This is my parents' favorite restaurant for family events. We all love the food, although we learned again yesterday that we have to remember that the kitchen tends to undercook the steaks (e.g., "medium" comes out "rare"). I also find that the pacing of the meals is fairly slow. Yesterday there was a long wait for the entrees after the appetizers. (On a previous occasion, it was the desserts that took a very long time.) The service is generally great, and everyone is very pleasant, especially the hosts and owners, although there are moments when it's hard to get the waiter's attention, which is what kept my rating above from being "outstanding."

Excellent food, with a different touch. Not like your standard steakhouse. Great service - overall wonderful experience, right in Astoria. Probably the best place to eat a great dinner outside of Manhattan.

  • This is my third visit to
    OpenTable Diner Since 2007

This is my third visit to Cristos steak house and they have all been superb. I took my wife there Sunday night for her birthday and we both agreed that this meal rates as posibly the best meal we have ever had. The salads, appetizers, and side dishes were unbeleivable and the steak was one of the best pieces of filet mignon that I had ever tasted. I cannot wait to return... As for price, the tow of us had salads, appetizers and filet mignon and the bill with tax and tip was $130 (a bargain in my opinion)

  • Our first time at Cristos
    OpenTable Diner Since 2008
    Dined on 5/11/2008
Our first time at Cristos and we had a great evening! There are many reasons why I'll be returning here instead of Luger's, etc. The steaks were as good as any I've ever had and the Greek dishes on the menu really change things up and put Cristos above the average steakhouse. I loved it.

Appetizers (octopus and horiatiki salad were nicely presented and tasty.) Olive spread that was given with bread was excellent. We basically all ate steak, except for my daughter who ate lambchops. My husband & I got the porterhouse. All was tasty, and cooked just right. As far as side orders, the potatoes au gratin were too small, but delicious, the penne vodka, creamed spinach & broccoli were O.k. The kids ordered a chocolate cake that oozed out chocolate, with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. I took a spoonful. It was great. Overall, good experience, great service, good food, though I found it to be as expensive as Peter Luger's and not as good. We would go again for a special occasion. Pretty place with nice atmosphere.

  • As good a steak as I've had
    OpenTable Diner Since 2006

As good a steak as I've had at any of the top Steak Houses! Our waiter seemed to have a bit of a language barrier and was a little abrupt. Side dishes could have been better---soggy fries. The rest of the staff is extremely accomodating, friendly and welcoming. All in all---a lovely dining experience and a great place to meet for people living on either side of the bridges!

    OpenTable Diner Since 2006

I would not make a second trip to Christos. It has a long way to go to meet the standards of Morton's Steak House, a favortie of mine. It was difficult to understand the waiter. Three of us ordered the same entree----one of the steaks was very undersized. The Broccoli Rabe was salty and the French Fries were greasy. The music was a bit too loud for me, however, we might have been under a speaker. The staff was friendly.
