The Restaurant at Patowmack Farm is truly an excellent dining experience. The food for brunch was outstanding along with the excellent service. While not a cheap place to dine, I feel it was worth every penny for the quality of food they serve. The chef really creates excellent unique dishes.

Food was great! It's very expensive but great for special occasions! The wait stuff was a bit stiff especially the bartender but overall a fine experience. Also, this may be petty but to be charged for coffee and tea at the end of a very expensive dinner seemed a bit overboard.

Tarver King is one of the most talented chefs in the country and his magical meals can be had in the most scenic restaurant in the area. Patowmack Farm Restaurant is well worth the drive. It is truly a special restaurant staffed by a well trained, friendly and knowledgable wait staff. Beverly Ballard, the caring owner is always there. Seemingly nothing is left to chance. We love the place.

Well we headed out without much info about the restaurant. Wow many of the ingredients I had never heard of. I was a caterer for 15 years. It was quite an experience. The portions are very small. Everything was delicious though. It is a special place. I went in winter but will return in the spring/summer for the view.

From the minute you are seated in the converted greenhouse dining room and personally greeted by the owner Beverly you will have a dining experience like no other. The view overlooking the river is spectacular! Not only is the majority of the food grown on the farm but prepared and presented deliciously and creatively. Looking forward to returning!

This is my very favorite restaurant. The food is unbelievably good and the service is excellent. This is true farm-to-table dining as the restaurant is actually located on a farm. It is expensive but worth every penny. I'm so glad that I found them and expect to visit them for many years to come.

I think the places is great, I absolutly love the fact that everything except for the wine is locally sourced. But we sat is very stiff low end take out restaurant chairs in a hall that was more reminisent of a school cafeteria. I liked the personal printing they did on each menu, I thought that was a nice touch.

Although we like to go to the Restaurant at Patowmack Farms on special occasions, every visit here is special. This did happen to be a 50th birthday celebration the weekend before Christmas. The atmosphere in the "greenhouse" is always lovely, but Christmas is my favorite time here. The windowsills are lined with special nativity scenes. In addition, a wonderful local guitarist was playing that night. We love all of the updates from the menu to serving pieces. I won't ruin any surprises for anyone. My husband and I both opted for the "Raised" menu and loved every bite! We can't wait to come back!

The meal is pricey but well worth every penny. The food and presentation was incredible. The owner was very charming and the view was surreal. We went for lunch on a snowy Saturday. We were seated in a greenhouse over looking the mountain. I had the chestnut soup, the crispy rabbit confit and the paw paw ice cream. So good. Can't wait for the next speciall occassion to come back.

The offerings sounded good but were poorly done. I had the turkey which was brined and t was too salty. It was a small four inch by one inch slice of breast meat stuffed with a tablespoons worth of a watery stuffing. It hd a two inch by one half inch slice of dark meat on top. My chestnut soup was good but rich. It was too salty also. The desert came out like a bowl of mush. My husband had the pork shoulder which was just shredded pork with a small side of faro. His was tastier than mine. He had the braised fennel for an appetizer which was soaked in some smokey sweet bacon broth. His desert was very presentable and was better than my panna- cotta. He had the pecan custard. All this for a $235.00 bill.

Although the service was very good and the food was okay, we were disappointed on our first visit to this restaurant. We went thinking it would be a nice drive to the country for Thanksgiving lunch at a quaint restaurant, but instead it felt like we were eating in a green house -- not the ambience we expected. The food was okay, but small portions. The bread and homemade butter were good, but it would have been nice to have been offered more since the servings were very small. The wine list is notable because the prices were generally very high. We would not make the trip again and would not recommend it to our friends.

A lovely restaurant during warm months I assume but not on this Nov rainy night. Treking to the outdoor ladies room in the rain - unique but not appropriate for a $$$ restaurant. Attentive waiters who can't remember who get's what at the dinner table. Finally, received the correct check for our table of two, but charged for the dinner ordered by a table of 3. Waiting for the bank to unfreeze the incorrect amount charged to my credit card - this was the last straw. This special occassion restaurant underdelivered in many respects and unfortunately detracted from what may have been a good meal.

Take the time to savor and enjoy; and yes, it helps if you are into unusual combinations, mixture of textures and spices, all beautifully displayed. You don't have to be a Foodie to enjoy but it helps; the wait staff was extraordinarily informed and helpful. An all round treat. One caveat would be the distinction between the "grown" and the "raised" menu was a bit too cute; I would trade off one fewer course (it is a long series of delectable samples) for the ability to switch between the two menus. I would suggest sharing the two alternative menus with your dinning partner. They really do honor the field-to-table, organic philosophy.

