Went here with a couple of friends for an evening of dining and "girl talk". The restaurant was clean and quiet. Several diners were also enjoying the food, drink and atmosphere. The food was excellent, I began my meal with the potato soup which was delicious and had the crab cake entree, which was equally delicious.

Appetizers (New England clam chowder and a salad with goat cheese) and second courses (mushroom bruschetta and mussels in curry sauce) were very good to excellent. Unfortunately both entrees disappointed. The hanger steak - a standard bistro offering - was swamped in a diluted wine sauce and strangely accompanied by mediocre cheesy grits, also submerged in the sauce. The salmon was acceptable but not especially fresh or refined. On the plus side, the service was both attentive and knowledgeable, and the ambiance was welcoming. We will try again because this restaurant has the potential to deliver a fine meal.

We eat often eat at Oliver's on a weekday evening. The food is amazing. Although the menu is limited, the food is always well prepared and imaginative. It's food to dream about. We met friends for dinner on a Saturday evening. As always, the food was great. But we couldn't hear each other, it was soooo loud. They have an acoustics issue. If you want a quiet meal, go during the week. If you hearing is fine tuned, then go for the weekend!

A five-star restaurant, in my opinion, is consistent in all four categories mentioned above. I would rate Oliver's Five Star!! We sat at one of the front window tables -- cozy, intimate, and all in all charming! Kudos to the servers -- they are well educated in menu selections. We will return!

I heard great reviews about Oliver, but just got the chance to try it for myself. While it is good, I feel like it is the kind of place I would only go to once every few months. They have a 3-course meal for $35 deal, which sounds great... Except that you wait forever for each course, and your waiter is usually nowhere to be found. Then when the courses DO arrive, you find out that the first 2 courses are TINY - it isnt until the main course that you feel like you've had a meal started. Food was good, but it's a good thing they are BYOB... You need some alcohol in you to deal with the slow-as-a-snail service.

The look, feel and tastes of a great New York City restaurant tucked away in Bordentown. We started off by sharing mussels in a coconut red thai curry sauce that was amazing. My entree was the signature crab cake and my wife ordered the diver sea scallops. Presentation was top notch. I will be back again soon.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2009
    Dined on 10/8/2011
Oliver is a lively spot in a pleasant downtown area. The food is excellent- the menu is varied enough that most everyone can find something to eat and their are typically seasonal specialties as well. My wife had a late summer tomato salad which highlighted the tomatoes but not the usual- balsamic and mozzarella. This had bleu cheese and the tomatoes were chopped and mounded. I had wild greens with bleu cheese, pear and pecans. Outstanding. Entrees- scallops and Berkshire pork shank for us- were perfectly done and the accompanying items- veggies and acorn squash rings respectively- were perfect additions. My only complaint is that the kitchen seemed stressed on a crowded Saturday night and the wait between and main course was far too long.

The food presentation was beautiful. It tasted just as good as it looked!! Amazing deal -- the 3 courses for 35 dollars. Enough food to fill you yet not enough to make you stuffed. The desserts were awesome!!! Warm berry cobbler--to die for. We will definately return--with friends. Our meal was relaxed and not rushed. Perfect way to celebrate my husband's birthday on what is now a somber day of remembrance for all of us (Sept 11)

Oliver is definitely a favorite of ours. We always have the same waiter, and he is courteous and helpful but doesn't hover too much. The food...oh, the food. It is imaginative and beautiful and fresh and local and expertly prepared. I had a salmon entree that was composed like a painting, and it was unbelievably good. I've eaten at famous restaurants all over the country, and the food at Oliver is as good as any of them.

Nestled among quaint shops in historic Bordentown City, the food is nothing short of spectacular. The service is outstanding. Both Bruce and Josh are knowledgeable about menu items, provide vivid descriptions of the dishes, and offer excellent recommendations upon request. Sunday-Friday Oliver's offers a three-course menu for $35, which is a great way to sample a number of the dishes. The mushroom bruschetta is a MUST. The crispy skin chicken with the truffle risotto is spectacular. If you are lucky enough to visit Oliver's when they are serving the scallops with the German potato salad, put the menu down and look no further. You won't be disappointed. Order Matt's burritos for a take-out meal during the week-best burrito you will ever eat.
