This was one of the best restaurants I've ever been to! We were coming from the US on an overnight trip to Hotel de Glacé and I had wanted to eat something French in downtown Quebec city. After reading reviews I chose Le Continental and I was so happy I did! We had escargot and salad for appetizers which were excellent the best escargot I've ever had! Then I had snow crab legs with hollandaise sauce and even the veggies were amazing! Server was probably the best waiter I've ever had and the maitre de was fantastic and sociable. Boyfriend had the shrimp and scallops and raved about it although he wolfed it down and I did not get to try some! We had crepes Suzette for dessert and it was a fabulous end to our dinner. If we visit Quebec city ag

It has been 30 years since our last visit and times have changed. Dinner guests would not have been seated without appropriate attire for fine dining. Times have changed - blue jeans, cell phone conversations, lack of common courtesy, etc. Too bad such a high end restaurant doesn't insist on higher standards

Classic French menu and service. We opted for the table d'hote menu but were disappointed with most of the items (except for one fabulous appetizer). Dishes that were being prepared tableside at nearby tables (e.g. chateaubriand) looked really good, though. Guess the moral is: if you eat here, play safe and go for the classics.

Food was just o.k. with a nice presentation but lacking in flavour. Something must be done about the air ventilation, as the pungent smell of flambée food hits you as soon as you enter the premises.

Many dishes are prepared tableside. Our waiter/chef was very friendly and knowledgeable and we enjoyed our interaction with him. Although I rated this overall as "very good", it came close to the "excellent" category. Certainly worth a shot. The restaurant next door (Conti) is owned by the same people and is a great lunch spot.

This was a gvery good experience. We were greeted promptly and our coats where taken and hung up for us. The table was well prepared and reserved in a good location in the restaurant, they seem to like OpenTable reservations. The staff was extremely friendly and answered all questions. This is a special restaurant because your meal is cooked by your waiter-s.chef in front of you. Not very common anymore so worth a look! The decor is outdated but very clean and well kept. The wine list is very good. If your looking for a good experience and you enjoy good wine figure about 250$ for 2 but you can easily get by with no wine and some of the less expensive items on the menue for 45$ a person. Enjoy!

It's hard to rate our groups experience at Le Continental over the Christmas holidays. The flambe steaks made tableside were great, but those having the salmon and veal were very disappointed. Likewise, the waiter was quite pleasant, but the maître d’ was rude.

The restaurant has been around a long time and it shows a bit. The flambe tenderloin was very good and the waiters were excellent. The soundtrack that was playing was terrible - muzack of Broadway's greatest hits. Decor felt like an 80s steakhouse.

Elegant yet friendly. The french speaking waiter did everything in his power to make our dinner as perfect as possible. We made several requests, such as "no onions, etc." to which he made special note of when he served the course. Located in a wonderful part of the Quebec City historic section. This dinner will be remembered and talked about forever.

I highly recommend this restaurant. We were celebrating a birthday with a large group, and the wait staff could not have been more attentive. The primary problem with Le Continental is that it is very noisy. One has to nearly shout to speak with the person across the table. Not at all the place for a nice quiet, very expensive dinner. The service was fair - we had to ask for an ala carte menu - they apparently pegged us as the type of people who would prefer one from column A and one from column B people. The salads were very good, as was dessert. The entre's were average. The waiter was ovebearing and not at all helpful. when we were ready to leave it took forever to get the bill. Overall I'd never go back.

We had been there 30 years ago for our honeymoon and returned there this past weekend to celebrate our anniversary. We loved the whole experience 30 years ago and it was even better this time around! It says something for a restaurant to be in business for 55 years! Great ambience, great food prepared mostly at your table. Waiters are professional and dress the part. We were well taken care of. Hope to be able to return for other memorable anniversaries!

Le Continental has long been our favorite restaurant. We had not been there in a while as we do not travel much. We were delighted to go back and to find that, even though a new generation has taken over, little has changed. The food is superb - especially the table-side flambes which offer entertainment as well as excellent food. This is definitely the place to dine in Quebec. It is equally good for a group of friends as for a romantic couple. Not to be missed is their signature dessert - Gatteau St.-Honore. We will be back whenever we can. We actually ate there twice on our short visit to Quebec City !!!

Specialty of the restaurant is the venerable and labor-intensive tradition of table-side food preparation. Our canard à l'orange, prepared this way, was just perfect.
