WHATEVER YOU DO DON'T BE LATE BECAUSE THEY WILL GIVE YOUR TABLE AWAY. We had A 7:00 p.m. reservation and we were ten minutes late and they gave it to the 7:15 reservation. Then we had to wait until someone left which was not until 7:30. Once we sat down everything was fine. Service and food were good but the service help (the guys who fill water and clear plates could be a little more polished when it comes to performing these tasks.

Cafe La Haye is a quaint restaurant with delicious food. Dining and viewing the chef work in the "tiny" kitchen was quite a treat. I was amazed by what he was able to produce with the space that he had. The risotto was the best I have ever tasted.

  • I have been to Cafe La Haye
    OpenTable Diner Since 2005
    Dined on 4/25/2008
I have been to Cafe La Haye many times and loved it, but was very disappointed this time around with the food. We had two appetizers and two entres and we didn't like any of them. The asparagus was overcooked, the calamari was too salty, the pasta was overcooked and the steak was WAY over cooked. I am curious if the chef was away?? I would like to add that the service was good and the ambiance of the restaurant was great too. This has been one of my favorite Sonoma spots for years, so I was surprised with the quality of food this time around.

All the food was excellent at this restaurant and the service was very good. The Artic Char was something that I have not had before and was pleased to say that it was better than any salmon I've had before, and the fennel mashed potatoes was a delicious twist on a standard. The Angus hanger steak that my wife had was as good as I've ever tasted.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2007

Cafe La Haye is perhaps the most well-rounded dining establishment in Sonoma. The food is excellent, and fairly reasonably priced, especially considering the fresh, seasonal variety available. The menu changes slightly on a regular basis, with a few favorites dotting the menu standing the test of time. The staff is wonderful... attentive and informed, but not overbearing. Artwork exhibited on the walls changes often enough to keep it interesting. Great local and European wine list; wonderful soups and salads; nightly risotto special and fish special; sumptuous desserts. Amazing beef tenderloin filet! Call early for reservations or you might not get in!

We enjoyed the dinner and the service. The food was well prepared and as ordered. The staff was very good and the host/owner was friendly and very welcoming to us and made sure we felt at home even though it was the first time we have eaten at the restaurant. Innovative flavors and incredibly fresh ingredients make the food just sing. We had the pear and celery root risotto and the atlantic char with quinoa and a beet puree. These combinations sounded interesting but really were more than interesting. They were amazing. The dessert--an apple blackberry crisp with homemade vanilla bean ice cream-- was heaven.
