A word from Timberline Grill - Ameristar Casino Black Hawk
With its walls of reclaimed timber, intricately carved wooden bar and solid cherry wood furnishings, the Timberline Grill pays homage to the best Colorado craftsmanship. And its cuisine is equally impeccable. When you’re savoring one of our signature dishes, such as cedar plank salmon or roasted prime rib, in front of a roaring fire, it's easy to imagine that you're high up in the Rockies, experiencing the deep peace that can only be found in an isolated cabin. One that serves Chocolate Avalanche Cake, that is.

I have eaten here twice. Both times the food has been outstanding! Unfortunately this last time they were short three waiters and the service suffered tremendously. I will go back because I'm hopeful it was an isolated issue.

The Timberline is our destination restaurant for a nice dinner when gambling in Black Hawk, regardless of at which casino we are gambling. For us, the "Mountain Lodge" resort feel, the outstanding service and the good food, in that order, seals the deal.

This was the second time we had been there and, as usual, the food was awesome! Best chicken fried steak around! It did take more time than I like to get served. I'm assuming our waiter had too many tables to manage. We heard another waiter telling the table across from us about the specials but our waiter didn't mention it to us. Not too sure it mattered as we already had our minds set on certain entrees anyway. I reserved a table online from their website with Open Table; however, when we got there, they weren't able to find the reservation in their system. We were still seated right away;however, had we reserved a time for later than 7:00 p.m., we most likely would've had to wait as it seemed to get much busier after we got there.

My wife and I last visited the Timberline Grill in February and had a less than excellent experience. Both our server and the manager did not seem to care and we vowed never to return. Our best friends asked us to join them for their anniversary and although we did have the bad experience we went. New management has taken over the room and it is a much better restaurant than before. Our server, Mariola, was outstanding and our food was very good. The new manager visisted our table and made a great entree selection and checked back with us and was at the door saying good night to guests. Timberline Grill has won us back as customers.

The food is overpriced. I don't mind paying more for quality, but honestly, my cedar plank salmon was overcooked and fishy. Our server forgot our bread throughout the entire meal. It took 20 minutes for them to serve a strawberry daiquiri. I was very disappointed.

I went two nights in a row as I was staying in the hotel. The first night, a Thursday, was absolute perfection. The service was impeccable, even with our waiter being new. The food and drinks were fantastic. I couldn't wait for dinner the next night. The second night, Friday, was reserved as a special occasion due to my wedding anniversary. We arrived early for our reservation and were able to sit early as well. Sadly, there was a miscommunication regarding who was waiting on our table and I had to contact a manager to even get our drinks. However, once I said something they were vert apologetic and provided great service for the remainder of the evening. Overall we loved it both nights and cannot wait to return!

I really enjoyed the restaurant. We had superior service and had a wonderful meal. The only thing I would say that was to my dissatisfaction was the prices. The food was excellent and the wine was good as well but for the price it was slightly out of it's range.

We had a party of eight at 8 p.m. We had to wait, and when we were finally seated we sat for at least 10 minutes for any server to notice. Water, drinks, and bread were delayed. Once Amanda got started, she did a good job and was very enthusiastic. Dinner was excellent with huge portions. The room off the main dining area was perfect for our group to visit. Overall, our experience was enjoyable and just my wife and I plan to come again to celebrate my birthday in September.

My husband and I were hesitant to dine here after reading some mixed reviews but decided to give Timberline Grill a try. We arrived at a busy time and although the hostess was not around the manager immediately saw that and welcomed us, sat us and made some suggestions that we took. Our server was very friendly and although we did not receive upscale service she took care of all our needs. The filet and prime rib were very good as were the crab cakes. The manager stopped by to make sure we were having a good time. We did not have the highest expectations being that this was a casino restaurant in Black Hawk and that it had mixed reviews but we had an excellent experience.

Enjoyed the visit. The lobster bisque was excellent. I had a large filet, medium rare, tender and cooked correctly. My only complaint was that one of the sides was heirloom tomato slices (added $3). There were only three thin slices, with one of the slices including a lot of the center stem material toward the top of the tomato. My wife had a shrimp dish encrusted with parmesan. It also was very good.

We went with another couple to Black Hawk to enjoy the night. The restaurant has a great feel and our server, Maryola, was fantastic. The food was good and the wine was great. The manager checked on us and was very cordial and welcoming. It wasn't one of those fake manager visits to your table. You could tell Maryola and Micha cared about our evening. We will definately be back.

There were eight of us and the service and food was awesome. The filet mignon was fabulous and the wine list is good. The waitress, Mariola, was very attentive and made the experience that much more fantastic. For Blackhawk, this is the one to go to for a great steak, good glass of vino and some great appetizers. The wedge salad was great too.

My husband and I went to celebrate his birthday. The casino and hotel are wonderful and we were sat in a booth that had curtains to have privacy. The service was great and our meal was just as good except for the ribs were very dry and not fall off the bone as advertised. The manager, Mica, was very polite and removed them from our bill and offered some suggestions for another entree. I chose the lamb which was fantastic! A great experience.

My wife and I went on Saturday to Ameristar to celebrate her birthday. The atmosphere at Timberline Grill is very nice and although they were crowded we were immediately sat in a nice booth. Our server was nice and recommended the sampler appetizer. It was nice but had too many flavors and things going on. The real problem was that the BBQ ribs were dry and not very good at all. The manager Mike was very cordial and apologetic and quickly remedied the problem with his recommendation of lamb chops which were outstanding. All in all a good but not great experience. Service and Management made up for the failings of the food.

This restaurant was amazing! I am somewhat of a French Onion Soup fanatic and I am often displeased, but this was definitely not the case here! The French Onion Soup was phenomenal. The filet mignon was tender, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The sides were to die for! We tried the au gratin potatoes and the creamed spinach and both were fantastic. My only regret was that we had no way to take home the leftovers! My husband's porterhouse was so great that he didn't even eat any of the sides because he wanted to try to finish every bite of steak! Very nice setting, romantic and fairly quiet. Overall, fantastic experience!

Very good fillet as well as the lobster bisque. Wine selection was inviting, my only complaint was the lighting as some tables are not positioned properly for the table to view the menu. Just a bit dark in some areas. Other than that its a great place to eat while you take a break from the card tables.

I will say that the steak was excellent and the honey rolls were delicious. Apart from that, I was quite disappointed as I had visited this restaurant before about 2 years ago. This time, a rowdy group who better belonged in a nightclub were talking at the tops of their voices and the management seemed to cater to them as they were probably high rollers but it made what could have been a great dinner, a rather boorish event. We ate quickly and left without dessert or wine and have decided to never return to this restaurant as clearly, each customer is not as important as the next who may be richer. Too bad. There are plenty of good restaurants out there, why repeat a disappointing experience?

Our family came to the Timberline Grille to celebrate three birthday's and two Father's Day events. We were well received and seated in a delightful private room with a large oval table and large comfortable seats. The table was attractively set for eight. We enjoyed the secluded privacy and atmosphere the room provided. Everyone seemed to enjoy their food. We were not rushed and took the time to enjoy dinner and our special occasion. Our experienced server, Mariola was a delight. Micah, the manager on duty came in, welcomed everyone and extended greetings on behalf of the Timberline Grille and especially to my family members observing their special day. All in all, the evening was a positive experience and well enjoyed by everyone.
