When you walk in, your parties name is written on a small chalkboard on your table. What a personal touch! The wait staff is excellent. We were served by Sean, and the owner also visited our table on several occasions. Both gave a service that was beyond reproach. The food was fabulous. The soup of the day was AMAZING, as were the salad and the duck ravioli. The boar belly was also excellent, and so were both steaks on the menu and the risotto. Everything was perfectly cooked. The desserts also had the entire table raving. The chef came out to visit our table and the end, as did the owner. I have never been so well treated at a restaurant. We will definitely be going back!

The 2 Monkey's is one of Montreal's better farm to table restaurants. The owners are delightful and will whatever it takes to make your evening special. The food is unique and changes every few months. The list is minimal but not expensive and what they offer is available by the bottle or glass. Don't be shy to ask for a taste. Go and enjoy.

Meal highlights were duck Ravioli with fois gras & braised quail done in coconut curry. Also terrific was the veal with blue cheese. Excellent attentive service. Friendly owner and a chef who has an eye for detail with great presentation & even better delivery. Well done! Do not repeat restaurants in general when visiting Montreal (too many to chose from) but this one is a must.

We have never been to Montreal, but I happened to find Les Deux Singes on Yelp. I am SO happy that we dined with them. The meal was truly incredible, from the fresh made pumpkin soup to the lobster sausage. I can't recommend this restaurant enough, and will certainly do so to friends who travel to Montreal!

We wanted a restaurant in a Montreal neighborhood, and discovered this little gem through TripAdvisor. It was a reasonable cab ride from downtown; food was absolutely wonderful, nice wine, and fabulous dessert. Would definitely return if in the area again, and recommend it to anyone looking for a lovely, evening.

What a great find! My son visited Montreal in August and this restaurant was recommended by his hotel. After he raved, we had to try it and did! The duck ravioli was absolutely delicious! And a shrimp bisque was possibly the best bisque I've ever had! Everything else was wonderful as well. It's tiny so make reservations early...It's a real gem!

What a pleasant surprise!Unpretentious location and service. The soup of the day was an unforgettable tomato concoction which in fact should become a regular item on their menu. The main courses ,(both on the regular menu)one steak and one hangar steak were flavoured to perfection. The former is more suitable for a larger appetite.Even the bread was crusty and tasty. Alas, neither of us had room for dessert. The restaurant is a pleasure partly because it is so small and not noisy... in fact it possesses a dignified serenity for such simple decor. All in all,a great dining experience! Note:Not for those who prefer bland or slightly spiced food.

Imaginative and beautifully prepared menu. Far above what you might expect when you just ound this "funky" offbeat looking space. Small so be sure to get reservation...we saw many being turned away. One of best meals we (foodies) ever had. Great and friendly service

I rate this place outstanding in context of its ambitions. The idea is to serve high-end food in a colourful but unpretentious environment at an off-the-beaten track location (that is, not in the business district or the downtown port area.) The result is that your great food is comparatively inexpensive; it would normally cost me about double to get a similar meal at a "fancy" restaurant. You should expect what comes with the package: there are not many tables and they are close; both the menu and the wine list are brief; the available wines tend toward the inexpensive (but I quite enjoyed mine, the cheapest they had.) The service was both friendly and professional, and not over-stretched.

Duck Raviloi with foie gras is outstanding. They changed our reservation easily to an earlier time, a few hours before our reservation, which was appreciated. Even if "fully booked" on Open Table, worth calling to check directly for a reservation. They have a few seats at a tiny bar if you are solo or a couple. I will return.

Our first time at this restaurant but surely not our last. The talented chef pleased us with all his offerings from amuse-bouche to dessert. The wine list could use some filling out, though. Besides the food, we liked the choice of music - no loud techno beat here to make conversation impossible.

I grabbed a seat at the bar as a solo traveller. With a great open kitchen, it was a pleasure to see all my meals come together! The chef/hand were friendly and keen for a chat. There is a small, but varied menu. The meal itself was great; two courses are ample. Slightly on the expensive side.

A friendly welcome set the scene for what was to be a wonderful evening, both in terms of food and service. The mojito had the perfect amount of fresh mint, the warm bread and complimentary hors d'oeuvre kept us satisfied until our starters arrived, the presentation and flavours of both the starters and main meals could not be faulted. Deserts were not considered as the meals were very filling however the staff could not let a birthday go unrecognised and presented not only myself but also my husband with a small desert in celebration. A very nice touch. Special note must be made of the service, the young lady who looked after us was attentive without being imposing.

