Food is always excellent, and their happy hour prices are pretty good. Last few visits the service has noticeably improved and is now very good (used to be pretty slow). Our kids like it and they have a few spots for larger groups (like my family of 6), but really recommend it for 'Date Nights.'

Ordered the Caramel Cheesecake. The cayenne pepper on the popcorn and in the dessert was over powering which made it inedible. Worst dessert ever. The chocolate chip cookie and ice cream on the other hand was really good! Definitely will not order the cheesecake ever again. Ruined the dessert portion of the meal. Our guests were not impressed.

Bennett's was really busy during happy hour on Friday so I was glad to have a reservation. I ended up ordering three plates from the happy hour menu, which was plenty and very reasonable. They are known for their macaroni & cheese (made with Beecher's Cheese), which is best as a side dish because it's so rich. Since the place was full, it was a little loud but we could still talk. The staff is friendly, and the service was attentive, except they didn't take away our plates after they were empty and I ended up stacking them on the table. In general, it's a warm, homey place in downtown Mercer Island with free parking in the garage.

  • Butternut squash ravioli
    OpenTable Diner Since 2005VIP
    Dined on 12/11/2013
Ravioli had very fresh squash, but it was also stuffed with a gorgonzola cheese. Although a nice combination, there was too much cheese for my taste and I felt it overpowered the delicate squash. The flatbread we had beforehand was very good and with it being on happy hour, we ordered a second! Nice wine selection, but the $14/glass was a bit steep for us to consider ordering a second glass.

  • Nothing to write home about

I live in the neighborhood and have been here twice -- once for brunch and another time for dinner. Let me start with the positives: the service is fabulous, and the restaurant decor and ambiance are both very nice. It's the only mid-high range semi-fine dining restaurant on Mercer Island. Now the negatives: the food is just nothing to write home about. I say this not to be a typical snobby foodie, but as a normal person who wants a good meal. don't appreciate paying mid-high prices for poorly executed food without an ounce of creativity. The restaurant looks good; the menu looks good (even the paper used to print the menu on); the staff is very nice; the wine list okay. But the food was just not good. I will not be coming back again.

Perhaps it was the holiday season but service at a table for three was awful. The waiter came to the table took a drink order for only one person and walked away even though the others at the table were prepared to order. After taking an order 10 minutes later from the other two, he returned with the wrong order. Food was average at best. We have had better experiences in the past at Bennett's and will try again but will not recommend until we see a change the next time.

Our visit to Bennett's Bistro was pretty good. The food was alright, with the exception of the Mac and Cheese, which was superb! I could eat a giant bowl of it! The service was great and our waitress was simply charming. I find Bennett's a little overpriced, but I guess you have to consider location. It's on Mercer Island, after all! Everything here is overpriced. All in all, a good experience.

I eat at Bennetts often: Great food, excellent service. I like sitting in the booths. The area has soft surfaces/carpet and is more quiet. This restaurant is dialed in to the right food at the right price in the right location. The Happy Hour is a REAL treat. SUGGESTION" If a guest says they will drink water for the meal, I wonder if you could offer to bring them a large glass or provide more bottles in the first place? It would improve my experience in what is already an excellent restaurant.

The food was very good and the waiter did a nice job. However, we had participated in restaurant week and had a terrible time getting a corrected bill. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure three times fifteen is forty-five. The hostess was very confrontational and refused to acknowledge that we were correct and the bill was wrong. Finally the second time she agreed but would not come back with the corrected bill and sent someone else. She should have apologized and had to face a situation that she of her own doing made hostile. Ruined a good meal for us.

If you are looking for for a casual place with good quality food, Bennett's is it. They pride themselves on using quality natural ingredients and it shows through in their food. Their claim the best Mac 'n Cheese in the world - and I have to say it is not an unreasonable claim. It is very good although technically, it is penne and cheese that they serve. Highly recommended!

Bennett's was very good. Good service. Good food. The question isn't if it's good, the question is it worth the money? Value? There is no view. The food is good but now amazing. Loved the place but wouldn't go back simply because the prices are too high for what you get. I'd pay those prices with that food and a view but not with that view and a view of the Mercer Island strip mall across the street.

Dinner with friends. Delicious to really good food, excellent service. The indoor/outdoor dining possibilities, great location and indoor parking make Bennetts oen of my go-to places. As an islander it's nice to be able to get a great meal without going off island - especially if the Mariners are playing and the 90 is a mess. It's also been great for business lunch or brunch with friends. I love their mussels appetizer and find it more that sufficient as an entree for me. Halibut and scallops were praised by others at our table.

I have lived on Mercer Island for two years and had never tried Bennett's until last weekend. I'm so glad that we did! I met two friends for brunch at 10am on a Saturday (right at opening) and we were the first people there. We had a great table outside, an attentive and friendly server, and the food was delicious. I am so accustomed to long waits, crowds, and chaos for weekend brunch- what a nice change of pace.

Bennett's focuses on fresh, no additives in delicious gourmet meals. My Bennett's Burger was so tasty, my son coveted it the entire meal! It was coupled with a fresh chipotle cole slaw--Yum. I couldn't resist by ending my meal with the individual sized caramel cheesecake ( hazelnut crust) Wow! although it was a bit too sweet for my taste, it was quite beautiful. So satisfying, great portions ( but not overkill ) and the wine samples a nice touch.

My mother and I went to Bennett's Pure Bistro after a long day of baking. My mother ordered the beet salad and pasta puttanesca. Wow, the salad was amazing! The ingredients were super fresh with a just picked flavor. My ceasar salad with grilled chicken was the BEST tasting ceasar salad I have ever had. I think it was the Beecher's cheese that made it so tasty. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone. They really take the time to get the best quality ingredients for their menu and it shows. The service was also, amazing. Our knowledgeable and friendly waiter made it a great experience.
