I love Taproom's restaurant early in the evening when it is not crowded and the acoustics have not elevated the noise level to the point where you have to almost shout to be heard in a conversation. I've left with a sore throat the three times I've been there past about 7:30. Sigh. Too bad because the food is good, the service very well done and the beer options fun. More of a bar for standing and drinking and less of a restaurant for gathering and talking when all is said and done.

We managed to get a table easily on a Saturday night, which is not always easy to do in Clarendon. Naturally we started with their pretzel appetizer with marshmallow and honey mustard dip. Very tasty and fun way to start the meal! I ordered the turkey burger, which was delicious, surprisingly flavorful with the tzatziki sauce on top, and cooked perfectly. My friend had the chicken sandwich which was also a tasty choice with its unexpected pineapple topping. Overall great experience, fun vibe, and I'd love to come back for a drink and dinner another time.

Great food selection. The make your omelette station was the best!! The pumpkin filling with the French toast lacked a bit of flavor but the French toast itself was tasty. Bottomless mimosas for an additional 10 dollars with the buffet great!!

I'm a Restaurant Owner. It was Sunday evening at 7:00 p.m. and the restaurant wasn't even half full. The lack of management oversight seems to be the problem here. Our service was so bad that our server had come over and actually asked us after our side salad plates and beverages were empty if we were ready for the check. We should have said yes. However, I said, no we were planning on eating dinner. Are we still able to order? Consistency is key in the hospitality industry and it is apparent there was none this Sunday evening. Our food was over cooked, sauces cold, and drinks took 15 minutes, but our server or any other server that kept walking by would have known if they asked. Terrible service and we'll never go back to this location.

I've been to this restaurant a few different times but always for dinner until this past weekend. The soft pretzels with cheddar ale/ bacon dip is AWESOME. I recommend it at any time of the day. We went for brunch and the restaurant was pretty empty which is surprising for that Clarendon area. I got the chicken and waffles as it's labeled a "staple" on the menu… but it was far less than amazing. The chicken AND waffle were overcooked and dry. I wouldn't suggest ordering it to others. We've been there for dinner before and the place was packed and food was awesome. Main takeaway- go for dinner and skip brunch. :) Note- this could have just been an "off day" for the chef/waitstaff.. but wanted to be honest!

For a place that has been around for a bit, it should have worked out the kinks by now. They do not know how to handle the large Clarendon crowd on weekends. The entire staff were completely overwhelmed. The hostesses were stressed out and a tad rude, the floor manger that night had no clue, and a few other things With all that said, the bartenders were great while we waited for a table for almost an hour. And when we did get a table we had an excellent waitress. The food was above average. The portions are a bit small for the money. Overall, if this place gets it act together it wil be a great neighborhood pub. We enjoyed and will go back again, especially since we live 2 blocks away.

The name and exterior of this restaurant are quite deceiving. Expecting a bar-like scene with sub par pub appetizers, I was surprised by the warm, rich interior of the dinning area. The LCD light up menus were a cool twist adding to the trendy yet down to earth feel. Service was average but every dish that we ordered did not disappoint! You cannot go wrong with any of the steak entrees. Also notable was the arugula and mushroom salad.. I added chicken which was cooked to a succulent perfection! Place was not overly pricey for Arlington. I would highly recommend to anyone looking to for a comfortable yet indulgent dinning experience!!

We had a very nice dinner. We were chilly after being outside all afternoon. Temps had dropped quite a bit so we decided on ATR for all the firey warmth. When we were seated, we changed seats several times looking for somewhere not directly under an AC vent on full blast. Next, the soup of the day was a chilled tomato basil soup. Once we got situated and had our nice warm dinners we were fine and could enjoy the view of the outdoor fire.

ATR has so much potential with a great location, a nice outdoor seating area, big beer selection, and a wide selection of tastes on the menu. The problem is execution. The food is just ok and the service is unattentive. My beer was served in a warm pint glass, our dinner was delivered about 30 seconds after our salads, and the waitress never seemed to be around when we needed her. After taking our dinners (New York strip and Drunken Ribeye) back to the kitchen, we waited about 10 minutes after our salads were gone, which means our food sat under the heating lights rather than on our table. Unless Liberty Tavern, Lyon Hall, Eventide, and others are booked, I won't be going back to ATR.

