I had not been to Pearl in a number of years and other than the location, it was not at all what I remembered. The menu was pedestrian - I had the maple salmon - it was good. Actually, it was much better than it read on the menu... We were there on a Saturday night and there was one other table in the whole place.

My boyfriend and I went on a Thursday at 5pm to go for the buck a shuck oysters. It was quiet as we were the only ones at the place. We were given 4 different kinds of sauces with the oysters and they were fantastic! We also ordered the 3 course meal special to share with seafood clam chowder, seafood penne and creme brulee dessert for only $25. All the dishes were very good and well worth the price. Our sever was very nice and friendly and came to check up on us regularly. I would definitely come back next time when I am around the area.

Went for dinner about 7 PM. The service was fine and the food was very good and well presented. However, the music was far too loud for easy conversation. So annoying. However, our biggest issue was how dark it was. We couldn't read the menu without taking turns holding up the table candle at weird angles close to it. Once each of us located something that looked appealing we were relieved we had at least found something and stuck with that item. I am sure there were many tasty items that we missed. It was so bad that our server brought us (and many other tables) a small flashlight to assist. A flashlight! Really? What with so many other excellent choices along the same road we won't return

I love the ambiance... but when Pearl first changed from fine dining to bistro I did not care for their menu so I stayed away. So after quite a long time I decided to try it again and I'm glad I did. My friends and I were very impressed with our meals. The menu will will appeal to all appetites whether large or small and they have an excellent selection of wines. Molto Bene!

If we'd realized they have amplified music on Wednesday night, we wouldn't have come. Between the automobile/motorcycle noise from Marine Drive right in front of the restaurant -- with the front face of the place fully open to that noise -- and the too-loud music from the back of the restaurant, it was just too noisy for someone with a hearing problem. Normally, we would choose a table as far back from the road noise as possible, but that was impossible due to the position of the musicians. (However, with my hearing aids turned below half volume, I could tell the musicians were really good. I just couldn't hear anything else -- like my table companion's or the waitress's speech.)

I live in the area and have never been to Pearl as it used to have a reputation of being overly expensive and pretentious but have been to Onyx and liked it. I decided to go for my birthday because I love oysters and saw they offered them. I will not go to the boathouse in white rock as their food and service is horrible so I was thrilled to see another location offering oysters. Long story short the food was fantastic, the servers appeared to be very new and unsure of themselves but overall I will return.

Pearl used to be one of our favorite restaurants on the beach.....unfortunately we won't be back. We had been there about two months ago and I guess they were in a transition phase and all was not as it was before....sloppy service, lukewarm food, etc. but we thought it was perhaps an off night. On Friday we decided to give it another try...a new menu had been presented so off we went. Not impressed by the new menu when the only thing I found to my liking was halibut and chips....I could have that down the street. My partner's grilled halibut was hot and tasty. My mussels were lukewarm and tough and I had to ask for a small fork( that should be a given when you order mussels, crab or oysters ) Sorry, we won't be back. Very disappointed.

I will start off by saying that we used to go to The Pearl when it had higher standards and a better menu. It now seem like any of the other fish and chip places on Marine Drive. We requested a patio seat for 4 on the reservation and even though I understand that there are no promises we were placed near the back on a nice sunny day. It seemed to start out ok but soon we found that things were left on our table after appys were done and a second beer was ordered and never brought but applied to the bill. We all had the halibut and chips but found the portions quite small with about a tablespoon of coleslaw. The menu was quite small and nothing caught our eye and the ambience was that of a bar.

While the staff touted their new menu, there seem to be other changes afoot that left our dining experience lacking. FIrst, it seems the prices have gone up. In the case of wine, both by the glass and by the bottle, way up. Our entree was tiny and overpriced. It seemed more like an appetizer. The restaurant seemed understaffed. We waited an hour and fifteen minutes between the arrival of our appetizers and the arrival of our entrees. The server stopped by on two occasions to tell us about large parties causing the delay but the restaurant was not full and it didn't seem the parties were getting their food either. I ordered a mixed cocktail that i sent back twice before simply returning the third. The drink was made incorrectly.

Fnally a white rock restaurant that serves giod food AND has a nice decor. I have had lots of good meals in many of the beach front restaurants over the years, but even the best ones look like they were fish and chip shops with a quick makeover. Pearl is very tastefully decorated, the seats are comfortable, and the food was great. We enjoyed brunch last week and the Hollondaise sauce for the eggs benedict was definitely home made - a sign of a chef that has some pride. We will definitely be back for dinner, as the oyster bar looks like it is very well appointed.

We were the only table in the restaurant the whole night :( The Pints of beer are the smallest pints we have ever seen and I don't think their 30 min Caesar had any alcohol in it at all. The macaroni was very good though, otherwise for the prices their portions are very small.

As a starter, we had flamed prawns. The sambuca was a full ounce and overpowered the entire dish. We also had oysters which were good. My husband had the short ribs...he got only one very small piece. I had the southern chicken. The chicken was overbrowned on the exterior and slightly overcooked. My cornbread was extremely stale.Garlic mashed potatoes were like lumpy glue with garlic powder. The waiter removed my chicken off our bill without being asked. The wine list was extensive and overpriced. The 9 oz glasses of wine were around $17.50 each. I had phoned earlier to find out what their corkage fee was if we brought our own and was told it was $25 (really). It felt more like a bar than a restaurant with the noise and high bar-type tables