My husband and I celebrated our 27th wedding anniversary at this gorgeous venue. We arrived early to photograph some of the most breathtaking views in Loudoun County. Although the restaurant was not yet open, we were content to enjoy the tranquility beneath the outdoor dining area. Nevertheless, Beverly, the owner and host, as well as her stellar wait staff, made certain we were treated like royalty and served us while we waited. After being seated for dinner, we were presented with eight delicious courses from the Raised and Grown menus. Chef Tarver King is truly an artist as each plate was a feast for the eyes and palate. We savored every moment and look forward to our next visit to this superb dining establishment.

There's only two choices from the hand-crafted menu specifically printed for your party: Raised or Grown. My date and I shared each plate, relishing the complexity of flavors intertwining in the beautifully presented dishes. The food is unparalleled, the view, stunning. If there was to be a negative aspect, I would say the service was a little over-attentive, with different waiters attending to the table every 2 minutes, making conversation a little stilted.

We did the Sunday brunch at the "farm" on a cool October Day, it was a special experience. We ate in an enclosed "porch" area with open doors. Some were dining outside under cover. We had made reservations but arrived early, and had to settle for a center table, although there were many vacant tables by the windows. There was a music trio playing music, like "Sailing". Some diners wore suits. Great wine selection and the food was well presented and unique. There were a few too many bugs too contend with like bees, lots of bees due to the doors being open. I did feel for those selecting to dine "indoors" would rather not have had to deal with. But the place was BEAUTIFUL and UNIQUE. We would return and request a table near the windows.

The Restaurant's new chef has continued the house traditipon of excvellent dining. He offers an interesting take on organic dining, with a "Raised" menu and a "Grown" menu. Treatment of each course was intersting and delicately flavorful. What makes an evening here swo specfial is the overall ambiance and a staff who truly does make you feel welcome. I was a bit nervous about trying this place for my wife's birthday dinner party with four of our "foodie" friends, but it turned out to be a great dining experience. My apprehension came from reading negative reviews about the service and value. However, everyone in our foodie party agreed that the service was excellent, and the food was well worth the price! While the menu is only two pre fixe menus, there is a nice variety within each one and EACH course was fantastic! The owner (who visited our table more than once) and staff were very attentive and made it a point to recognize my wife's birthday. Only negative is they need to, at least, grade or, better, pave their driveway - until then, be sure to drive an SUV to the farm.

This restaurant has a wonderful view of the Potomac River and is situated on a working farm. So, it has all that it needs to make the ambience and setting special for any occasion, but the chairs are not comfortable and some of the dishes did not embrace the talents of the chef recently recruited from The Ashby Inn in Paris, VA. where we have dined many times before and found it a perfect dining experience. I hope this will be helpful, as we support local restaurants and especially the ones that support local foods.

Paying $300 for a meal with wine + tip you have a certain expectation. We were greatly disappointed. Our waiter said many of the staff & management so that may have something to do with it. It took almost 1 hour for us to get our first course, we had to pour our own wine the entire evening (traditionally when the wine is off to the side a waiter will pour it for you). With each course the waiter was supposed to read about what we were eating. I think that happened once or twice. For the cost, the tables and chairs looked like they were out of the 1980's. If going with a farm feel, there are much better choices for their decor. Food was ok but nothing special. I was comparing it to Charleston, SC on a cost & experience bases but feel short.

We've been coming to this restaurant for several years now and rate it high, even though there have been some hit or miss meals. When we heard there was a new chef we were a bit anxious since we were bringing guests. The anxiety level rose even higher when we found out there were only two menus to choose from - Raised and Grown and beyond that there were no choices to be made. But the entire meal was like enjoying a symphony. The chef composed an entire meal and we were obliged to relish the entire thing, not just single notes. Every course was excellent and reflected something new and unique to us. Plate composition was excellent and the serving presentation over the top. Being Foodies, we really look forward to more such experiences.

I loved dining at Patowmack Farms, the food was delicious and the presentation of everything was inventive and quirky which was wonderful. Service and ambience lacked a bit. Our server gave zero explanation of anything we were eating or its origin. It was just given to us to eat as though we should know how and what was going on. With such complex dishes it would have been nice to understand how everything was prepared and where locally it was sourced from. Our server wasn't very friendly either, kind of made us feel like we were bothering him because we didn't go with the wine paring for dinner and went with cocktails and beer instead.

This restaurant has been consistently first class for foodies, ambience and views for the last 8 years we have been going there. They recently announced that Award winning Chef Tarver King of the Ashby Inn will be the new Executive Chef. They are constantly moving up the quality scale.

My wife and I celebrated a birthday dinner at Patowmack, both selecting from the Origins menu. The appetizers were both excellent with the gazpacho a standout. The halibut entree was a good portion but the kimchi an odd pairing in my opinion. The ribeye was nicely done but may have been the smallest cut I've seen at 4 - 5 ounces. Both desserts were excellent. The server was helpful and professional and the evening was very pleasant. If I had one issue, it was the speed of the service, We were requested to pick out all three courses at once and it seemed that as soon as we finished one course, the next course was served. I would expect a less frantic pace at a restaurant in this price range.