This has been the best restaurant we have been to so far in Montreal. The seating is a casual bistro style. We had an excellent tomato soup ($9) with bone marrow that was topped with creme fraiche and greens (one of the best soups we have ever had so we had to order another). My wife had a mushroom risotto with mozzarella and pecorino. I had a duck foie gras ravioli ($25). I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who is in or passing through Montreal.

Highly recommend this restaurant. Intimate room with cool vibe, innovative dishes, outstanding staff. When we weren't sure which red wine to order, our waiter brought several tastings to the table. He consulted with the chef when we mentioned we were interested in some jazz clubs afterwards and wrote up a list. We commented on the phenomenal light fixtures and he came back with the artist's business card. The chef came out to chat and inquire about our meal. And they brought us complimentary glasses of port to accompany our dessert. Of the five dishes my husband and I had, 4 were excellent and 1 was a bit of a miss, but kudos for the attempt at doing something innovative with quail. We will be back and will send others.

Beautiful presentation of dishes, very nice sauces. Amazing fish and hanger steak. The deserts are great too ( floating island better than chocolate crème brûlée). Ambiance is great. Beautiful decor. Very attentive service. Things to improve a bit: 1) wine list: too small and many things on it are not very good. There were a couple of bottes that were outstanding though 2) beef carpaccio: there was some connective tissue in it. 3) capuccino is bad: bitter and watery. This needs to be improved fast because it really spoils am otherwise very good restaurant.

We all - a family of 4 with two teenage kids - had a great night out. If you like great food with a creative twist, don't hesitate. We chose different appetizers and main courses and tasted all of them. Beautiful presentation, innovative combinations, and it all worked out perfectly. We particularly loved the scallop ceviche, the duck ravioli with foie gras for appetizers. The boar belly, the risotto and the beef hanger were just amazing. Deserts were great too : we tried two french classics, both again came with creative innovations that worked brilliantly. A very friendly team cooking in the open kitchen in front of your eyes, small restaurant with only a few tables, dinner in a friendly atmosphere.

Not generally a fan of French food but in Montreal it seemed the thing to do. So glad we did. Great food, which was incredibly creative in preparation and presentation. We tried things that were prepared in ways we never heard of Chocolate dessert was the best thing I ever ate. Risotto was to die for. Duck ravioli persuaded my friend that he was wrong and does like duck.Portions are small but food rich so it all worked out fine. We were with friends and shared several things so we all got to try everything we ordered. Highly recommend this approach because everything was so great. Our waitress, Hillary was helpful and charming. Even the wine was reasonable and delicious. A very definite and enthusiastic recommendation !

We visited this restaurant on a long weekend to Montreal. We originally had reservations at another restaurant, but had to cancel last minute due to a change in plans. So, we were looking around for a good restaurant at the last minute and came across Les Deux Singes. We were so happy that we stumbled across this restaurant. The food was truly amazing! YUM! Loved my ceviche - extremely fresh scallops mixed with original fruits and vegetables. Each item bursting in your mouth. Husband had the duck ravioli - it is their most popular dish. I had it as the main course. Flavors were unbelievable, a good mix of texture. I wished they had put more duck in my raviolis....they were a tad flat. The filling is not duck confit as I expected but a mousse or pate of duck. Either way, I'd order it again! My husband had the slow cooked venison. A big hit as well. This is my new favorite restaurant in Montreal!

Restauraurant was highly recommended. Got there asked for a drink, was out of stock. When time came to order a second bottle of the same wine, was out of stock. Had to take a much pricier wine , very disappointing? Was told during dinner that the management had just changed, could be one of the reasons. Food however was very good and service was amicable.

I had a delicious meal here with my foodie husband. We were a bit surprised by the ride in the cab as it was in a residential area but nice cool area sort of like "the village" of Small place but warm they had the table ready with my name written on a little chalkboard. Scallop ceviche was great. They were out of Boar so my husbands second choice was the Hanger steak some type of chimchurry (sp?). I enjoyed the special tile fish with pistachio humans and other unique combinations such as a curry and other spices that just worked magically. My husband says "every bite was an amazing journey". I wanted to lick my plate dry but didn't want to give Americans a bad reputation !
