The food was good but for being a tap room I was unimpressed with the beer selection. The service was okay. They brought us the wrong food and took forever to get our orders. One of the biggest pluses about the location is that there is an easily accessible parking garage across the street. For a nice evening out I would recommend it but don't have great expectations.

My girlfriend and I got a seat quickly, and our server was both polite and helpful with the menu. The beer selection was impressive, as was the rest of the bar, but the food seemed like an afterthought. It wasn't horrible, but I wouldn't write home about it. For the price, I was expecting more. I'd go back, but not for anything more than drinks & maybe a app.

My husband and I have been to ATR a few times and we have always had a great experience. It gets busy on the weekend so a reservation is probably suggested if you don't want to wait. Our servers have always been great and we are always pleased with our entrees (filet, crab cakes, burger, pizza - all excellent). ATR recently expanded its dinner menu and I think that really expands the appeal of the restaurant - no matter what you are in the mood for there is something on the menu for you - making this great for groups. Not only good for dinner but also has a wide array of brunch options, which are delicious (French toast is crazy and VERY good). The food isn't fancy and they focus on traditional "American" choices but they do it very well.

I ordered an imported draft beer and they brought me the wrong one. The waitress assured me it was the right one, so I went to the bar and the bartender confirmed that it was the wrong one. Not a huge deal by itself, although this place SPECIALIZES IN BEER. After that, the food was fair to poor. We went on Valentine's Day so I got the special -- the spinach dip was like condensed soup, accompanied by greasy fried pita triangles and Ritz crackers -- seriously, Ritz crackers. The lobster tails were nothing special. The chocolate mousse seemed like it was just scooped into pre-fab chocolate cups.

Went with my girlfriend on Saturday night to have a casual dinner out. We've been here before a couple times and always thought the food and menu was decent. This time was very similar but I think we definitely enjoyed our food more. We started with the fried deviled eggs, which were very tasty with a light crispy bread coating. I had the hanger steak which I would definitely recommend and my girlfriend had the crab cakes which also tasted very fresh. The beers were good as would be expected from a "tap room". The only things I would slight the restaurant for was I did not receive a steak knife with my steak and was unable to really start eating until flagging my waiter down. But that can easily be fixed by training their servers a little.

We arrived for a 5:30 reservation and the place was empty. They were going to place us at a table right next to the kitchen. We asked to be moved one table over. The "hostess" said that the table was reserved and put us at another table. Two hours later when we left the table we had asked to be seated at was still empty. Very irritating to be treated so rudely. However, our waiter was good and the food was good.

My wine was fantastic and the bartender took a lot of time with my boyfriend and me, helping us choose our drinks (especially his beer.) It was a smaller portion on the pork chop than I would have liked, especially given the TINY size of the sides. The light-up menus were a fun touch.

I really enjoy the ambiance of ATR, but the quality of the food does not seem to be what it used to. I ordered the chopped salad with salmon. While the salmon was cooked well, it lacked much flavor. The salad also seemed more like a side salad and was not quite as described. One or two of the ingredients seemed to have been swapped out. My dinner partner ordered the skirt steak, and our server asked if the arugula salad was ok as we ordered. He said yes. When the meal arrived, I asked about the arugula salad for my companion. Seems the "salad" was the arugula garnish with the steak. Our server, while attentive, was overly attentive, but also seemed to lack knowledge about the menu.

Food was good and choices were ample. We asked for a quiet table, explaining our group of four had not been together in almost a year and wanted to talk and "catch up." We were shown to a nice booth in the back half of the restaurant where it was uncrowded and quiet---perfect! UNTIL the hostess seated the next arrivals in the adjacent booth. Really--with many, many other tables and booths available??!! Our server was anxious to ensure we had what we needed--to the point of overkill. He interrupted us at least 10 times to offer to bring more drinks (our glasses were far from empty) and to ask if we wanted more appetizers, liked what we had--before we had a chance to taste it--, etc., etc. Good choice for a boisterous night out.

We had a 7:30 reservation on Friday night. Despite the raucous bar at the entrance, our table - toward the bar in the back - was ready within 5 minutes of our on-time arrival and enabled easy conversation. The food - especially the hummus and the fried chicken and waffles - was top-notch. The service was attentive but not stifling. We'd easily recommend ATR to friends.

Very good food - the salads are excellent -- with add-ons like salmon. There's always a bit of "stiffness" from the ladies standing at the front desk, but the waiters are great. Getting a booth is difficult - -they always want to sit you right at the front next to a very noisy round table - -always have to ask for something else. Then there's a booth available, but they insist on making you sit at a table. Bad PR -- the lighting is much too high when you're seated at the tables. MaryClare

When I arrived at the restaurant they couldn't find my reservation. They hurried to put together for us. It happened fairly quickly, and I don't suspect I would have gotten to the table faster, but instead of owning up to their mistake they doubled down by saying that it must not have gone through because I booked it too close to the time 3 hours earlier. Our server was good, and was the saving grace of the evening. He had a good grasp on the menu, and we ordered. When the food came out the chicken dinner was cold, but my steak was pretty close to perfect. The server did return it to the kitchen for a new one, but that meant we ate at different times. I'd say the devils in the details, and they missed on a few of them

We arrived just before our 9:30 reservation, we were told by the 2 ladies at the front that no table was ready and it would be about 10 minutes. We told them we would grab a seat at the bar, and they said they would "come find us" when the table opened up. About 40 minutes later, we asked when our table was going to be ready. The gentleman at the hostess stand said there were plenty of open tables and he didn't know why we hadn't been seated. The lady had a different explanation but it appeared she simply forgot. Once we finished our dinner, we were offered a free dessert (a $6 value) for our wait. The check we received from the waiter was not our check, and we had to go find him to get it corrected. All in all not a good experience.

The back lit menu was fantastic...especially for these aging eyes. I appreciated the moderate noise factor. Conversations could be held without yelling. If I had to critique anything it was that the lighting was quite bright, that is only me being picky, but it would stifle a "romantic" outing.

American Tap Room was just OK for me. I didn't find the menu very appealing. It was a quiet night, or the noise level would have been much higher as the place is lined with TVs tuned to sports channels. I was interested in the pizza, but was warned by the server that the crust is more of a flatbread texture which didn't interest me. For an appetizer I had the fried deviled eggs just because they were a novelty; interesting, but remoulade sauce was too spicy. Lobster mac & cheese had large lobster pieces, but could have been creamier. Mussels were served on a bed of mashed potatoes - mussels were good, presentation was just sort of interesting. Best thing was the service and half-price on glasses of wine night.