I have enjoyed teh ATR in Bethesda, so I tried the one on Clarendon. The service was very slow, food was brought out at the wrong times, and our meals at different times. The bread was bad or stale, not sure which. My dinner was oversalted. The hostesses seemed inexperienced.

We have been here for Sunday brunch before. They've added a buffet, but we were hoping to be able to order just pancakes or French toast like we did off of the old menu. Unfortnately you can't do that now. You have to lay out $19 for the buffet if you want those items. We weren't that hungry. Next time we will go somewhere else for Sunday brunch.

I scheduled a business lunch meeting at the American Tap Room - Clarendon. In my online reservation request, I noted this was a business lunch and asked for a quiet spot. The hostess had picked out a great spot in the dining room and went to great lengths to make sure it fit my needs. The hostess and server were very knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive. The manager came to the table to make sure everything was great. The food here is good. I have only had a couple of items on the lunch menu, but they have been very well prepared.

I had lunch here with a business friend. I had the chicken Caesar salad which was OK. My friend had the salmon and it was really under-cooked so it had to go back, which always screws up a meal. Service was OK, nothing to write home about. There seems to be enough on the menu so I would probably try it again.

Beautiful restaurant indoors, the size of the place is deceiving on the outside and huge on the inside. It has comfortable seating and excellent food. The bar is separate from the restaurant so it is nice and quiet and on the other side is a larger sports bar with lots of seating. Looks like it would be great for a large group to hang out and watch games. Best of all it is a non-smoking establishment so no smoke will be inhaled while you are enjoying your meal in the bar or the restaurant. Try the Bavarian pretzels and dips while you are there.

Our area has so few places with pleasant outdoor seating that ATR would be attractive even if the food was awful. Fortunately, it's not - quite the opposite. On this lunchtime visit, we really enjoyed the selection and quality; a half-sandwich-and-soup deal, for example, for those who want to keep it light; the turkey-avocado club was excellent; and the food is nicely complemented by a good choice of drinks, beer, and wine -- for a new twist on a refreshing summer beverage, try a virgin mary with Old Bay-type crab seasoning applied to the rim. Service was excellent; and if the weather is not quite right for sitting outdoors, the interior ambience is good too.

My wife and I keep coming back to ATR. The ambience is upbeat, fun and has a sophisticated feel. More often than not, the service is good and prompt. ATR is very large and has 2 patio areas with beautiful fire pits. It’s great for a romantic night out. The menu is diverse and suitable for even picky eaters, while also being reasonably priced for the area. I love the fried pickles, the pretzel with their crazy dips and the chicken and waffles. However, my favorite thing is the cotton candy. It’s not on the menu, so you have to ask for it, and it’s worth it! In the end, the ATR is our fall back place to when we want to go out, and can’t decide on where to go. You can count on it being a good night out!

This was the third time I had been to ATR but first time at night and first time dining outdoor. We had reservations and were seated right away. Our table was adjacent to the sidewalk. Which was good for people watching but not distracting to our dinner. Service was really good. The food came out timely, and was presented well. The only slight I would give the service was the server did not bring the food herself. Therefore, they did not know who ordered what. Not really a big deal. Our table had crab cakes, trout, ribeye, and salmon. All was good but the ribeye looked a little tough. Maybe not the best place to order a steak. I've also had the swordfish and the pork chop. Both were very good.

Accidentally booked my Mother's Day dinner on Monday not Sunday at another restaurant. Ended up booking a reservation here last second. Great beer selection which is a given. Food was pretty good, I had the ribeye. The server was knowledgeable of the menu and drinks however the menu was extremely limited. I know this helps with food cost and being able to put the best ingredients into the dishes that are offered; however, the food did not blow me away. It was a very nice feel with the large chairs and innovated light up menus, but after all the little innovations there still left some to be desired.
