The menu was too limited and this included the pasta dishes available as a single offering; equally disappointing to hear that the pasta counter is to be replaced by a steak bar. A lovely outdoor setting, great for the sunset and early night.

  • Not our idea of Character Dining
    SummervilleDiner
    Dined on 6/1/2012
While the food was very good, the only reason we booked this particular restaurant was because of its purported "character dining." There was one character, Scooby Doo. When I asked the waiter when the other characters would be appearing, he said there were no other characters; it was just Scooby. I asked why Scooby Doo was the only character that night and he said it was always just Scooby. Having many character dining experiences at Disney, this was a major disappointment. We would have eaten elsewhere if we had realized what their version of character dining meant. My son was very disappointed.

We visited this restaurant on two other occasions and have always been pleased with both the service and the food. I highly recommend this resort for a day's visit or special occasion. Our ultimate favorite is for the Easter brunch-it is phenomenal!

Food was delicious, the wine was great too, but I think there were very few waiters and the lady that was assigned to our table couldn't handle all the orders. It was a buffet we we ordered from the menu. Our dinner took a long time!!!

We ate Easter brunch and the food was good, but not excellent. The Champagne was wonderful and unlimited, which was a plus. My toddler loved seeing Scooby Doo, Woody Woodpecker and the Easter Bunny. On a negative note, we were seated and we went about 10 minutes with no server. We finally got the attention of a busser, who brought us drinks and learned that our assigned server had not shown up. After the situation was finally resolved, and we were given a new server , things improved. However, we were not offered anything to compensate for our inconvenience and no manager ever spoke with us regarding our problem.

Our experience felt like a true European night on the piazza. In Italy things slow down when it is time to eat. There is no hurry to eat dinner, it last all night. The food was excellent, loved the pasta bar. But the service was slow, although friendly. Don't dine here if you want to do something else that night. It is best enjoyed all evening. The sunset and live music only added to the Italian ambiance. We highly recommend it.

Although the food was good, I was not impressed with how they served the meal. We ordered some small plates as apps and then our main course but the only issue the small plates and main course came out at the same time. I also asked the waiter to decanter the bottle of wine to allow to breath, of which I reminded him twice but he did when we served our wine........???????? Again, the food was good but not a lasting impression...

For the most part, our dining experience was just okay. We were greeted very warmly when we arrived, and our server was very pleasant and helpful. But my wife and I had quite a different experience with our food. I ordered the spicy chicken special, which was loaded with flavor and spice, quite good. My wife ordered the grilled Mahi Mahi, which not only was the portion quite small for the price advertised (I could get the same quality, and similar or larger cut at Jimmy Buffets for almost half the price), but it also had absolutely no seasoning. The shrimp that accompanied it were much too overcooked to be served. That plate was overall completely disappointing. The evening would have been a complete disaster if not for our server.

Had Christmas brunch here for about the fifth time in 10 years. It was very good, decent bubbly, good prime rib and lots of nice sides. The only drawback was that a lot of the foods on the cold bar were not labeled. I don't eat seafood and I almost ate some calamari in a salad thinking it was pasta. Fabulous service for a buffet.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2006

Took awhile for the wait staff to notice our table, but once they did, they took good care of us. We've been going to the Thanksgiving buffet since this restaurant opened, and it varies in quality each year. This year, the shrimp cocktail was sadly lacking in quality. Rather than several piles of shrimp on ice, they put each shrimp on a skewer, so that it was warm and mealy. The scallops were under-cooked and the polenta was runny. On the plus side, the turkey, potatoes, stuffing and seafood chowder were all very good. And the chocolate bread pudding with vanilla ice cream was the best of the otherwise humdrum desserts.

This review is for their Traditional Thanksgiving Day Champagne Buffet. We have been 4 years in a row. The food is excellent. (And we are from New Orleans, so we are spoiled with good restaurants at home.) It is a high quality food, not your typical buffet. Unlimited champagne. Face painting and balloons for kids. Musician. Universal Characters. Kids buffet. Omelette and pasta stations. Seafood selections. Turkey (tender and juicy). Soup (fabulous chowder), Breads and flavorful cheeses, salads, desserts and more. We sit outside every year. The weather is beautiful (mid 70s). It feels like we are in Italy. And the kids are entertained with the balloons, face painting and characters. Can't be beat!!!

We had the Pasta Cucina all you can eat pasta buffet that they have on Friday and Saturday. The pasta wasn't the best, but it definitely wasn't the worst. Salad and breadsticks were good, and the 10+ mix-ins they had were super fresh. After a longgggg day walking around the theme park, the big bowls of pasta hit the spot.

We were disappointed with the very slow service from our nice waitress. Although the restaurant was almost empty, it took so long to get our food and the whole experience left us with a sour taste in our mouth. For such a lovely hotel, I'd expect the restaurant to be at least passable, if not delicious & lovely.

You would think that planning ahead and making reservations would be the best bet while vacationing, but this was not the case! On Tuesday, October 18th, my family and I abandoned our great time at Universal Studios Theme Park so we would not be late for our 5:30 dinner reservation at Trattoria del Porto. We arrived right on time with our appetites ready to go and waited outside the restaurant for 15 minutes. The doors were locked and the lights were off! We couldn't imagine what was going on so we consulted the concierge at the hotel and they told us that the restaurant was not open on Tuesdays! It didn't help that the concierge acted like we had lost our minds even though we had the email confirmation for our reservations! BRILLIANT!!

Had visitied here the last time and enjoyed it more. They did not have the wine I requested and would have had to purchase a moore expensive one. The menu was limited. Two of my children, 17 and 12 ordered a side of meatballs..way to much. Wish the waitress would have warned us - one side would have been enough for 3 people. The menu was also limited...ambiance was nice. We found we did better eating on CityWalk.
