Our experience at Jonathan's was shockingly fair, at best. Service was very rushed, we had 2 dirty utencils/plates, appetizer and food was cold, to name a few. We were slightly early and couldn't wait in the bar for a drink, since there was no room. This restaurant needs to take a close look at customer service.

Johnathan's has a great venue for performers if you want to get "up close and personal". To get the best seats, you need to purchase a ticket that includes a dining credit. We have done this in the past and while never fantastic, the food was OK. This time however, we were disappointed. Two of us ordered the pasta disk and either it was overcooked or it sat under the heating lamps too long I might be wrong on this point, but in the past the show we attend regularly (Paula Poundstone) started at 8:00. This time is started at 7:00 and it would have been nice if our server who knew we attending the show, might have mentioned that. We were late to the show and walking up to a table next to the stage is not something you want to do with Paula.

We have eaten at Jonathan's several times and been very pleased. This visit was not good. Service was slow both from kitchen and servers, and an expensive steak was prepared improperly twice. By the time the second preparation of it was served, the rest of the diners were done eating, and we would have been late for a show had we waited to have it done a second time. No compensation was offered and the owner, who we were told was in the restaurant, never came to the table.

We ate at Jonathan's before seeing Billy Elliot at the Ogunquit Playhouse (fabulous production, by the way!). We told our server that we were seeing the show, and he made sure our meals were ordered and delivered in a timely fashion. With our show ticket we received 10% off each of our entrees, a nice touch. I had a special that evening--called something like Firecracker Shrimp Curry, served on a bed of julienned veggies and glass noodles with a light peanut sauce and topped with cilantro. Absolutely delicious! My husband had a seafood stuffed haddock, which he enjoyed. We shared an organic greens and pear salad that they were kind enough to split onto two plates for us. Everything was fresh and delicious. We'd definitely go back!

Reservations for 5:00. We arrived early (4:50 ish) and the other party we were meeting was already there as well. Around 5:25ish we were finally seated...very long wait considering there was an ocean of empty (set) tables to choose from, AND we had reservations! Hostess/manager were not customer focused at all. Not rude, but seemed just not at all concerned that we were waiting. We approached them a couple times during our wait and just couldn't seem to get a straight answer as to way we were waiting with empty tables everywhere. Unfortunately, our waitress wasn't great either. Nice, just very slow and would disappear for long periods. Never asked to refill my beer. Food was good, but overall disappointing. Not repeating.

My swordfish was good but it was not close to being warm. I am grateful for the kid's menu as my niece won't eat much of anything except chicken nuggets and french fries. The service was friendly but quite slow. We were going to the show at the Playhouse and we had to rush to finish eating. We waited 40 minutes for our food to arrive.

I really want to like Jonathan's. Open year-round. Beautiful place. Unfortunately we've been there three times and encountered the same problems. Commercial-tasting over-dressed salads and what seem like pre-packed sauces. Banquet food. Nice pieces of meat tragically overcooked. Staff who seem to be overwhelmed despite empty tables. Each time we had a "team" of two waitstaff service us. The first and second times this was fine. The last time, one waiter - Marvin - covered our table exclusively except for a moment when the other waitress introduced herself and left without doing anything. Marvin was the best part of the meal. I'd go back with a large group because there's little else in the area, but not otherwise.

This was our second time, the food was very good, but the service was bad. It's not that the wait staff was not friendly. It's that they were not attentive to our need at all. Empty water glasses no request for more wine, no follow up after serving entree as to if everything was to our liking. Appetizer dishes not collected sat on table thru most of the meal. Desert was offered after dinner we decided to order the cinnamon coffee ice cream & coffee , after 10 minutes passed and no follow up, we gave up and asked for our check. The food was $$$ which is fine if u get what you expect. I think there needs to be a little training, as to what the customers expectations are and how to meet or exceed them.

Coming from NYC, I honestly wasn't expecting much in little Oginquit, Main but the food was fabulous. Honestly, it took us so long to order because everything looked so good. We went for the Chef's Table Menu. I started with the Voodoo Coconut Shrimp as my appetizer and the Stuffed Quail as my entree. Both were cooked to perfection and the flavors blended nicely. For dessert we split the Banana Pudding in Filo. Yum. Next time I'm getting my own. This is a great place if your going to a show at the Ogunquit Theater. It's just a few minutes away and there was no traffic between the restaurant and the theater.

I booked Jonathan's because it was next to our hotel - the Meadowmere. It was Friday, July 4th & we did not want to hassle with traffic. It was a great choice. We enjoyed our meal and decided to book it for Saturday - while we were still eating on Friday. The restaurant has a large, lovely interior. There is live jazz in the bar and they also host shows upstairs, but where we ate was quiet enough for conversation. The menu features many items grown on the restaurant's own farm. Some prices are a bit high, but we felt it was reasonable for the quality of the food. My husband splurged on the veal loin wrapped in lamb bacon. I had caramelized salmon - both excellent. From appetizer to dessert, no complaints. Great service too.

