I took my husband to Quebec City for his birthday. We stayed in the Old City at Auberge St. Antoine and walked the short distance to Restaraunt Le Continental. We made reservations and our little romantic corner table was waiting for us! We don't speak any French besides hello, please and thank you, and we were thankful that our waiter had very good English. The food was delicious (filet flambé and salmon), and it's a fun show to have the authentic Caesar salad and flambé dishes made right in front of you. Highly recommended for a great meal in a convenient part of the town.

The restaurant is known for flambe and they do a truly outstanding job in this regard. Their Caesar salad is made at the table in a traditional fashion and is to die for. Our server prepared shrimp at the table which were perfectly cooked and had an amazing flavour. Additional meals were rack of venison. Yum! The staff are very friendly and helpful. All courses were outstanding. Wine recommendations were excellent. Not a cheap place but worth every penny. Be sure to have at least one meal they prepare at the table. We will definitely be returning.

The moment you walk in the door you know this restaurant has its act together and you can see they are going after a first class dinning experience. One reviewer though this restaurant is for older patrons. But the night we were there we saw a mix of all ages and why not, incredible food appeals at any age. It was our 30th wedding anniversary and WE Highly recommend Le Continental for a special occasion. We each had the filet and it was sweet torture smelling the sizzle of butter and prime beef a mere three feet away for 15 minutes! If we lived closer than 7 hours we'd make up excuses to come here. My husband said as we walked out the door to our waiting taxi, "Honey, you hit it out of the park when you found this one".

I went here with my mother and 11 week-old infant and they couldn't have been more accommodating for us. The noise level was very quiet, the staff were very professional and friendly, and the food was great. We tried the Spanish and Brazilian coffees that are warmed and prepared right at the table with fire. The server did an excellent job with both preparing the coffees and giving us a bit of a show. The food definitely met our expectations. The onion soup wasn't the best we had in town but still good. We appreciated them accepting us as guests with an infant and not once did they make us feel we were an inconvenience. Great restaurant!

As always, wonderful food, impeccably served in the courteous tradition of the 1950s. The only dark spot was that I had called just after making the reservation on line, to ask for a window table since this was a special occasion. On the telephone, they told me that they would find a good window location for us and that they had made a note on this. But once we arrived, we were told that our reservation was through opentable and that there were no window tables reserved for us. Other than that, excellent experience.

My wife and I visited Le Continental during a recent vacation in Quebec City. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner, and definitely felt well taken care of. We do not speak French, but the wait staff was very friendly, helpful, and patient with us as we muddled through. I would describe the food as old-fashioned, or classic. Nothing fancy or especially innovative, but well-prepared and tasty. Whether or not one feels that justifies the expense is a personal decision. I, for one, went in with the expectation that it would be expensive, but also that we would have a satisfying and enjoyable experience at the restaurant— I felt that's absolutely what we got.

This place is exactly what a top of the line big night restaurant would have been in 1965, with a few modern conveniences. It was good then, and if you can still get it, it's good now, or actually, excellent. The waiter will not come up to you and tell you his name is Patrick, the food is identifiably classic French cuisine artfully presented, the room is beautiful in a beautiful city.

Old world table service oozing refinement and sophistication long forgotten with today's fast and furious style of service often experienced with the avant grade style restaurants we see today.....or at least we thought. Step back into time with waiters who know the meaning of "attentive service" and who truly "focus on the details". The menu enraptures the carnevours who salivate at an incredible cut of meat, cooked to perfection, and thoughtfully considers those who wish to dine on a slightly lighter fare as well. You will not be disappointed in choosing Le Continental as you will leave with a very memorable experience.

Fabulous experience! This s a place you must go to at least once in your lifetime to experience table side service. The wait staff were very professional, helpful and knew how to cook! The place is a flashback to the 1960's and that part of charm. The food was phenomenal! The table side Ceasar salad was beautifully made and the rack of deer was cooked to perfection. Next time, I will most definitely have a flambe steak. I would recommend this spot to anyone who enjoys food!

This restaurant takes you back to a time. At Le Continental, most meals are cooked table side with lots of flame. It sounds dated but it was fun and done with style. My wife and I had filet and it was great! Cooked to perfection and with just the right amount of spice and a delicious sauce. The waiter was very attentive and the only reason I did not rate the service higher was his lack of knowledge about he wines. It could have been partially a language barrier but he really did not seem to have a good grasp of the wine list. Still we did end up with a fine bottle . I suggest maple sugar pie for dessert. Traditional dish and really quite good. Also saw another table order Spanish coffees. Worth it just for the show.

The food here is old fashioned and very tasty. Go for the Flambe for a great show. But don't expect to be blown away by creative taste or execution of the plates. Definitely recommend this place for dinner, wine, apps, the whole works. You won't regret it if you walk in with the proper expectations around the food. We were English only, and we noticed a big difference in the level of service and attention towards French speaking vs. English. Not the greatest feeling to be "left alone" but also don't blame them.

What a fun restaurant, I felt like I went through a time warp back to the 1960's with classic French cuisine prepared tableside. The caesar salad for two was by far the best with the the art of flambé being a not too distant second. The sides from the kitchen are not good at all however the skills displayed by the waiters are impressive. It's a real chance to witness a true service profession that is dying, or maybe will it make a comeback?!

Le Continental was our very high first choice for dinner restaurants in Quebec since we had dined there in 2003 and had a very nice dinner with exquisite service. BUT things have changed at Le Continental. The food is still excellent but the level of service has degraded over the years. I ordered the fillet and my wife ordered the Dover Sole. They had my fillet (prepared table side) finished and sitting on a plate to rest for over 10 minutes then put it back in the pot on its end to keep it warm for another 15 minutes. After a total of 25 minutes, the Dover Sole came and was filleted table side. During this time we had run out of wine and finally got another waiter to bring more wine. We ran out of wine again. It took 2.5 hours in all
