  • Seriously great food without

Seriously great food without pretension, as finely prepared and flavorful as any I've had in Miami or New York. The vegetable tart appetizer sounded a little tricky, with pea sorbet, but it was delicious and a fabulous, cold contrast to the rest of the dish. I'm allergic to shellfish, which was in the sea bass entree, and asked if they could prepare it some other way. I expected something adequate with a couple of teeny vegetables. Instead, I got a brilliant fish dish, as fine as anything I've had in Bernardin. The waiters are lovely, but need a bit more training. However, they are knowledgeable and eager to please. A fine evening!

The whole Christmas dinner experience couldn't have been improved upon. We were so pleased with the whole experience. Table for 3 by the pool and lovely courtyard, the unusual wines which were so perfectly paired with the food and the beautiful, delicious food which was prepared without cream and very little butter. The proprieter was extremely knowledgeable about the wines and food. We thought we were back in Paris! Sigh...

We arrived and were seated outside on the patio as there was a large party indoors. We were the only ones there for a 7pm reservation but online when I tried to book an 8pm, it said not available....there were plenty of open tables at that time. We sat near the road so you could hear the cars driving by but the trees around the patio covered the view which was nice. We had warm and cold fois gras, I recommend the cold, it was much better. My husband and I shared our dishes, he had the lamb, which could have been flavored a bit better but was extremely tender at medium rare. I had the duck med rare which was fantastic. Dessert was good but macaron was too hard due to faulty refrigeration. The waiter still charged us for it. I would recommend

The snobbishness of the owners / waiters wasn't matched by the sophistication of the dishes. I suspect wine by the glass was bought at the nearby Walgreen's despite apparent French labels.

I have been privileged to have eaten at many of the great restaurants around the world, so I tend to set a fairly hight bar in judging high expectation places. My expectations were well met. Each course was beautifully conceived and executed. You know it is good when you can'y wait to offer a taste to your companion. It was like a Chinese ping pond game: try this, try that, try this...throughout the night. We were given a lovely table on the terrace overlooking the romantically lit pool. Patrick, the maitre 'd, sommelier, manager and major doom, took special pains to be sure we were totally satisfied.,,and we were. I promised I would write a review, and, it is my pleasure to keep my word.

The attention to detail from the start was special. Soon after we were seated our friendly waiter, Didier brought a treat from the chef, a single bite-sized hors d'oeuvre of avocado flavored somehow with lemon and basil. Every bite thereafter was delicious. Try the vegetable tart, I can't describe how delicious it is!

There's a lot to like and a little to be disappointed in regarding this restaurant. Charming boutique hotel with great story and history. The restaurant itself is a romantic , quaint place where you feel more like you were invited by a friend than a customer. Service is old school, professional and sincere (a rarity in SoBe). The food itself is where the restaurant disappoints a bit. The descriptions of the dishes and the pricing lead you to anticipate a truly special experience. Instead, the food doesn't deliver on its promise and is just "good", "decent".

From the bread and French butter to the Foie Gras Bonbons (with a bit of delicious salad) to the Duck breast/confit with wild mushrooms and the Sea Bass...lick the plate clean-worthy. So very French and all of the flavors were well-designed. We were too full for dessert but there were complimentary sweets we were unable to resist. Outstanding!!!!

A lovely little jewel box of a restaurant; like stepping into a piece of Paris. The lighting while lovely, was too bright for such an intimate room and though the service was quite good, the food enjoyable and well-presented, it was hard not to feel somewhat robbed at $40 ish an entree after $30 to valet park. Dinner for 2 with a drink, moderately priced wine and no desert was near $250, which seems very pre-2005 to many of us not arriving in a Bentley.

Sometimes you read reviews on Open Table or Trip Advisor and you find yourself wondering if they are really true. The reviews for this restaurant are spot on. Food is impeccably prepared with fresh ingredients often obtained on a seasonal basis only (eg wild mushrooms from Oregon only available for a couple of months per year). Service is so personal it feels like you are eating at a friend's home rather than at a restaurant. Diners are usually repeat customers since no advertising is done by the restaurant. The restaurant is not inexpensive but "you get what you pay for" certainly applies here. Make a night of it and you will have no regrets!

