Atmosphere was very good. We split a lobster rangoon appetizer which was very good. I had the baby spinach salad and NY strip and everything was excellent. My wife had the heirloom tomato salad and 8 oz sirloin. The salad was good but the steak was tough. The steak came as a big round piece and almost looked like a filet. Owner came by and when we told him about the tough steak he said he would take it off the bill. That never happened. Overall mixed feelings.

We had a delightful experience with the sophistication and menu choices of big city steak houses but the intimacy of our Southern Pines. Our waiter was friendly, helpful and accomodating. When we walked in, we felt the hostess could have been more welcoming. A smile to greet, a thank you for choosing to share our dining experience with Southern Prime, etc. She was efficient, but almost too business-like. Since the hostess makes the first impression, and "you never get another chance to make a first impression" that could have been a bit more positive. But it did not dim our impression or our experience.

Outstanding steaks. Building very well done. A bit bright for a 9p dinner. Seemed like someone just turned on the lights after a movie, but beauty of physical structure more than made up for it. Great addition to the Pinehurst fine Dining scene. Afterall, how many times can you go to Elliots? May still want to hit some of the other spots for variety, but for steaks in Pinehurst, this has now become "The Place."

The setting is beautiful. the food was well prepared. The wine list was disappointing. Putting both prime beef and choice on the menue will lead to customers comp;aining that they ordered prime and received choice. If your name is Southern Prime keep it prime. desert menue was lacking. Did not measure up to the rest of the meal. More variety needed on the wine list, eg. French, Italian, Argentina, etc. Mark up and corkage fee seemed high for the area.

We enjoyed the Southern Prime Steakhouse very much. We will definitely go back. As a brand new restaurant, we believe it will only get better. The atmosphere is great, all the servers were very friendly. Loved all the wine racks! Service was excellent. very good menu selections. We ordered the steaks and they were absolutely mouth watering delicious. Combined with a nice bottle of red wine (good selections-we had a Meritage) it was a great evening.

Arrived with skepticism due to it taking years for something to open in this spot. They have done an excellent job with the decor and layout. We were greeted and shown to a great table immediately. Our server, Erin, then greeted us within a minute. Now I understand that this is something that should be expected; however, if you live in this area, you will know that service is sorely lacking. The staff and management at most places do not know, understand, or even attempt the basics of proper service. Ok, enough, back to this wonderful restaurant. Erin was attentive without being intrusive throughout our dining experience. The food was what you would expect from an upscale steakhouse. We started with Lobster Rangoon. While tasty, they were

New Restaurant open only a couple of weeks. Dining experience far exceeded expectations. Confortable main dining room, however the evening we were there a lighting failure made menu reading difficult but did not distract from the overall experience. Difinitely a great addition to the Sothern Pines/Pinehurst,NC restaurant lineup.

The restaurant is quite attractive and upscale. The wine list is extensive and the menu had good variety, beyond the signature steaks. The appetizers were quite varied and sharing was encouraged. We had the Lobster Rangoon, which was excellent. The entrees came with a starch and vegetable of the day. My wife had the Filet Mignon, and I ordered the Cowboy Ribeye. Both were wonderfully flavorful and perfectly prepared. I finished my meal with the Peach Cobbler, that was warm and served with a small scoop of rich vanilla ice cream. Delicious! Our service throughout the meal was pleasant, efficient and unobtrusive. Our bill was $104, before the tip, which also included several glasses of wine. We left happy with plans to return soon!!!

a work in progress. not yet there but very promising. service was surprisingly good.New york strip had a little too much seasoning but still quite good.Solid wine list at moderate prices. Spirits pricing seemed high for the area. A very nice atmosphere which may require a modest dess code . shorts, tee shirts and flip flops kind of defeat the atmosphere.

I went with a party of six. While my order of the 6 oz. filet mignon seemed smaller and was cooked to medium vs my requested medium rare, others in my party ordered the larger sirloin steaks and their steaks were juicy and actually prepared to medium rare. One in our party ordered a pasta dish and was happy with it. The fact that with all the steak orders you can choose a starch and vegetable included with your order is a plus. Presentation was pretty basic. Our server was good and we all agreed the interior design was nice and made the setting a good location for a special occasion dinner.
