It was love at first sight: From the minute I walked through the door and saw my name written on the table reserved for me and my friend, I knew that Les Deux Singes de Montarvie was special. The service was outstanding ( friendly, professional and without attitude), the food amazing ( texture, taste, colour, presentation:10 out of 10) and the ambience was mellow and upbeat with an eclectic music selection playing softly in the background. Les Deux Singes de Montarvie is foodie heaven.

This is such a great find. With only seating for about 25, is has that quaint European bistro feeling that could transport you just about anywhere. Food was delicious and spot on, cooked to perfection. A creative mix of flavors and colors and a presentation that would make any chef proud. I loved the open kitchen and especially the small chalk tablets placed on each table with the name of our reservation. Portion size was generous and well worth the extra $$.

the wait staff were very nice and welcomed us warmly. The décor was a rustic and pleasant. The food was remarkable. The flavors were intense vibrant and well combined. The plating was artful and visually attractive. It was one of the best meals we have had in a long time. I hope others go to this restaurant and encourage the chef an owners to continue they're high level of performance.

Les Deux Singes is the most amazing food experience I have ever had. The passion for food, drink and laughter is alive here. The kindest most attentive staff cater to your every need. The food is outrageously good. I never knew food could get that good and I love to eat! The pricing is a steal for the experience you get. Best restaurant on the planet hands down!

We had a outstanding dinner on Tuesday after Easter. We instantly felt relaxed and very welcome. The lady of Les Deux Singes de Montarvie recommended us a Viognier as aperitif. Viognier is one of my favorites, so that was a good recommendation. We have chosen to order different glasses of wine which match with the courses. The courses we of a very high quality. Sensations of taste, very creative dishes of French cuisine with an asian touch. So, a good atmosphere, outstanding food, fantastic wines and great staff. High recommendation

Every mouthful was amazing.. the amuse bouche was absolutely delicious. I had the chicken thigh roulade stuffed with mushrooms and leeks in a coconut and lemongrass sauce for my entree and it was absolutely delicious. For my main dish I had the duck ravioli in a cream of foie grais sauce and it was heaven. The service was very good and the open kitchen concept is very cool. Highly recommend - the food here is excellent.

The atmosphere, the food, the short but wonderful wine list, the service, the owner: all of it was great! The food coming out of that small kitchen was just remarkable. I travel all over the world and am not easily impressed but this kitchen rocks. Veal tender like butter, duck ravioli wonderfully rich, both married perfectly with the wines suggested. I would not hesitate to go back or recommend this place to my pickiest of friends.

Just a fabulous dining experience. The restaurant is very quaint and seats maybe 25. The menu is not extensive but should be able to find somethig for every taste. I had the Korean BBQ duck and while I usually do not order duck, the flavor and tenderness was so outstanding, I actually got goose bumps when I tasted the thigh, just OUTSTANDING! My honey got a seafood special which was porgy that she hadn't had since her youth and it was cooked and seasoned perfectly. Wine recomendation was perfect, the attentiveness of the owner who waited on us was perfect, the little surprises the chefs sent over was perfect. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Among the best eating experiences I've had in Montreal. The duck ravioli is a wonder, and the porgy (replacing the Atlantic trio) is about as close to perfect as a deceptively casual fish plate can be -- unpretentious and incredible. We finished things off with the decadent île-flottant (AMAZING meringue!) and cappuccino that's even better than the rightly famous nearby cafés in Mile End. Les Deux Singes is a treasure.

Just a few tables (for 2 mostly) in a motley restaurant where the front windows are 2 mobile garage doors. The young staff was courteous and very professional. The limited wine list is on a chalkboard - not private imports - but good wines. No tablecloth but 2 odd place mats. As for the food: absolutely marvellous! The Chaudrée of Salted Cod was divine and the Veal Chop was so tender it could be cut without a knife. The presentation was sophisticated (with edible flowers). The Fondant au chocolat was also elaborate but definitely for the sweet tooth! Highly recommended for foodies who don't need a glamorous and romantic place.

Best meal enjoyed in a restaurant in Montreal in a very long time! Searching for a new restaurant experience and disappointed by the Gazete's top list of restaurants for 2013 and surprised to see Les Deux Singes De Montarvie rated as top pick by Trip Advisor I decided to check it out.! Very happy I did, 5 stars all around! Exciting to see what a young team can do. Suggest you bypass the more established restaurants riding on their reputations and try this place, I'm sure you will be glad you did!

A recommander absolument!

Great experience! The waiter was friendly and very helpful. We loved everything we had (ordered the duck ravioli with foie gras sauce, chicken rolls with thai curry coconut milk sauce and the tartare as appetizers; the atlantic trio and the lamb as main courses). The wines are all private imports and are decently priced, we loved all the ones we tried. We enjoyed our meal and the overall experience. Bill was $200 (including a couple wines by the glass and a bottle of red at $50), not expensive for the quality of the food. Will definitely recommend this place to friends, and will certainly return soon.

I was looking for a special place to take my parents for dinner when they visited me for Christmas in Montreal. I found this restaurant online and it had great reviews plus the menu looked great. I must say, my expectations were high when we got there. But the restaurant exceeded all expectations. My parents, who are both very critical and have had their fair share of great dining experiences, absolutely loved it! The ambiance was cosy and intimate. The staff super friendly and helpful. And the food. Oh my, the food: so great! Rich combinations of flavors, I had extremely tender lamb. Creative presentation of the dishes. Amazing wines to come with it. Nothing but compliments for this restaurant.

We dined here for the first time with two guests we had in town from Washington, D.C. And couldn't have been more impressed with the immaculate service and food. The portions are perfect, extremely well prepared and absolutely delicious. We were especially impressed with the waitress and her knowledge and explanation of menu items. Every dish we had was divine, and we especially loved the endive salad, the lamb knuckle and veal tenderloin, and finally the floating island merengue. It's not pretentious, the food is perfect and the service impressive. What else can you ask for!? Truly one of the best in montreal.

Had heard great things about this slightly left-of-centre little restaurant tucked away off the main drags of the plateau, and it didn't disappoint. Food was amazing, service was warm and friendly, wine was good. Paid a little more than I was expecting, but that included a generous and well-deserved tip. At 6 pm I was the first reservation of the evening. I was greeted by name, seated at the bar in front of the open kitchen. The two chefs were great to watch in the small kitchen; the sommelier/waiter was good with suggestions and checking that everything was tasting good. I'm a small eater, so I had 3 appetizers that suited me just fine.

This was a GREAT dining extravaganza! The proprietor greeted us and said "Welcome! You will have fun!". And we did! Young Shawn, the chef, is astoundingly talented. The food was about the best we have ever had in a restaurant. I had the shrimp chowder with mussels, the veal, and a floating island for dessert. The 4 of us enjoyed delicious Spanish red wine recommended by the owner, who was also our server. She was so efficient and friendly and delightful and knowledgeable! We hugged her when we left. We already have told several friends they must go here. It is an experience not to be missed!

Very creative execution of classic and sometimes eclectic dishes, never over-the-top. We tried 5 dishes in total and they were all fantastic. Presentation is great, portions are moderate but filling and the flavor on everything was excellent. Small menu but very varied and probably a great dish for just about anyone (would not really recommend for kids). Service was excellent and the prices were moderate considering the exceptional dining experience.
