrete floors. I loved the decor except for the floors.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2007VIP
    Dined on 5/24/2008
While it was a lovely evening of good food with friends we hadn't seen in a year, our server needed a course in how to pour wine - her drips across the table of the red wine each time she poured was eventful to see if was always going to hit the table or our sleeves (though she did dribble on the menus, breadplate, table cloth several times)...and for some reason she wanted to put the bottle on a folded napkin in the middle of the table - we got rid of that quickly to avoid a teetering bottle. If you don't want a red wine bottle on your tablecloth - try using wine coasters.

Not as good as I had hoped, but I would go back. I am a foodie and the osso bucco could have been braised longer for my boyfriend and usually I like medium rare steaks and I ordered my tenderloin medium this time as most restaurants serve it almost bloody for medium rare (which I know is correct), but my steak came out with little to no pink in it....bummer. Wine was great, waiter was great and I liked the atmosphere yet it was a Sunday night and nice a mellow. More people filtered in after our 8 pm reservation when it was already half-empty.

The tuna taretare was amazing and so was the spaghetti with crab. Everything was wonderful (except the mussels in the clam mussel appetizer, but that's just because I am not a mussel person). I cannot wait to go back. Our server was friendly and attentive; however, the maitre d was the person who sat us. Will definitely go back. I am excited to try the happy hour.

This was my second dinner at Barolo in the last six months. Both times I recommended Barolo to my dining companions and they have all (as I) been so impressed, they are returning with their significant others (it was business social for my visits).
