Loved their wine list. Menu choices were only so-so. Nothing I haven't tried before. I always look for dishes that I have yet to try, or ones that have a special twist to a classic. Service was decent, nothing noteworthy. They had awesome, generous pours for their glasses of wines. Bottles seemed a tad overpriced though.

Food was good. Wine is ridiculously expensive for what they offer. Cheapest bottle of Chardonnay was $50 and it was awful. They had one drinkable chard that was $70 and it was from some unknown winery in Russian River. With all of the wonderful reasonably priced California wines its a shame that don't offer more.

This is a basic California food restaurant. It has bars both upstairs and downstairs, but is small, dark, cramped, and boring design wise. It's not high on my list of places I wish to return to because I like more interesting food and atmosphere, but it's perfect for small corporate groups, and people who like basic, well prepared food.

The wine list is fairly short, at least for wines-by-the-glass. However, the wines available were well selected. I was there during happy hour, and so only ordered the small plates from the happy hour menu. The plates are beautifully presented, reasonably priced, and the quality was far above what I would have expected for the price. Everything we ordered was delicious: the chef's cheese plate (3 cheeses with 3 accompanying fruits and bread), the chef's charcuterie plate (3 types of cured meat with mustard, pickles, and peppers), and the house marinated olives. For dessert, the panna cotta was light and refreshing, and the trio of gelato (chocolate, vanilla, coffee) was amazing. It was the richest chocolate gelato I have ever had.

I come here a couple times a month and I've never been disappointed until this past trip. I don't know if the server was new or what the problem was but she was awful. They weren't busy but it took her forever to get my drink order and then like 15 minutes before she brought out our bottle. She was not friendly or personable and a bit rude as well. I hope to never get her as a server again.

our second visit to Gravity Bistro was not as good as our first. Our server was inept, not listening to drink orders and sending us drinks that tasted terrible, poorly made cocktails started the night badly. The food is good but to get the wine that was part of the prix fix menu we waited 40 minutes and had to signal this waiter four times. I doubt we would have gotten our wine without all that effort. My husband will never return. The food is good, but poor service ruins the place.

    1. Staff were nice; tho' they could have used more smiles and warmth. 2. Timing of food was 'off.' We ordered appetizers to share. With the appetizers came a plate half full of bread (someone's leftovers?) with olive oil. Not even enough bread for the 9 of us. 3. Entrees (& 1 1/2 plates bread - that 1/2 plate is strange) were served, except one entree forgotten. Didn't arrive until most everyone had finished. 4. Offered a free dessert, which we declined to go elsewhere for froyo. They comped us 4 desserts (delish!) which was a nice gesture and made us feel better. 5. Food was spotty. Some dishes were good, but tiny portions (bucatini) especially for the price. Short ribs were good, not great. Of note-water pourer was amazing!

Gravity has a good location and could be successful with a wider menu offering and more reasonable prices.

Went to Gravity for the first time this weekend and made a reservation via opentable when I arrived I had to wait about 20 minutes to get a table I had a reservation for. That's just incredibly poor planning on their part. Our server was at least knowledgeable enough to help with drinks and food though. We ordered a cheese plate, the duck liver pate, steak tartare, veal sweetbreads, short ribs and merguez sausage. The food was fairly well seasoned; the only dish that needed help was the merguez sausage, too many restaurants under spice this sausage it's meant to be spicy and it wasn't spicy at all too little harissa paste in the mix, and way too much mustard on the bun.

I've been to the Gravity Bar twice and both times had the same bad experience. The food is good and the ambiance is fair. The service, however well intentioned, is downright incompetent. On my first visit, my appetizer and entree were brought to the table at the same time, while I was still working on my cheese place and pre-dinner aperitif. Thinking that this was perhaps a one-off mistake, I went back, and actually told the waiter to please pace the meal appropriately - as if this should be necessary at a place that charges upwards of $20 per entree! To my dismay, my burrata plate AND my risotto were both brought to the table before I was even done with the cheese and sparkling wine that we were having pre-dinner. You get the picture.

Everything we ordered was very good, and we would have again. Their take on oysters rockefeller was great - not heavy, not rich, but had all the necessary ingredients to make it a delicious but small appetizer. We seldom order dessert, but shared the molten chocolate cake, and it was great.

A great place to go after an evening out. We couldn't find a quiet bar that was open after midnight (besides the usual 20-30 something year old crowded bars), then we stumbled across Gravity. They are open until 2 am and it was a great place to have a drink and some light snacks. Since then we have dined there several times and the food is consistently good. Gravity has now become one of our favorite dinner spots in Palo Alto!

This was my fifth or sixth time at Gravity Bistro and Wine Bar - it's a place I generally enjoy. But on a rainy Sunday evening before Christmas it was a disappointment. The filet and frites - as always - was supper yummy and we shared a great bottle of wine, but the rest of the food was disappointing and the service was lacking. I'll chalk it up to a bad night and will be back expecting better food and service on my next visit.

Service: I definetly felt like we were getting B team service. Maybe because we were a group of mid-20's Asian couples? Either way not very inviting, nor personable. If gratuity wasn't automatically charged, I would have given less. 18% was much too generous for our robot server.Food: amuse bouche of caponata was good, if not overly sweet. We did not receive any recommendations, no information on portion size. The portioned are ridicoulously small. Sweetbread app was 2oz at most? For 12-ish dollars? Mussels were good. Could have used more toast or bread to eat the tasty broth.Burger was decent. Fries were soggy. Short rib is tiny. 3oz cube with 1/2 cup polenta. Minuscule.Duck confit was super dry!

The food was very good and I would go back for that. However, the place was absolutely dead at lunch, which felt uncomfortably awkward. The seating (high tables with stools) may be the problem--it's uncomfortable! Our waitress was nice, but obviously untrained and she knew little about the food. This place could be great, with delicious food and good wine, but it misses the mark.

We had a group of 5 at Gravity, celebrating a family birthday. Our group did a good job of picking up items from all over the menu. We had a cheese plate and some pate; I was given a plate of thinly sliced apples when I asked if they had a gluten-free accompaniment, which was delightful. The short ribs were extremely tender while the duck was also tasty. We shared 3 desserts -- the chocolate cake, lemon pot de creme, and panna cotta, which were also incredible. Chairs and couches are very comfortable. Service was attentive but not intrusive. Fun meal. The sound level downstairs can be very high.
