We see the potential and would like to see improvement in the upcoming future. 1) Calamari - too oily but seasoning was good 2) Pasta with Ragu sauce - ragu sauce tasted very good. pasta was over cooked thus too soft. Cook the pasta in lesser time and this will be a great dish 3) Duck confit - seasoning was solid. Duck leg needs to be really pan-seared to make it crispy. Dont be afraid to heat up the pan to make this dish fantastic 4) Burger - need to sear it outside. It was under cook and under seasoning a bit 5) Wine choice is wide. Cost is reasonable. Guilliams -Cab, Spring Mountain. '06 was good 6) Service needs improvement. Our waiter was not familiar with the menu, food portion, food preparation & wine list 7) Desert is not good

Like the food, atmosphere and décor. Be prepared for lively, noisy and crowded bistro type of feel. Service was only ok; tables a little crowded together -- even for a bistro. Interesting menu but a little disjointed. Interesting wine list and unusual in a good sense. I will go there again but definitely when I'm in an upbeat, energetic mood -- definitely not for a romantic date night out.

Good stuff: Service was outstanding, very patient with questions and requests. Bad stuff: Value of food not worth it. Appetizers were good, interesting and fun. Entrees weak. I had the lamb chops, around $26? I got two very small thin chops. One of which was 50% fat wad and gristle. The flavor was more like venison, very gamey. I have lamb chops often and these were just not good. Served with a tart cranberry-type sauce, overwhelmed the meat flavor. Another had the filet, which was "boring" as she said. Another weird thing; we sat in a booth and the seat banquettes were so high, our feet were off the floor. Also extremely noisy. Being that Gravity is owned by Reposado (which is GREAT!) we were hugely disappointed.

Olives, Cheese plate, and charcuterie appetizers very good. Nice variety of complimentary flavors with the cheese plate (honey, fig, walnuts, grilled sweet onions). Main courses were good - only problem is that both Filet's were ordered medium rare, but actually appeared to be cooked more like the steak tartare... Good service, knowledgeable server.

We were a party of 4, and we were seated upstairs. My mussels and sausage starter was tasty, and my cornish hen was delicious. My husband's frisee salad and his short rib over polenta were good. Our friend ordered the fixed menu, and his duck liver was awful, dry and tasteless, which was a real disappointment. His hanger steak was OK. His wife had a duck confit main course, which was good. The service was very annoying. Our dishes kept coming in 3's, leaving one person without a dish for minutes. Plates were whisked away as soon as a folk was put down, leaving one of us eating all by themselves with no plates in front of the others. I had to hold on to my hen dish to allow my husband a chance to finish it for me, lest they take it.

Came here for restaurant week with a few friends. Came in before our reservation time and they were able to seat us on their second floor. Definitely liked the ambiance and music, our waitress was also friendly but mostly left us alone. The restaurant week menu was good. I had their seared duck liver, honey roasted pork belly, and the Tuscan rice fritters. They were all delicious, but I was hoping for more. Overall, it was delicious, definitely was a great opportunity to try out a place, with a prix-fixed menu and price. Hope to come back sometime for a wine flight.

As soon as we got to the restaurant, the waiter hovered over us for our order, barely giving us time to read the menu. We ordered a salad and appetizer and main courses. The appetizer came in a few minutes but the other persons salad took almost an hour! When we asked about it, they said the kitchen was backed up yet everyone around us was getting food. Turns out the waiter forgot to order it. Then when we asked how long our entrees would take, he said he would put the order in. We had ordered almost an hour before and he hadn't ordered our food! When we spoke to the manager he simply said he was sorry. No offer to comp the salad, bring a dessert or anything. And the food was ok, but nothing special. Drink was just ok too.

This was my fifth visit to Gravity; each visit has been a mixed experience. Most dishes are interesting and well-executed, but not all are successful. Notably unsuccessful is the current preparation of risotto, where the rice has been mixed with a squash puree, producing a grainy rather than creamy result. The wine list is off-beat; the wait staff professes to help, but in fact their help is limited to recommending a few personal favorites since they have not tasted many of the wines. The noise level is borderline unbearable, especially downstairs, and on this visit the upstairs was closed for a private party. I return because the alternatives in Palo Alto are few, but there is plenty of room for improvement at gravity.

