Very pleased with the over-all experience. First came to the restuarant/bar when it was under a different name in the seventies. What a great time. Food was tremendous. We had relatives from Alberta who wanted a restuarant by the ocean ............ This was our first choice. Will be there again. John S. Griffiths Vancouver, BC

Almost everything was perfect. The only change I would make is the music genre ... techno/rave music is not appropriate for the mood of this restaraunt. No one at our table wanted to hear bass pounding electronic. Soft jazz or blues, even chill or mellow worldbeat would have been better.

The service and the food are not constant in this restaurant. On a previous visit, my food (steak) was undercooked to the point I could not eat it and the waitress argued with me about what "medium" meant. On that visit also, the waitress forgot to bring an appetizer and then argued about that. I was not going to return, but had a friend from out of town. On this occasion both the service and the food were fine. This is not a restaurant for serious foodies. The wine list is overpriced and frequently, the restaurant is understocked.

I had just worked an 11 hour day and wanted to treat myself to a great dinner. My server, Carolyn, was excellent. She took great care of me and made wonderful recommendations. I chose the steak and crab stuffed jumbo prawns. The prawns were delicious and the steak was cooked perfectly. Unfortunately, the spice rub on the steak was way too salty so I couldn't enjoy it. Normally I would have sent it back for a new one, but due to the late hour and the fact that I was very hungry, I just scraped off as much of the spice as I could. The salt had completely permeated the steak so that was all I could taste. I did eat most of it but would definitely think twice before ordering a steak again - it almost ruined the entire meal.

The setting was lovely and the staff attentive and well informed about the food and wine. The food was, sadly, very ordinary. The Seafood Pot Pie was too creamy with not enough fish - in short, boring. The Seafood Grill comprised of salmon, shrimp & scallop kabob was overcooked, but the roasted veg were well chosen and tasty. The Miso Halibut was good but served with rice - it didn't have any visual WOW when it was presented. The chance to have 3 x 2 oz of BC wines was a nice touch for those being introduced to the wines of the province. The Sourdough Bread Pudding was hearty and filing. The texture of the key Lime Pie felt off.

The Boathouse English Bay has always been a favourite of mine. Every time the service is exceptional, attentive without being intrusive. Small details, like watching when your wine glass is close to empty and asking if you would like another (ordering by glass). The quality of food is always excellent, and the portions for all items, including starters and salads, very generous. The desserts are also excellent. I find the prices for this type of dining very reasonable. The whole experience there is very consistent. Have been there many times over the years, and was never disappointed. They really know how to pick their staff, very genuine and sincerely gracious people.

Price is reasonable. I have ordered a steak and some seafood. My girlfriend loved the atmosphere. Overall, everything was good, but i had a bad server. She did not care about my table too much. Other than taking order, i did not know what she did for me. After finishing my main course more than 15 to 20 minutes, she did not come to pick up my dishes. why? she was talking with other customers. (I do not know whether it is about my ethical group or not). I am delighted that other servers were willing to help me although he knew my table was not under his "jurisdiction".

The food and service were fair to middling but was compensated somewhat by the excellent view. Next time, for the same price, I'll take my guests to the Raincity Grill (just half a block away) where I know the food is superb, the service is impeccable, the wine list is possibly the best in town and they have just as nice a view.

While the location and the ambience is good the food does not always match this standard. For an uncomplicated meal the Keg is preferable, although the downside of this chain is that the restaurants are dark , often noisy with too many TVs to disturb the meal.

I love the Boathouse, but this was a VERY disappointing experience. It took over an hour for us to get our food and when we did, my meal was wrong, my friend's prawns were cold and my other friend was brought the appetizer size of the meal instead of the meal size he ordered. Even though they took 20% off our bill because of the service, now I'm reticent to go back and that really bugs me, because this used to be one my favorite places to eat. Help!

I have previously been to the boathouse in english bay and enjoyed my time. I was disappointed in my most recent experience. Unfortunately our server was not very attentive and the service was slow as was the food (1.5 hours to get food and we had a child at our table). The server seemed unsure of herself and made mistakes processing the bill... perhaps she was new? One person at our table had a rotten potato on their plate (we were discounted and the Manager did attend to us which was good). Another person was sick with diahrea and stomach pains from the meal which lasted for a day. As always the view and the setting were fabulous... unfortunately I will reconsider going to the Boathouse any time soon. :(

We found that the service was too fast. We ordered our starter and it was on the table in less than two minutes. Our entrees arrived straight after we put our forks down. It felt like we were part of a production line. Our server knew that it was our anniversary and arrived with two small bottles of sparkling wine. This was a great start to the evening. Thanks.

Service is always great and the fish is amazing. Had a not-so-good dish on New Year's Eve in 2007 and they replaced it with another dish, no questions asked. I recommend the salmon, the best I've ever had by far (even better than our own at home!). Very quiet for lunch, however only the bar portion is open on weekdays at lunch, so no kids allowed!

Waiter excellent, but food was cold. When mentioned to person I was paying, he was very rude and said I should have said so at the time. Given the situation and that my boyfriend's vehicle was just in an accident at the restaurant - hit by a cab, I never had time to mention how icy my meal was until he asked and since he asked, I said so. As well, I couldn't make an issue of it in front of any of my family as it was a special occassion and I didn't want to draw attention to the fact my meal was cold. I said it would be nice if he wanted to give me a meal credit of some kind for the future, but he said no and started to get obnoxious. Anyways, a manager on staff was very apologetic and said I shouldn't have been treated as I was.

Everything about our meal was highly reccommendable. The service was friendly and prompt, the restaurant was clean and who could complain about the view of English Bay! The food was delicious, and quite good value. My only complaint is that your web-site led me to believe we would be going for an Easter buffet, complete with a roast beef, seafood, salads and desserts, at under $30, which I was really excited about and looking forward to.

I thought the menu was outstanding. The only disappointment was within the apple and cranberry crisp. Overall a delicious dessert but at the base was a very sour bread like ingredient which did not match with the fabulous taste of the rest. This specific dessert would reach perfection without the bread. Thank you
