A word from Ocean
In the heart of this mostly residential enclave, in a converted circa-1895 Shingle Style house, sits Ocean. Though the Inn has existed in one permutation or another since the 1950s, and it has long held a reputation for well-appointed lodgings and fine dining. The Innkeepers have filled the building with a striking art collection that could make small New England museums envious, while Chef Gignac uses the dining room—with its awe-inspiring views—as a canvas upon which to create epicurean masterpieces. Pierre Gignac graduated from the Institut d’Hôtellerie et de Tourisme du Québec. Pierre chose to open his first restaurant in Ogunquit, Maine “98 Provence," which pleased locals, tourists and critics for 18 years, until it closed in 2012.

The Cape Arundel Inn has one of the premier views in the area. The open ocean view from the large outside deck is perfect for drinks before dinner. The food was tasty but pricey and there was not much of it. For example the crab cakes appetizer was two cakes the size of a quarter for about $15. One thing that put us off was when we arrived about 20 min before our reservation time they told us we has a beautiful window table. We said we would like to have a glass of wine on the deck before dinner to enjoy the view. When we got seated at our reservation time they stuck us at a table in the back. Table service was good. There is new ownership this year so maybe they are on a learning curve. Remember to bring your big wallet.

This was our second time dining at the Cape Arundle Inn and we fell in love with it all over again. The dining room is surrounded with windows so every table has a view of the ocean. The service is exceptional and the food is noteworthy. While the experience is 4-star the ambience is casual. I believe gentlement are required to wear collared shirts but not jackets. Our only disappointment this time was due to the fact that my wife now needs the use of a wheelchair. And while they claim to be wheelchair accessible, it means a tour of the kitchen. It would be nice if the Inn built a ramp for those that are physically challenged. All in all, it was a wonderful experience and we would highly recommend it.

What really makes this place special is the location. If you are there before the sun sets you get to eat well prepared food while taking in a truly beautiful view. Service was impecccable. Nice change from dining in the more crowded village.

We have waited 8 years to return to Maine and go to dinner at Cape Arundel Inn and it was worth the wait. Our waitress remembered us after all of those years and the view is just stunning. The food was absolutely delicious (as it was 8 years ago) and they treated us and our 7 year old daughter like royals. They new we were celebrating our wedding anniversary and they presented us with complimentary champange at the end of our meal making our special night even more fabulous. I highly recommend anyone who has a chance to visit Cape Arundel Inn and enjoy a meal worth a lifetime.

Don't miss this gem. It is exactly what we wanted to celebrate my Bday-ocean view, delicious entrees, wonderful staff & ambiance (piano music all night). Why is this restaurant super special? I have MS /can not go up steps -upon arrival (lots of steps), our daughter explained our dilemma-she was instructed to pull around back by the kitchen, where they would help me in through back entrance. I was so embarrassed & apologized for having to make such an awkward entrance. They could not have been nicer and assured me it was no problem; in fact, they said they have another guest who uses that entrance ...and that would be former President George HW Bush! He dines here while at their Kennebunkport compound, Walkers Point, seen from the Inn!

Arrive early so that you can have a drink on the patio, it's a beautiful view. The service is always great and the food is very good. The menu is rather straightforward but offers a lot of options. The lobster risotto was excellent and they give you freshly baked bread that seems like it just came out of the over, it's always still steaming. My husband and I were very impressed and went to the restaurant twice during our one week stay in Kennebunkport!

Cape Arundel Inn has never failed to provide us with a fantastic dining experience over the past 30 years! It is on the Atlandtic coast perched on rugged rocks with a panoramic view. Cocktails on the veranda before dinner is a must! CAI provides cozy lap blankets if the ocean breeze gets too cool. The dining room is wrapped in mullioned windows, framing the view for every table, and the fresh seafood in the inspired menu makes it difficult to choose. The fish chowder with butternut squash was superb...and that was just the start!

We will certainly recommend to friends and will be back ourselves for that special occasion.

I celebrated my 60yh Birthday with 7 of my dearest friends from Chicago. My friends along with myself where impressed with the caring and composed staff. The Inkeeper and his Matre'D could not have done enought to make us comfortable inside and outside with blankets for warmth and beverages that were extremely tasty (alcoholic and non). The food was extceptional and priced right. I would definitely go back again. I will also tell my family and friends to come and enjoy the food and pleasant atmosphere along with the view, and exceptional Innkeeper and Staff. Sincerely, Angeline Swiech Chicago, Illinois

I have lived in Kennebunk for 17 years and Cape Arundel Inn continues to be the choice for my wife and I to spend/celebrate special occassions. Go about 45 minutes early (before your reservation) to enjoy a drink on the porch and soak up the fabulous amibiance and view of Walkers Point and the Atlantic Ocean. I feel like a special guest in the fine dining restaurant on board the Titanic whenever I eat here. Spectacular experience from the view to the food to the piano music and most importantly the professional service.

One of the best meals I've had in a long time. My favorite steak in Boston is at Abe and Louies: The Arundel Inn was just as good. My wife had the special lobster - again it was wonderful. Also, we split a salad and it was actually, "memorable". Yes, really. Ok, this is not cheap, but it is gormet. I took my wife there for a mother's day weekend. We sat one table from the windows, overlooking the Atlantic ocean and Walker's point. Amazing food, view and service. A very classy place that I look forward to returning. If you go to Kennebunkport, this should be on your list. Pete R.

I have been to Cape Arundel Inn a number of times over the years but this visit was the best. The views of the ocean are hard to beat and the service is always good but in the past the food has not been 'memorable' for the price. Lovely view and wonderful service! The food is good and generously proportioned - except for the lobster. $50 for rather bland preparation of a small lobster; wouldn't recommend. The restaurant at the Cape Arundel Inn was perfect for a special evening out. The food is delicious, though very expensive. The service was attentive and friendly, though not at all stuffy. I wish we could have been dining during the day because the ocean views from the Inn are spectacular. We each had a version of lobster - one lazy, one sauteed. Both were tasty and cooked just right - not overdone. Salads were imaginative and delicious. Though we did not have wine, the list is extensive. Our mixed drinks were very good. The tables are nicely spaced, except between the upper and lower levels, so you're not overhearing too many conversations. Light, romantic love songs on the piano rounded out a nice Valentine's dinner.
