Excellent tapas. Many choices on the menu and the portions were large enough to share. Hidden in the alleyway entrance of a small shopping arcade it is adjacent to underground parking for those cold Toronto winters.

the food remains consistently very good and very interesting. There is a nice balance between changes in the menu and what remains static. Exceptionally good food is served and the staff are well informed and not overly precious about it. We keep going back even though it is not close by.

This was our first time at the restaurant. The food and service was terrific. The only problem was that the air conditioner was not working and it was extremely hot in the restaurant. We were profusely sweating and truth be told that did take away from the meal. Will that stop us from going there again. No way!

great start, then fell. something must have been wrong in the kitchen that night. we had the chef's choice menu and for $160/head, weren't ultimately satisfied. sweetbreads over-cooked, pork belly bland (didn't finish either)- when asked, we told the server, who was apologetic, but we were charged in full. we told service that we weren't hungry after the last meat course, that we wanted a taste of cheese and a little something sweet; we were served and charged for full courses of both. all cold and cooked charcouterie/fish/veg plates were outstanding. wines were quality and reasonably priced. restaurant was not at capacity. i still had a fabulous night.

  • Cava was recommended to me
    OpenTable Diner Since 2008
    Dined on 6/5/2008
Cava was recommended to me by my fairly sophisticated 25-year-old son and his girlfriend as being one of their most memorable restaurant experiences in terms of the unusual food, the delicious wine and the excellent service. Based on that recommendation, three of us dined there to celebrate a birthday and we weren't disappointed. In addition to the delicious tapas-style menu and excellent wines, the service was very welcoming and helpful, without being intrusive. The chef added a Happy Birthday note in chocolate writing to the Birthday Girl's dessert plate -- a discreet and appreciated gesture! Cava truly is a hidden gem though, as it's well concealed in the Delisle courtyard, off the main drag. The ambiance is warm and casual.

The service was lower than expected for the type of establishment. The server was a bit rude, mocking us about how we had never gone there and making negative remarks about other restaurants in the area that we may have visited. He was very unprofessional. At the end, they overcharged my friend's credit card for 40 more dollars, even though we left a cash tip of 40 dollars. I will not be returning to this restaurant.

The food was spectacular, and every dish was cooked perfectly. I took my family, not relatively experienced diners, and they enjoyed the whole experience. However, coming from a similar style of Dining myself, I felt the server could have took more control of the table. When I ask to put it in his hands, i expect a little more guidance and enthusiasm, instead, most of the food was delivered with quiet, repetitive citing from other servers and food runners. Not too mention the fact that your restaurants, almost exclusively serves an item like Jamon Iberico, That is a reason to practically explode with excitement, and it was never even brought to the attention of the table. I pointed out the black hoof sitting on the counter to my family.

Cava offered a really wonderful eating experience but on the Saturday night we were there it was horribly loud. We were unfortunately next to a table of six at which two men were trumpeting like bull elephants to get the ladies' attention but the rest of the restaurant was also very loud. A sonics engineer is badly needed to mute the room.

Most dishes were a hit, some were just ok. Desserts were good but not spectacular. Loved many things - foie gras, sablefish, grilled octopus/shrimp anything grilled really. Albondigas (meatballs) were our least favourite, coarse texture, good sauce. Nothing stood out with the desserts - all pretty decent but no wow. Had great ice cream last time. Service was just right, not too much, not too little. I've been to Cava twice in last few months. Both times the restaurant was very hot and very loud.

Cava cuisine = excellent. We've been talking about their foie gras, venison anticuchos, and cauliflower/manchego croquetas ever since. I was impressed that they paid such close attention to my OpenTable request - I had mentioned that it was my fiancee's birthday in my online reservation request and, without reminding the staff, his dessert plate arrived with the words "Happy Birthday" drizzled in chocolate around its perimeter. Kudos to the management.
