A word from Tashan
A traditional Indian greeting awaits you at your table: "Namaste" which "welcomes the divine within you."

Tashan takes its inspiration from an age old approach to fine dining. Traditional Indian royalty would graze their way through a succession of grilled delicacies from the Tawa, Sigri, Tandoor and then finish with a single dish of a special curry or grand biryani.

We invite you to immerse yourself in 'Our India' exotically fused with a unique modern ethnic edge. The communal dining service lets you share our small and intricate entrees.

All our dishes are cooked to order and will come to your table the moment they are ready, so expect a gentle flow of dishes and let us help you through this journey of a memorable meal.

If you cannot find the reservation time you are looking for, please call us to inquire about seating at our beautiful lounge area, or outdoor cafe.

Tashan was one of many places we dined at for a three day weekend celebration for our daughter's graduation for Penn. The food was excellent and the decor was great. We especially loved the open kitchen. The servers were very nice, but they all seemed a bit overwhelmed with the crowd. Growing pains, we assume. Would definitely recommend.

My husband and I eat out several times a week and this restaurant is by far our favorite. The food is outstanding, each dish carefully composed and delicious. The variety of surprises and unique combinations made us want to go back. We had the tasting menu that allowed us to try small samples of many things. We found ourselves wanting to lick the plates. On top of the great food, the service was excellent. Servers were attentive and explained all the dishes. Definitely going back!!

We invited 4 of our friends out for a birthday dinner and all ordered the chef's tasting for $35 for 3 courses. Everyone loved the food and said it was well worth the price. My husband and I come here at least once a month for a date night out and they never fail to impress us and have us leave with a very satisfied appetite.

The food is fantastic. Tashan is probably the best indian restaraunt in Philadelphia. However, the service needs to be improved. 1st, the waiter did not offer a taste of our bottle of wine, instead pouring glasses for everyone at the table. I have never had this happen at a compariable restaurant. 2nd, the staff kept bringing dishes to our table that we clearly did not order. They also mistakenly brought out a 2nd dish of something we already received. In the end, none of these incidents diminished the quality of food or ambiance at Tashan. The food was amazing, and the decor of the restaurant is very upscale. I would certainly come back (the food really is top notch), but I hope they improve the service.

Tashan is becoming one of my favorite restaurants in Philadelphia. I have been there several times now and have left incredible satisfied every time. An important point to make is that they offer some of the traditional Indian dishes but most of their dishes are more Indian fusion than anything else. If you love Indian food flavoring and are open to see the chef's own take on some popular dishes, Tashan will not disappoint. Incredible dishes, great ambiance and excellent service. I can't wait to go back!

While some items are overpriced for what you get, the non-overly spicey sauces on the non-traditional fusion Indian tapas sized dishes are tasty. Service was excellent with one mistake. Ambiance is both formal and romantic. The open style kitchen is an added plus. We would recommend it to any adult single, couple or group.

We had a lovely table, and thoroughly enjoyed our food. The variety and selection, especially for vegetarians, was wonderful, and the tastes were all different so everyone enjoyed it. Especially the spinach chat, the eggplant, the paneer lollipops and the breads - they were some of the best we had all eaten. A great find and I would recommend to anyone!

I have been to Tashan four times now and each time has been newly delicious. This is Indian food with very distinctive flavors: mild, delicate, spicy, you name it, but each dish a distinctive blending of flavors. I love their small plate approach which allows us to sample so many different dishes. We've tried their wine-tastings twice now and appreciate how well chosen the wines are for the food. The staff is so knowledgable and their recommendations are right-on.

After reading rave reviews of this place, we were quite disappointed when we finally got around to going there. The food was underseasoned and had a very restricted range of flavors, even though we ordered dishes from across the menu sections. We have had far better Indian food in suburban strip malls. The noise level was oppressive, although it might be less so on a weeknight. Service was generally good; one of the dishes we ordered got lost somehow, but we had ordered too much anyway, so we were not upset about that. Pricing seemed exorbitant for the value received, particularly the wine pricing: it was difficult to find a bottle for less than $60, and most were around $100.