Not one to comment on restaurants and I do understand that I went on a major holiday but the service was terrible. Service was very slow. Waitresses did not check on us at all and were very rude when we told them we had a question about a gluten free menu. Two waitresses kept bringing us bread even after I told them we were gluten free. The "gluten free" mussles had a giant piece of bread on the top of them. The food was okay but not for the prices. I am willing to try Jonathans one more time on a non holiday because I have heard good things about it. I am hoping it was just a really bad night....

We read some reviews before going and we're warned about slow service. And boy we're they right. We had tickets to a show so we begrudging booked a table 2 hrs ahead of time. Good thing we did. We were seated right away but between ordering and waiting and waiting for service to paying the bill it was tremendously slow. It took us almost two hours to dine! They had only one waitress for an entire room if tables. They need to hire more wait staff. Food wasn't bad but pricey.

It is maybe a little old fashioned in a good way. Basic food, prepared well, well made drinks, and very nice servers. Our grandson loved the 600 gallon aquarium so there was a little bit of everything for everyone. Two of us did the sword fish on a bed of salad. Another had similar except with halibut. Another in our party had the filet mignon. To the bottom line: yes we would return there.

I went to Jonathan's for dinner prior to a 7:00 show at the Ogunquit Theater. Our reservation was for 5:00 on a Sunday which we thought would give us plenty of time to eat. Although the food was decent and the waitstaff was very pleasant, the service was unbelievably slow despite the fact that we informed our servers that we needed to be at a 7:00 show. Also, we were not given the 10% discount that we were entitled to despite showing our theater tickets. Unfortunately, by the time we realized this, we were already late for the theater and could not go back. Two hours should have been more than enough for a dinner without rushing and worrying about time. We did not even have time to order dessert.

Then it seemed that she purposely let us sit & rot, because we didn't want to order right away. -She just seemed very grumpy. -Nice window view; but rather noisy.

The food was very good and fresh. The service is basic, not too warm and pleasant. The restaurant is very noisey. It needs something to absorb the noise. For that reason, I would not want to return, if I were in a group of three or more. It is difficult to hear someone across the table from you. We would have stayed longer and had desert, but wanted to go someplace that we could talk.

The food is superlative and the waitstaff is pleasant, friendly yet professional and quietly unobtrusive. We have been eating here for more than a decade and have always had a wonderful meal. Our favorites include the lobster, chicken, duck and jaegerschnitzel all of which are routinely excellent. When we go there we like to sit in the smaller dining room to the left of the bar as you enter. As the light fades the garden and statuary are illuminated and it is quite peaceful. Also, there is live music on Saturdays during the summer, check their website for details. When in Ogunquit if you can only dine at one restaurant, this should be it!

Iceberg lettuce (yuck) salad was way overpriced! Would have preferred leaf lettuce or spring mix. Scallops tasted ok, but not covered with enough breadcrumbs and no wine or butter sauce. They sat in water, not very tasty. Food was served too quickly, so no time to enjoy the meal/evening. Our party of 4 felt very rushed. Atmosphere is nice, but will not return.

Jonathan's is consistant year after year. My family has eaten at Jonathan's since 1988 and we love the food, love the decor, appreciate the attentive service. Restaurants come and go but Jonathan's always satisfies. Their menu is varied enough so everyone in our party can find something delicious. They don't try to be anything other than what they are... a restaurant that keeps you coming back because you know what you will get when you go there. Great food, great service and a genuine welcome back.

We frequently book the dinner and concert, which includes dessert. The tiramisu and cheese cake were no longer offered, a big disappointment to us. It seems as if the management was cutting corners to increase profits. A cake and apple crisp did not compare. These tickets are pricey, too. Also, the baked stuffed haddock portion has shrunk significantly while the price has gone up. In all the value has deteriorated.

We picked Jonathans' because their website indicated that they had gluten free options available, which my wife requires. When we didn't see anything indicated on the menus, we asked the waitress. She said that she would check. After a 10 minute wait, she returned to the table and asked for our orders. We asked again about the gluten free options and she replied, "oh, yes, there is a haddock meal." We asked if there was anything else and she said no. So, my wife ordered the haddock. The service was very slow (our water glasses were refilled when we were ready to leave)and my Cappuccino never arrived (she claimed she broke the machine, and then laughed about it). Food is good - not outstanding.

The food quality (& quantity!) was exceptional for the price. Service was great for us (but a few tables around us seemed to wait a bit before initially being greatest by the servers...) Ambiance was nice with music playing loud enough to hear but not too loud to cause issues when trying to talk to each other. Parking was on site and easy. Will definitely return to try some of the other amazing sounding items on their menu!
