On a very busy night downtown, we were seated right away. Both the service and food were very good. M&S prices, however, continue to be just a bit high for what they serve. While I don't mind paying for great and fresh seafood, the scallop dinner was not a great value. 3 scallops came on a bed of crab hash. The hash was mushy and underseasoned, the scallops - though done well - I would have expected 1-2 more for the price. The clam chowder was a little soupy, but plentiful of clams. The fish and chips were good, the batter just a little on the heavy side. The calamari appetizer offered more than calamari with some fresh veggies almost tempura style, but again, for the price, I expected more calamari - less veggies.

The service was excellent but the seafood, which they are known for, the salmon was dry, the shrimp very tough and dry. The two scallops were excellent. My husband had a rib-eye. Our home cooked are of much better quality and when we cook medium, it is medium not well done as what we received. Very fatty and not much flavor and very thin. Texas Roadhouse is much better for rib-eyes and frankly dollar for dollar for dinner, I recommend Morton's or Ruth Chris you get a much better meal and steak for a couple dollars more. We won't go back there. The manager offered a free dessert for $9 - come on, really!!!! We had a New York Cheesecake and it was not that good, the strawberry sauce was terrible. the strawberries bitter.

I like the food here but the service is awful. My husband thought it would be good to give them another shot. Unfortunately, the service tonight was poor. They were not terribly busy especially for a Saturday night but the service was shoddy. The waiter was absent a lot of the meal. For an upscale restaurant, this is not good. There are too many competitors within walking distance who will gladly give me better service.

Typically, my most favorite place to enjoy a nice dinner when in the downtown area. The food was still very good but I was a bit surprised by the service. Our dinners ended up on someone else's table and sat there for about 5 minutes. Our server realizing the error, removed our dinners from the other table and still tried to serve it to us. We refused and asked for a new entree. I don't want the food after it's already been on someone else's table. We were there with another couple. The men had their meals and we insisted they eat it so it didn't get cold. My friend and I waited for our new entree. Though it arrived fairly quickly, the men were already finished with their meal. They tried to make it right by comping our appetizers.

The food was good but my steak was undercooked and the waiter was not attentive enough. It took about 15 minutes to have the steak sent back and prepared right. In that time we asked to order dessert while the steak was sent back but the waiter did not return to take our order until the steak was done 15 minutes later. Also the waiter maybe checked on us a total of 4 times.

Expensive and terribly disappointing. Slow service, even in an only half-filled dining room. My fish was undercooked, the salad had greens in it that were slimy and spoiled. It took us 15 minutes to be greeted by our server, before our cocktail order was placed. There is absolutely no reason for me to want to ever dine here again. If this had been the only reason I'd come into downtown Cincinnati, I'd be even more angry at the wasted time and money. Craving seafood? Go to Mitchell's here in Cincinnati or Newport, or Cameron Mitchell's Ocean Club in Columbus.

We decided to go to McCormick & Schmick's before the ballet on a Saturday night. I was surprised that they were not very busy when we arrived at 6PM but seemed to get busier throughout the night. Our entire experience was fantastic. Don was a great waiter and was very patient and kind with us. I wouldn't hesitate to go back for another nice night out or try their lunch service.

The food and service were wonderful. Not 5 star but certainly 3-4 star quality. We sat in a window booth. Everything we ordered was delicious and promptly served. We (2) were seated in a section that already had a large party seated which took a lot of the servers attention, but, we made the best of it. Dinner was unrushed and casual (unlike my experience at Montgomery Inn Boathouse two days later). Pricing was fair for the quality and quantity of food provided. My only detraction to the evening was the constant parade of panhandlers on the corner in the street. The fact that the restaurant sits in the heavily frequented Fountain Square area (several restaurants and hotels) attracts them. The city should do more to curb this activity.

Had the opportunity to go out for dinner while working in Cincinnati. Asked the concierge for a recommendation of a restaurant that has seafood and chicken and not just steak. McCormick & Schmick was the immediate recommendation. Liked being able to make online reservations as we ere walking there and it was still a bit chili out. Service was prompt and friendly, but they were not full. We ordered a variety of food choices and all gave it thumbs up, fro pasta, to lobster to burger. Was able to have good conversation, good food at a moderate price. Not too expensive. Even offered to take my coat and hang it up, which I took them up on.

    Dined on 4/12/2014
We chose McCormick and Schmick's for its proximity to the Aronoff and its menu. Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu and helped us make our decisions. Our entrees were delicious. Downsides - it took over 30 minutes for our drinks to arrive after our initial order. Then it took over 40 more minutes when one person in our party ordered a second draft beer later in our meal. Our server said the bar was backed up. The restaurant was not at capacity, in fact the area we were in was quite empty. The restaurant attempted to seat a party of 8 at a table for 6 near us; the people in that group threw a fit. It was over ten minutes until they were moved to a different table. In the meantime, we had to listen to their complaining.

We try to have a romantic dinner here every couple of months, and we haven't been disappointed yet. I had Jamaican tilapia, and the tropical fruit salsa was delicious. My husband had the ahi tuna and loved it. The recommended pinot noir was a decent wine, although we felt it really wasn't worth the $50 cost for the bottle. The apple walnut dessert was marvelous as was the apple pie dessert drink. My husband had the 20-year-old port and said it was very smooth.

From being warmly greeted at the door to the ambiance of the decor and table setting, we knew right away this would be a special experience. I was celebrating my friend's birthday, and we were delighted when even our lunch menus said "Happy Birthday!" on the top. The service was excellent and attentive without being overbearing. The Chef's Choice Northwest Salmon Saute was outstanding- the blend of the tastes and colors was perfect. I would never have thought to combine the eclectic palette of ingredients. They were wonderfully fresh- a really delightful combination. Despite living in Cincinnati for years, this was my first experience going to McCormick & Schmick's, and I will definitely be back with friends and family.

I have been to this restaurant many times before, however this time I brought friends that had never dined there before. We were seated right away, reservation through open table, the waiter came to take our drink order then disappeared for 20 minutes, finally coming over to say the bar was backed up. In the meantime he took our dinner order, but was not very attentive, did not bring bread to the table right away and disappeared again. We ended up spending 2.5 hours for dinner based on the service. I will return again as the food is always very good and next time make sure I dont get the same server.

I've been taking clients to McCormicks for years and building points in their loyalty program. During the most recent visit I was told the program has changed and I would be losing the value accumulated on the card. There was no communication from to the company to their customers regarding the loss of rewards, or change current loyalty program. The restaurant also had to nerve to ask me to buy a new loyalty card (after losing ~$100 worth of rewards). I will not recommend the restaurant and won't be back until they do the right thing and honor the previous balance and program. Cincinnati has too many great new restaurants to be treating customers this way.