I went to Open Table to find something a little different, there were so many to choose from. i liked the description and we gave it a shot. We asked for a glass of Champagne prior to the menu reading and we were told that they were out of that one but they had another champagne that was good and they would bring a sampling for us to try. After 20 minutes we realize we were obviously forgotten so we asked another waiter for a cocktail...no word was ever said about the champagne. The cocktail was a ruby red infused vodka...very nice. When it was empty, we were never asked if we wanted another one. We then asked for a wine menu, 10 minutes later we had to ask again. No complaints about the food, it was tasty and fresh and presented well. The bill was very pricey, we never mind spending good money when the service and food are work it. Don't think we'll return.

We dinned on a Thursday night, while the restaurant is very small and intimate, there were only three tables. The owner/maître de was supported by one young gentleman. The maître de was knowledgeable and intense. He clearly demands a high degree of performance on the part of his staff. I asked the maître de for a wine recommendation. He asked, and I indicated a price range. His recommendation was at the high-end of the range; it was a nice choice. As to the food, my wife enjoyed the crab soup as an appetizer. I had the vegetable tart with pea sorbet. The tart was very good, the pea sorbet unbelievable. We thought we would split an entre, but we were rebuffed by the maître de. Both the Sea Bass and Halibut dishes were excellent.

Exquisite dining experience in a romantic quaint setting. Our party of four was pampered, guided and expertly served with a “contemporary” Paris cuisine that will be remembered for years to come. Patrick Gruest was refreshingly creative with his wine pairings from Foie Gras (pan seared and cold) to chocolate desert (2002 Helyos Banyuls). Every dish of our 6 course tasting was complicated and simple at the same time, and expertly divided between dishes. I will never return to South Miami Beach without a meal here. Kudos Patrick, and thank you!

Nestled in the back of the Cadet Hotel in South Beach, this fine dining French restaurant feels like you are dining in the host's private dining room. Elegant surroundings and impeccable food, prepared by hand. Great wine list with some unusual value picks such as an 09 Rosso di Montalcino. Diverse classic menu selections. Rack of lamb was perfectly cooked and displayed. Dining also is available in the courtyard of the hotel. With few top-notch French restaurants in Miami Beach, this easily qualifies as the neighborhood gem that it is. Reservations essential during high season.

This place is not on any map, tucked away in a small hotel. Best French cuisine in South Florida. They cook the way the French cook today - light, fresh ingredients. Great sauces without a bunch of cream and butter like French food from two decades ago. The wine list is small but full of amazing choices. Don't look for the well known vineyards. They aren't there. Only hand picked choices by the Sommelier, Patrick Gruest. We had their tasting menu paired with wines chosen and served by Patrick. Excellent food made even better by Patrick's wine choices. The service was very tight, well timed and professional. Not chatty and sloppy like many of the Miami restaurants.

There are only 10 tables, but if you are lucky enough to be seated at one if them, you will definitely have a great experience. The food is excellent, the staff is very welcoming and the manager Patrique is just the perfect person to make your French dining experience a memorable & authentic one. My wife and I shared two meals. Lamb Chops and Lobster & Mushroom Risotto. Both excellent, but truthfully every entree on their menu sounded wonderful. We will definitely be back. We tried out the tasting meny with winemeny. Quiet place with some excellent dishes, but variable. Fois gras and seabass - splendid. Duck - very little and not possible to notice that it was duck we ate, twice as much mushrooms as duck. The cheeses were a tasting disaster. We love cheese and have tried a lot of french cheeses before, these were in general not tasting good. Served witout anything sweet, like jam/marmelade at all. Keep away from the Crème brûlée. Worst we ever tasted. Soaked with spirit/vodka and without any taste close to Crème brûlée. The chocolate fondant was perfect. We got little, but good to great wines. Never offered to have any more wine in the glass for free or to pay for.

Way overpriced. Recommend the seabass, cold foie terrine, and crab soup. Duck was ok. The rack of lamb cooked sous vide is gimmicky and a failure. Prices are 5 star, but while service started great it fell off quickly once other tops arrived stretching the 3 person staff thin. At this price point I should not be pouring every glass of wine for the table. There was also some lounge singer lady that kept coming into the dining room and had people sing along like some cheap karaoke bar. It was bizarre and uncomfortable to say the least.

Great find and I will definitely be back soon with a group or my girlfriend.
