I have been to many restaurants in every price range, and this was as delightful a dining experience as any I have had. The food was great and our waiter Michael couldn't have been better at guiding us through the menu and wine list. I can't wait to go back.

Fortunately I went with a group, so got to sample three appetizers when I went -- which only leaves the rest of the tempting list to explore when I get back. We were particularly smitten with the burrata, but loved the others too. Good pasta, great veal chop, and pleasant service. I didn't care for the bread, but other than that loved every bite.

I was impressed with how Fabio has converted this French location into an open, cheerful, modern rustic, vibrant place for DC foodies. Dining at Fiola is a gastronomic experience that brings one to Le Marche in its rawness. The decor along with the down to earth yet elegant culinary creations, with freshness and bold taste, make every meal diary worthy. The reduction or simply sauce for each dish is unique and tasteful that brings out the sweetness of the super sweet cherry tomatoes, or the biting texture of the slightly curvy spaghettini. I simply enjoy the friendly service and homey feeling that Fabio is sharing with us.

Exceptional dining experience. We had the artichoke salad, squash blossom fritters, lamb chop and Dover sole. And ricotta donuts and lemon gelato for dessert. Those donuts are to die for! Also, ask to be seated in Arturo's section. Excellent waiter - maybe our best ever.

Fiola did not disappoint. I never had an opportunity to experience Fabio's food at Maestro, but he is a true Maestro. D.C. is lucky to have him back; all of his food has a wonderful blend of flavors. I have never eaten a better ravioli than at Fiola. I am looking forward to my next visit.

Many delicious choices and the presentations have a flair. Little touches, like grey salt on the table, show a detail- oriented and astute chef. A wide range of prices for the wines is much appreciated. Excellent squash blossoms and cheese fritters, veal chop, lobster ravoli. Can't wait to return.

The service was first rate and the food exceptional. Chef Trabocchi's tempura style Squash blossoms served with a red sauce on the side were great. I had the loster raviloi and my guest had the fish of the day (red snapper) and both were excellent. The bread - unbelievable! You must save room for the house made donut's served with a vanilla sauce and housemade jam on the side. I will use this as one of my regular lunch places in the Penn Quarter.

It was my husbands birthday and we were excited to try a new place. We sat outside. After waiting over an hour, we still didn't have our salads so we complained (again) and left, never planning on returning! The drinks took 30 min. to get also. The noise inside was unbearable and that is why we chose to go outside. It ruined the occasion. We were suppose to go back next week, but I will be canceling for sure.

I already knew we were going to have a great meal when we sat down and were given a warm, buttery housemade focaccia roll with a side of seasoned salt and fresh virgin olive oil. We then enjoyed a double order of the mozzarella and squash blossom fritters which were tempura light and flawless in texture. Entree options were impressive with all kinds of meat, fish and fowl options. I chose one of the fresh pastas and was not disappointed. For dessert, the fennel sorbet over the olive oil cake is refreshing and fun but opt for the Nutella sorbet instead, I ended up eating most of my dining companion's dessert!

This was a first-rate experience. The service was perfect and food came out at the proper pace. The sommelier suggested an Umbrian wine that was excellent and comparatively inexpensive. The food was excellent. It can be a little noisy, but it was not to the point of not being able to hear or comfortably conduct a conversation. For those who know and like Fabio Trabocchi, formerly of Maestro fame before heading to NYC, his characteristic high quality is on full display. Whereas at Maestro the production was high art with complex and inventive cuisine and an extensive high-end wine list, here it is at a lesser degree of complexity and lower, more sustainable price point, but highly satisfying nonetheless. A great experience.

Fabio Trabocchi and his excellent staff have hit their stride! Our recent lunch of baby artichoke salads, lobster ravioli and broiled swordfish were excellent. The desserts (especially the Panna Cotta) were a perfect, and not too heavy, compliment. All the right touches are in place. Fiola is definitely on my "must try" list for DC restaurant recommendations.

Fiola is a wonderful restaurant. The dishes are artistic, creative and delicious, careful attention is given to the presentation of the food, and the ambience is unique. This is the second time I've been to Fiola and the food was equally impressive both times. Fiola has the potential to be a 4-star restaurant. However, there needs to be improvement regarding the service staff. The server for my first meal was superb. But, the server at my second meal was grossly inadequately trained. There needs to be a higher quality of consistency and expectations among the servers. That being said, Fiola is new and I'm sure Fabio and management will get the service staff up to speed soon. I shall definitely be a frequent diner at Fiola.

You know a place is good when the only complaint is that the menus were odd & unwieldy. Floppy leather, difficult to hold. But on to the important stuff: Rolls - to die for. Not your normal crusty Italian bread, but fabulous. Grilled octopus - huge and yummy. I think I had 16 legs & the slightly spicy tomato sauce at the bottom of the bowl was a great touch. Lobster ravioli - tasted hubby's. Also excellent. Ravioli was so light and the lobster was very good. Also had big piece of tail meat, off to the side of the place. A nice touch. Ricotta donuts - hubby said they were good, but not great, but loved the blackberry jam and creme anglaise that came with them. Affogato - simple but delish with vanilla choc chip gelato & espresso

I thought the food was good, except that one of people who dined with me ordered a spagetti dish that was so spicy/hot it was difficult to eat. I like hot/spicy food - as did she - but it was beyond either of our expectations and came with no warning from the waiter. The service was affirmatively horrible. I am still recommending this restaurant with the thought that the service issues might be a function of being new and still working out the kinks. We waited to be sat - despite a reservation and many other parties that arrived after us being seated before us (and the place was not full), we waited more than 20 minutes for our drink orders to be taken, and we finally had to flagged down the waiter to take our orders.

Granted that Fiola had only recently opened, but our evening was disappointing. Four of us joined for a birthday celebration and were put at the very back of the restaurant by a service door, the hostess suggested that this would be quieter. It wasn't. There were only 4 tables in this reverberating annex area and we were next to a noisy party of 6. No one came to answer questions or even ask for a drink order for 25 minutes after we were seated. The artichoke salad starter was miniscule and overpriced. We had 4 pastas, all priced from $25 up; only the small-portioned lobster ravioli($30)was better than just OK.

I was there for lunch, so I did not try enough courses to give Fiola an "honest" rating. That being said, what I ate was wonderful and I am anxious to return for dinner for a "soup to nuts" experience. Also, I was pleasantly surprised with the efficiency of service for a restaurant only in its second week of operation. Our visit to FIola confirmed that we were right to eagerly anticipate Chef Fabio Trabocchi's return to DC. The food was exquisitely prepared, intensely flavorful, and unique. Of particular note were the lobster ravioli and the slow cooked Kobe short ribs. The service was at a consistently high level, far above a customary expectation for a newly opened restaurant. The overall experience was memorable and we will surely be returning to Fiola often.

The food was okay but service was not so great. I cannot for the life of me, understand why the chef would offer diners a bland salad as a starter, to then follow it up with another salad as a side to the lunch chicken entree. But for the perfectly executed pesto chicken dish and the delightfully seasoned side salad that accompanied it, Fiola would have received "a thumbs down". However, please pay attention to the service!

Fabio, the food was amazing! Your wife stopped by our table twice and was very charming. We also had a few cocktails at the bar which were great as well (great choice snagging Jeff Faile). The restaurant was also beautiful. The only thing I would change was the floor lamp arching above our booth. The light was way too bright and the lamp stuck out too far and kept hitting our waiters head. Overall, for opening week, it was a near-perfect meal! Welcome back to DC!