Excellent service from Brendan, our attentive and knowledgeable server. Food was well-presented and included some interesting and delicious combinations. I'm not a big fan of Indian food, but this was very different. I would definitely return. A bit loud, but the place was full. Found a free!!! parking spot right around the corner. Check out the bathroom - seriously - it's unique. I would have enjoyed an alcove table, but we reserved too late. We met the manager, who was also very friendly and made us feel welcome. Nice experience.

We had an excellent experience at Tashan this past Friday! Tim was our waiter, and he went out of his way to make us happy and serve us the best dishes for our own personal tastes. We also opted into the $45/per person wine pairing, which got us five different glasses of excellent wine, which Tim paired perfectly with each course. Some of the most memorable dishes were the samosa, the kobe beef, and the naan filled with cheese...we received so many of the dishes by opting into the tasting menu, we are certain that we definitely got the very most out of the entire menu. Tim chose dishes for us better than we probably would have been able to with the extensive menu! We will DEFINITELY be visiting Tashan agin.

This was the first time back since Sylva Senat left. Big disappointment. The food had no verve or real pizzaz. It was also pretty quiet for a Friday night. We won't be back unfortunately.

I love everything about Tashan. I took my boyfriend there for his birthday and everything was great. I brought my own cake and they welcomed it with open arms, most restaurants don't. There service was impeccable. I had a great waitress who recommended all the right things. I had an issue with one of choices, I'm a vegetarian they have some great veggie choices. One veggie meal came out and had meat in it. The manager came out and offered to comp my whole meal, the service was so great I declined. He then sent two glasses of champagne to my table. Other than that minor set back, everything was wonderful!

Restaurant is big, decor was hip, high ceilings, love the open kitchen, nice bar area. Our server Jason, very knowledgeable w/ cuisine/menu. Went with chef's dinner n wine pairing. We told Jason things we liked/disliked and they created chef's tasting based on that. Variety was excellent n abundant, great way to try Indian, good wine choices. Bill was $250 p/couple with tip, well worth it for all that we got and the service. Also valet for $10 is great.

I went to Tashan on a Saturday night with a group of 8 friends. Not only was the restaurant extremely flexible in accommodating our big group, but our server Sean also expedited our food to make sure we had plenty of time to make our 8 pm show. We ordered 14 dishes (2 orders of 7 small plates) and three different types of naan. It was a perfect amount of food and each dish was delicious. From the vegetable korma to kobe kebob to green chicken tikka. Dishes were spiced perfectly and extremely flavorful! I lok forward to going to Tashan again soon!

Blandest Indian food I've ever had. Great decor and service, but to call the food lackluster would be to exaggerate its flavor. My girlfriend and I went here for our 4 year anniversary. We went early in order to make a show at 7:30 in center city. Though the restaurant was deserted when we began, it slowly filled up, as did our stomachs. We ordered 6 small plates, 2 from each category. This was more than enough food for the three of us when combined with the delicious naan selections. We enjoyed tasty, well-mixed cocktails and were unable to order dessert because the plates were so filling. Great time, great food. The kitchen is a spectacle, the bathroom is a sight as well.

Indian food fit for foodies. All small plates and meant to share, but we wanted our own orders. THey bring things out as they are cooked, so it was not balanced well in terms of some people waiting for their food while others had two items sitting in front of them. The tasting menu is probably best here with everyone trying each item as it is brought out. Very interesting flavors and high quality food and preparation.

Everything is small plates, which is different from a typical Indian restaurant and plates were brought out only one at a time which is not something that I was expecting, but I enjoyed it! The Ghobi Manchurian was very tasty but quite spicy. If you want to have Indian food with a twist, this is definitely the place to try! Overall, a very good experience.

This is my favorite Indian restaurant bar-none. The service is always impeccable and the wait staff are so friendly and knowledgeable. It's one of my go-tos to celebrate special occasions. I loved the Lauren Bay Calamari (and I'm not even a big calamari fan) and the Bharwan Baingan was a fresh and delicious take on the traditional eggplant dishes -- my favorite of the night. I just love the flavor and spice combinations in their dishes. My only wish is that they'd offer at least one more bona-fide gluten free dessert option. Sorbet just doesn't cut it in my book.
