This was our first visit and we will definitely return. We had the chicken with bread pudding and the Berkshire pork chop with a split salad. The food was delicious and it is not too noisy which I appreciated. The owner stopped by toward the end of our meal and we had a great chat. They are a very gracious couple - really wanting to do things well. The restaurant is located in fun nook with a bar in the next building that had live music - something kind of nice if you want to have a drink and listen after dinner. The decor is a fun antique - Jack London theme. One picky comment - entrees are served on what looks almost like a luncheon-sized plate. This made it difficult to cut food without spilling your meal over the sides!

We have always loved Catherine's food, whether she was catering a special event or at her restaurant. The restaurant venue has always been quite charming and I was a little nervous when I read that she was taking it more upscale. But never fear! It is still charming and now has new touches that make it even more special- like the chandeliers hanging from the vaulted ceiling- without being pretentious. It is such a warm and inviting space. There were 4 of us and we all loved our food, and were able to converse without it being too loud. There is a large table for 8 right in the center of the dining room, and I was envisioning the friends I would gather up to fill that magical spot.

We had a romantic dinner for two at the Olive and Vine which was absolutely spectacular. The wonderful menu, the terrific wine suggestion and the service and ambiance was outstanding. I would definitely recommend Olive and Vine - the dining highlight of our spectacular 5 day trip to Wine Country.

Second time here, food was spotty - some excellent, some good, some didn't work. Service was less personal than before, but reasonable. It was much more crowded, so attention was spread thinner over more tables. Still a nice dinner experience, but not as special as our first time 6 weeks ago.

Food was disappointing. Figs were good but a tiny portion for $11. They ruined a Wagu steak with way to much seasoning and pepper. The sea bass was not seasoned how the waitress described it. Not somewhere to revisit.

This was our second visit to this restaurant. The first time everything was beautifully done. Not so this time. A special salad contained peaches that were mealy and tasteless. A nicely presented Berkshire port chop was overcooked, tough and dry. The owner stopped by our table and inquired about our meal. We told her all of the above and she expressed regret and removed the pork chop from our bill. We think she did the right thing for us and we will probably return at a later date.

Cafe La Haye take notice! This couple know how to cook, and the menu is creative but not pretentious. Each dish was a culinary combination of flavors and textures that left you wanting more, the fig appetizer, and the goat cheese flan was light and rich and delightful. We also enjoyed the half chicken stuffed with bread pudding, and moist all the way through. The highlight of the evening was the grouper with coriander, fresh vegetables and beans and flavors that make us want to go back for more. And do not forget coffee after dinner served in your personal french press, and with flavor to savor. This is a HIDDEN GEM. I am not really sure I want to share the wealth!

  • The food at Olive and Vine
    OpenTable Diner Since 2004
    Dined on 9/9/2011
The food at Olive and Vine was excellent. The service on the other hand was not. It took a long time for the dishes to be cleared from one course to the other. There seemed to be a party of about 8 people that the owner knew that seemed to get all the attention from the servers and we seemed to be ignored at times. I always think that after you have received your entree that the server should come over and see if everything is alright. We were not asked about any of the dishes we had from the server. Like I said the food was excellent but the service needs to be improved on.

This restaurant is off the beaten path in Sonoma area. Run by Catherine, a catering queen, and Jonathan, sommelier, the food and wine listings are greatly paired. Heavy of the pinots which provides a wealth of options across the entree selections. The half chicken entree was great as was the heirloom tomato soup!

Olive and Vine is a wonderful addition to the Sonoma County dining scene. It's great to have a fun and creative restaurant in Glen Ellen. The food is fantastic! Fresh and natural flavors, an interesting menu, and great ambiance. The service was very good but a little slow at dessert. What a find. This little gem is a delightful spot for a good meal. Our table of four loved the starters and desserts and the chicken and halibut entrees. Only disappointments were the pork chop and the hostess seating another incomplete party immediately when wd been waiting. After that hurdle the service improved. Our server was enthusiastic and very sweet tho a bit scattered. Definitely helps to be a regular here as those tables had visits from the chef and her husband. All in all a pleasant surprise

The food was wonderful, the atmosphere very warm and inviting and the staff were very accommodating. We drove up from the Bay Area looking for a place that was warmer and felt like being in the country and this restaurant fit the bill. We were slightly late for our reservation and they were able to still allow us to enjoy a leisurely dinner. My husband had the Kobe beef which was extremely tender and cooked to perfection and I had two starters, the dumpling soup and the grilled calamari salad which both were very tasty and each had sufficient portions to make the combination a satisfying meal. We would certainly recommend the restaurant to others if they were looking for a relaxed wine country dinner with great fresh food.

We went here for the first time because of an Open Table email alert. We were very impressed. It was a little warm in the restaurant the night we were there, and it isn't an easy place to have a conversation, otherwise, my score would be higher. The food was OUTSTANDING in every way, and the wine recommendation was spot on. I highly recommend this place.
