Sotto Sopra is our favorite restaurant in Baltimore!! Everything is excellent - the ambiance, service and food . . and they make you feel like family. It also is a big plus that they have valet parking. We will continue to go there!!

The first course was great (beef carpaccio); the dessert was very good also (their own ice cream. The main entree (veal saltimbocca) should have been outstanding, and the basic flavor was delicious except that the veal was somewhat tough and chewy. It does seem to be difficult these days to get quality veal.

Everything was good until I asked for a box for my leftovers and they refused to give me one. Instead they wanted to charge $4 to box up my food. I felt it was a waste of money to pay for the box and a waste of food if it could not be taken home.

The restaurant provided good service on a busy Saturday evening. The noise level, however, prevented any good conversation. I wouldn't call the level "energetic." It was just too loud! The beer selection was good, but the veal dish I had was dry and not very flavorful. The waiter (Isaac) was personable and added a lot to the restaurant experience.

I came to Sotto Sopra for Restaurant Week. I thought the menu choices for this event were very good. We loved our selections. I ordered the seafood risotto (risotta of the day), my husband ordered gnocchi-like dumplings in a wild mushroom sauce. We loved both and ended up switching half way through.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2007
    Dined on 6/7/2008
We've been to Sotta Sopra several times before and the service was always excellent. This time, however, the service was poor. We waited more than 5 minutes for someone to even take our drink orders. Their signature bread sticks didn't appear on the table until long after we had our drinks, and then we had to ask to get olive oil which hadn't been served. One of the water servers was reaching across people during our conversations to fill glasses, when he could have easily moved to the other end of the table. Overall poor service from the time we drove up and there was only one valet to park the cars and we had to sit in the car for nearly 10 minutes before he got to us. If this were our first visit we wouldn't return.

Great service and a really wonderful meal. The prices were quite reasonable for higher-end fare. Although it was not quiet, it was not disturbingly loud, either. The tables were far enough apart that we enjoyed a romantic dinner and enjoyed our food, which arrived right on time. Nice wine list. The one grilled romaine salad mentioned a cheese we didn't recognize. The waiter described it, and then suggested that he should ask the chef to make sure he was doing it justice. He came back with an enhanced version of the description - and the salad was wonderful. Entrees were creative but not odd, sizable for the price, without being ridiculous, and the menu and specials were all appealing. Even the $5.00 valet parking was quick and courteous.

I think the restaurant is under listed in the Open Tables price category with appetizers averaging $16 and entrees over $30, I spend $210 for three people, not a mid-range restaurant. It is very popular which I don't quite understand as the food is pretty but tasteless. That said I have been there 5 times because my friend likes it. Veal in pasta was doughy, sea bream had no flavor at all, the fondant chocolate cake was dry and barely molten. Service is first rate but I wish the plate served was.
