A word from Brix Restaurant & Wine Bar
Brix Restaurant and Wine Bar was one of the first restaurants in the development of Vancouver’s historic Yaletown quarter as a destination for casual fine dining.

Opening in April 1999 in a turn-of-the-century heritage building on Homer Street it quickly became known for its innovative food, an extensive, well priced wine list, and its warm and inviting atmosphere amid the high-beamed ceilings and original exposed-brick walls.

A unique glass covered key hole courtyard is one of the city's top restaurant patios and is the only Yaletown outdoor dining space opened past 11pm.

An elegant dinner features a wide range of seafood, game, meat and poultry dishes and close proximity to the theatre district makes the light early dining menu a perfect pairing. Brix is also a favourite for the late-night crowd, too, offering great late-night dining into the wee hours.

Vancouver's top cocktail lounge, George, is only a flight of stairs away down on Hamilton Street.

  • We visited Brix for the first
    OpenTable Diner Since 2008
    Dined on 8/22/2008
We visited Brix for the first time on Friday and couldn't fault the food, service, ambiance or restaurant as a whole really. You can chose main courses or small plates, we ordered 4 small plates, all of which were amazingly well presented and tasted wonderful, we shared a desert which was also outstanding and almost looked to good to eat! The service was professional, friendly and helpful - just right. My boyfriend's a pretty good chef so he's always really critical of anywhere we dine but even he couldn't fault a thing. We dined as a couple but fours and large groups we're catered for well too it seems. It's not a cheap venue but it's worth every penny, we'll certainly be back and will be recommending this place onwards.

  • I was somewhat disappointed
    OpenTable Diner Since 2012
    Dined on 8/22/2008
I was somewhat disappointed with my experience at Brix this time compared to my last time there a few years ago. The "small dishes" were most definitely "small" and not nearly as memorable as the last time. Most definitely has become a hip spot for the younger in-crowd who are there to drink and be seen. At least the night I was there. Too bad. I am not sure I would go back.

  • I had looked forward to celebrating
    OpenTable Diner Since 2007
    Dined on 7/29/2008
I had looked forward to celebrating a milestone birthday by going to Brix for the first time and sitting in the courtyard I had seen so many times from the street: it did not disappoint; well at least the restaurant didn't: mother nature was blowing a cool breeze down the long passage leading to the pseudo-outdoor courtyard that made us move inside. Once inside, I was not disappointed at all: the music selection was fantastic: ambient, downtempo and even some Beck—however you classify that— making for a classy but not stuffy feel. The decor was Yaletown chic with a twist. The food was pretty good and the chairs were very comfortable. Overall, it deserves another look someday.

Overall it was a great experience I would definitely recommend. Very good for couples dining.

  • The ambiance on the patio
    OpenTable Diner Since 2008
    Dined on 7/11/2008
The ambiance on the patio was great and perfect for a catch-up dinner w friends. However, the bottle of white wine we ordered was served warm, not chilled and the meal we ordered (risotto) was underdone. Having said that, the restaurant was really good about not charging for the entrees after we complained.

Special thank you for honouring our reservation. Concert went 1 hour late and we were prepared to kiss the table good-bye, but on arrival it was waiting for us. Food was good, plenty of variety for a late-night bite. Service was professional and pleasant. Small note: I wish I enjoyed the ahi salad visavis the canneloni pasta. It looked amazing! (My dish was somewhat mushy but tasty. Not a complaint, more an observation.) Will definitely return but for a real dinner as the ambiance and location make is a find, indeed. Cheers.

I have never been disappointed at Brix and this last visit was no exception - still a rare find in my opinion. I've been hoping that the Blue Mountain Cabernet Franc on the wine list will eventually be replaced by other Blue Mountain wines such as their Pinot Noir but this is purely personal preference. I've always been satisfied with the selections.

Had eaten there once before and loved it. This time was less than memorable. Food was so-so and dessert was 'trio of sorbets' but was doubled up on one type. Overall not great. Was a birthday dinner and was quite disappointing. Pork loin was tough. Tuna three ways was bland. Appys were good and wine choices were good. Server was pleasant enough but didn't know what to do when i complained about dessert. Hostess at the front was very good and extremely service oriented. She took the edge off an otherwise unmemorable evening.

Unfortunately we had to wait for nearly 30 minutes past our reservation time to sit at our table. We received our first glass of wine at the same time as our dinner (dinner was very quick), which we did not appreciate. I would have liked some time to enjoy the wine flights we had ordered before the food. It took away form the relaxation of the dinner. There were quite a few large groups in the restaurant, and near the end one table had people moving all over the restaurnat, dancing and literally yelling at some points. This continued until the group left, which was also when we left. This was our second visit to Brix, we had gone back because we enjoyed the first time so much. Not sure if I would go back. We've been to Brix many times, and the food and outstanding service is what has kept us coming back. There are many restaurants in Vancouver at the same price point, that offer equivalent quality of food, but the service at Brix has simply made it an amazing dining experience. We sat for a number of minutes before our server showed up - that was after we asked a busser to send someone over. While our server was good, she had the challenge of serving a huge party as well as us. The noice in the restaurant was painful. If we knew about the large party, we wouldn't have come. It was meant to be a special occasion, we invited friends to experience Brix for the first time. What happened to the stickey toffee pudding, not as good as before

my fourth time dining at Brix - good food - however if this was a fund raiser for Dine Out for Life, I would have expected the "host" to visit and greet every table, not just some of them, and that was disappointing. also my server was fine - but leaving a piece of cork in someone's wine glass without bringing a new glass when she was fully aware of this fact is a large faux pas and hugely disappointing. finally the restaurant was too way too warm that evening

We came for a special occasion, our son's convocation. We really enjoyed the dining experience as it was our first time there. We were referred by a friend. The service was excellent and that really made it great for us. Things like refilling the water glasses (we don't drink alcohol), the "water girl" was really on top of it! The menu was fantastic as well. We all had different dishes and there was lots of food, (my husbands main concern is that there isn't enough at these nice restaurants). Thanks for the great meal! Kathy
