First time diners at Jonathan's, but read great reviews. We had reservations and were seated pretty quickly, but it did seem as if there was alot of confusion around diners arriving and trying to get organized and seat them. Hosts were very busy, not a relaxing entrance at all. Ditto with our waiter, who asked for our drink order within a couple of minutes of the time we were seated. We found him to be the least impressive part of our dinner. Food was very good, and I think we would return for the food. Very nice ambiance, and beautiful gardens surrounded those with window tables.

A beautiful garden is lit outside the windows. The food is very good - had the Jaeger Schnitzel this time to take a break from sea food, and it was fabulous. The location is very convenient and the service is efficient for dinner before a show at the Ogunquit Playhouse. Jonathan's also has a club upstairs where amazing musicians perform. I have enjoyed Natalie McMasters and Judy Collins so far this year.

I have eaten at Jonathan's quite a few times and this was the first time that I was disappointed not only in the service but the food as well. Our waitress was so slow, we sat with plates in front of us for over 20 minutes. We ordered dishes off the specials list and our fish was way over cooked, the cook ruined a beautiful, expensive piece of halibut and swordfish. The Fresh Maine Salad (which sounded beautiful) lacked flavor. The eggplant on my dish was not cooked enough and the skin was like leather. We told the waitress when she finally came to get our plates that the fish was way over cooked and all she said was "you should of told me earlier". Very DISAPPOINTED!!

Jonathan's has a unique blend of a fine gourmet restaurant and a music venue that attracts world class performers. You start with a gourmet dinner downstairs and go upstairs to the intimate show room for drinks and dessert. We’d go for the dinner alone but the combination makes for an unforgettable evening.

We had a great meal at Jonathan's it was the first time we had been there. The food and ambiance were wonderful, the only drawback was that the waitress was not very attentive, never asked if we wanted another drink, we waited so long for the salad and then the meal came a couple of minutes afterwards. All in all we would dine at Jonathans again. Hope we would have a better server.

The restaurant itself is nicely furnished and the ambiance is nice. The wait staff is very young and untrained. The food was way overpriced for the portions and the taste. Sadly we had gone for the entertainment that was upstairs for that night (who was a personal friend) sadly the room was cramed with small tables and chairs that were not suitable for a nice evening concert. Greedy management/owners will not have my business again or the parties that were with me.

My wife and I stopped in Ogunquit on the way home from Portland, saw an ad somewhere for Jonathans and decided to give it a try. We were very pleased. The dining room was very comfortable. Nice table overlooking the landscaped garden outside. We were given a free sample of the chef's gazpacho. I'm not a fan of gazpacho, but it was delicious. I could taste all the different ingredients.. tomato, garlic, spices...etc. It was very fresh and very tasty. I tried a cup of lobster bisque. I must say it was one of the best I've ever had. Usually lobster bisque is light on lobster and heavy on sherry or Worcester sauce. This serving tasted like lobster.. excellent Our entrees were excellent - salmon and stuffed haddock. Very nice place!

Don't bother! Not as good as it used to be! Good service does not cancel out over-cooked, tough, baked stuffed shrimp and NO choice of sides. Came with large portion of dry mashed potatos and cool julienned vegies, would have prefered a pilaf or risotto and small salad. Fried clams just OK...gritty. Too many other GOOD places to eat in Ogunquit to pay their prices for indifferent food.

My husband & I were both really disappointed with Jonathan's. Our table wasn't ready -- we arrived early for our reservation -- so we went to the bar for a drink first. There was no one else in the bar and yet the bartender could not keep our two drinks straight -- a vodka & tonic and a gin & tonic. The food was not very good -- I can't even remember what I had that night -- it was than "unmemorable". The best thing about the restaurant is the view out the windows of the art in their gardens. I'd save your money and choose a different restaurant in Ogunquit.

My wife and I were very disappointed in Jonathans. The service was very slow, the food was ok. We expected more since the website described it as very good. I probably would not go back unless it was to see a show. I expected so many fish as well due to the website but there were just tiny fish and not many. The hostess turned people away because she said they were booked yet while we were eating, there were so many empty tables.

This is a "must" when staying in Ogunquit. Good food, friendly staff, families with children ar in a separate room so that adults only room i delightful. Live music in the bar area (and also baseball on TV) Music is not rock but more subdued and delightful. PLUS upstairs there is entertainment. We went recently for Paula Poundstone and will be going back for Judy Collins and another guy I have never heard of (Brit humor and music) because this restaurant knows the formula for entertaining, good food, reasonable price and making everyone feel welcome. We stay in Ogunquit (from San Francisco) for 5-6 weeks every summer and always look forward to many times at Jonathans - if for the show, food or just a drink in the evening.