I've travelled to Palo Alto for years and I don't know why I never heard of Gravity but after dinner this week, I won't make another trip without putting Gravity on my itinerary. The food was WONDERFUL .... might be the best and freshest risotto I ever had. And everything else I tasted was fabulous as well. Our server was outstanding, she was knowledgeable of the menu and each dish's ingredients. She could tell me which dishes were gluten free and offered substitutes for anything that wasn't. The oysters were very fresh, the mignonette and horseradish were not very good. Although it was fresh horseradish it had zero flavor and the mignonette was too sweet. My husband ordered the duck confit and it was not up to par. Duck confit should be falling off the bone tender and this was not, nor was it even moist. However, my halibut was cooked perfectly and was very delicious. Overall, I think we'd try it again but it wasn't good enough to recommend to a friend.

This was our first time at Gravity for a meal (drinks only previously) and the menu was as good as the wine and cocktail list. It was Sunday and prime rib night and the rib meal was excellent - full flavor and tender. Halibut special was also very good - great sides even though fish was cooked a minute or two too long. Cocktail service and wine suggestions were welcomed and suited our taste, excellent service. Definitely a place that we'll visit again for dinner.

Good wine list but over priced. A good wine bar should have a significant number of moderately priced wines (such as Soif, Oswald, or La Posta in Santa Cruz do). Probably will not return for this reason. Food was well prepared and presented. Overall service was good but the bus persons were not well enough trained.

We have been to Gravity several times and have always been thrilled. The cocktails are outstanding. The food is usually excellent. My husband got the fish special which was very good. I got the short ribs that I have had a few times before. In the past, they were always amazing. This night, they were overcooked. I didn't say anything about it. I am sure they would have re-made it, but I was kind of full. I was surprised that someone came to take my plate and didn't say anything about the fact that my main course was almost untouched. It was the busboy not the server, so that's probably why. The rest of our food was great though, and the service was excellent.

Gravity was a quick grab find when I was visiting Palo Alto to go to The Stanford Theatre and it has become a superfun destination. I celebrated my birthday here last weekend with a group of 8 and had a marvelous evening - attentive but not smothering service, delicious starters and yummy wine and drinks, everyone loved what they ordered. My mother spontaneously brought a cake and was treated very nicely upon arrival (a cutting fee was charged, no problem) which is not always the case. The upper level has a nice, removed feeling for a special occasion and, even with the many choices one has in that area, I have come to feel at home at Gravity and will return often.

My husband and I got out of a movie at the Stanford Theater about 9:15 and walked over here for dinner - the ambiance is lovely and the service (especially from Kent, our server) was fabulous. We never had empty water glasses and our items were served beautifully. Kent knows his wine and gave us great advice about wine and food choices. We had a lovely evening at a relaxed pace and felt it was the perfect place for an anniversary dinner, although we would come back with friends for a more casual evening too. They can accommodate larger groups for dinner at some of their big tables and they have a fun bar table atmosphere downstairs we would check out again on a future visit. Highly recommended!!!

This place is a great find! Located just 1/2 a block off University Avenue on Emerson Street this is a great neighborhood gem. For those of you familiar with Scratch in Mountain View this is from the same restaurant group. The food was phenomenal and there was an eclectic and well thought out wine menu. The staff was friendly and attentive without being pushy. I would recommend popping in for a glass of wine and app or a relaxing Sunday evening dinner.

The food was quite good. Especially the braised short ribs (succulent and tender..never needed a knife). Their play on Oyster's Rockefeller was tasty and playful. Drinks were pretty good; food was ok; many pretty people to look at; food was ok, but not bad. What they need to work on is the waiters attitude- the appeared lifeless and amotivated, so a dose of friendliness, some amphetamine for energy, and an attitude adjustment will help. PS drinks were great- excellent bartender. The place has great potential with a few adjustments.

insanely loud - waiter kept knocking into my chair as he served bar patrons seated back to back with our table. Very slow service. Waiter poured an entire plate of food down his shirt and onto our table and floor. It took two request and 20 minutes to get a replacement. We had to ask that the food on the floor order be comped after everyone else finished eating by the time the replacement finally arrived.

As a party of 8, we were seated immediately (upstairs). The waitress was very friendly and responsive. The food was delicious. We shared and loved the sweetbread appetizer, beet salad and french onion soup. The main courses and desserts were equally as yummy. There wasn't a dish we did not share and enjoy. We particularly like that the serving sizes were not too large. We could taste several appetizers, enjoy a main course and share a few fabulous desserts (especially the bread pudding) and not feel stuffed. Overall wonderful experience!
