The Farm and Fisherman is a 30-seat white tablecloth BYOB featuring regional produce, meat and fish prepared by owner and Executive Chef Joshua Lawler, a former chef de cuisine at the quintessential farm-to-table restaurant Blue Hill at Stone Barns. This place specializes in fresh food well prepared, and it justified its reputation. Everything I had was tasty and enjoyable, and the service was friendly and welcoming. It is a bit noisy, but what BYOB isn't these days? For one thing they have to deal with us, who apparently think talking in a voice appropriate to be heard across the street is the way you should talk at a small table. :) This is set up to convince you to order 4 courses (3 regular, dessert) and if done, it will be a fair bit pricier than other BYOBs (and even, to a lesser extent, if not). That said, I had a great time, would be happy to go back.

This was our second visit and we continue to be impressed by every aspect of this operation. Despite fact that it was a Saturday night, there was no rush and service was as professional as one could wish. Only complaint is the noise level, which is made even worse by their insistence on playing a loud music track. Skip the music and install some more sound absorbing materials.

Good little BYO with some very tasty dishes. As the name suggests most of the dishes were fish related. Really dug the pork loin, and the haramura.

  • Fantastic Experience; Pricey

It was an excellent experience. The cons meshed so well with the pros that it's hard to explain how much fun it was. It's a small venue so you are seated at a table very close to the other patrons, which could have been awkward. But in the end it was super helpful because the people next to us had terrific suggestions about which dishes they enjoyed. The food was superb and the service was cheery. It's BYOB - remember that. The only cons I walked away with were - it was very loud when it got crowded, and I was extremely hot in there (but that might have been because it was a really hot day.) I do think it's a date place, although I went with my sister and we had a lot of fun. It is pricey but worth it- so remember that.

overall the concept is great farm to table but the execution was lacking. i think the high-end preparation takes away from the freshness of the food. simpler would be better. the service was pleasant but not perfectly attentive, after the first pour of wine the server never re-filled our glasses. tables are too close together.

We had a great dinner at Farm and the Fisherman. We were greeted by one of the owners and she sat us right to our table. It is a BYOB, but they had a wonderful list of non alcoholic drinks to chose from and my husband particularly liked the fresh-brewed mint-chocolate iced tea. There was a three course menu (which changes daily) which had some very delicious choices. We were served hot rolls with homemade butter before our first course, and they were incredible! I had the beet steak as a first course which was absolutely amazing! I would strongly recommend that if is on the menu again. My husband had the soft shell crabs for his second course, and loved them. We will definitely go back there again and recommend it to friends & family.

Had been disappointed that the previous restaurant in the space was only there a year or so but was delighted to see another in its place. Was pleasantly surprised when we dined at The Farm and Fisherman and the food was charming and delightful with the service to match. Have recommended it to many and none have been disappointed.

Amazing dinner experience. The husband and wife team have created a nice unique dining experience for foodies. We travel all over to eat at restaurants and this was a great dinner. Loved the three course style of menu. Also service was gracious and personable. The atmosphere isn't the reasong to eat here - but who cares! It feels like you are in their home eating. I definitely recommend this gem.

Farm and the Fisherman was friendly, attentive, and the food was truly excellent. My partner and I had the asparagus salad and the soft shell crabs as and appetizer. Both were excellent and the softshell crabs were the best I ever had with an escarole sauce. Dinner was an excellent steak that I tasted and I had the scallops, which were was one of the best scallop dishes I've had -- small, perfectly broiled and flavored. The noise level is high with people's conversation, and the small place is very crowded, so it's not a romantic place or a place to have a quiet conversation. BYOB is great but it took them a long time to bring our chilled bottle of white wine back when we arrived - not sure what that was about. Overall, I recommend

Menu is small but changes frequently, and every dish was extremely well prepared. Excellent wine glasses, so it is a good idea to bring a wine up to the standards of the cooking. Also, they are meticulous about honoring reservations - they would rather leave tables open for awhile rather than have someone wait. Service is good, and the room is very attractive with large, reasonably well spaced tables. It really raises the bar for center city BYO restaurants.

Warm welcome from the staff. Very small space, somewhat crowded, but tasteful colors and textures. The excellent food is a delight to taste and experience. All portions are small, well-presented on the plate. We found it strange that four of the dishes were accompanied by what appeared to be the same green sauce which, however, had a wonderful flavor. Two-top tables are crowded very close together on the east wall. Overall, this is a great find and I eagerly anticipate another visit.
