My friend and I had a great lunch here last friday. It was fairly busy but we weren't kept waiting for drinks or food. We both had only an hour for lunch and we still had time for a chai tea after our meal. We shared the lamb curry and tandoori salmon, both dishes were amazing and quite filling. Oh and the diningroom is lovely and open with huge windows.

Went to Copper Chimney with the 2013 entertainment book coupon. Would not have come here without it as it is quite expensive. We ate the lamb lollipops and the other lamb dish(forgot what it was) and both were very good! The flavours were delicious but the portions could have been bigger. Of course this is a fine dining restaurant so portions can't be humungous. The presentation was a little boring but still decent. Service was also top notch as they kept refilling our water. I wish they would start you off with some bread and butter though. We didn't order alcohol and the servers didn't seem pleased which I didn't really like. Otherwise, this is a good place to bring a date. Just remember to bring money!

We ordered from the Dine Out Vancouver menu and all three courses were stellar! Spicy, but not overwhelming - the butter chicken was melt-in-your-mouth fantastic. Service was excellent - fast, friendly and knowledgable. The ambiance at Copper Chimney is wonderful. Dark, rich colours - warm and wonderfully aromatic. Perfect for a romantic dinner. If I lived in Vancouver I would eat here all the time.

Was very disappointed in the portions for the Christmas Day dinner. There were almost no vegetables on the plate and very little turkey with a gross stuffing. It comes across like a place that is struggling for business. I would never go back. When we returned from dinner two hours later we ended up ordering room service to our hotel room as we were still hungry.

Really quite poor service for what the restaurant is. Especially for the price. Two of our party ordere the same drink and received what amounted to one drink poured into two martini glasses. Even worse was that none of the drinks tasted as if they had alcohol in them. Waitress was pushy. Portions were extremely small. Restaurant called to say they didn't have our signed receipt, then called again to say that they found the receipt but that there was a tipping issue. Completely disorganized, and terrible service.

I have been to Copper Chimney 4x and I am always hoping that the service will get better but have been disappointed every time. Our reservations were at 12:15pm and we didn't get our food till after 1pm! It was pretty bad when you don't get hot water till you 20 minutes after you have ordered. We ordered a dish with raita and like always, it wasn't brought out with our lunch. Actually, it is usually forgotten. So my meal didn't come out all together. I had to ask for the raita, but i was 1/3 of the way thru my meal before i received it. i don't understand why service is always so poor. On my 4th shot, I don't think I will be going back or recommending it to anyone:(.

If you like Indian food, this is the place for you. I had ordered the tandoori salmon and was delighted. I would be able to say that it was one of the best salmon I ever had. My husband, not a huge fan of Indian food, ordered the 5 spice steak. He said he would go back to Copper Chimney again and again for the steak. He let me try a piece and at that moment, regardless of how good my salmon was, I regretted not ordering the steak. We are going back in 2 weeks for another dinner! Service was great and I enjoyed the atmosphere. Dim lighting giving it a very warm feeling. It wasn't very busy so it was nice and quiet, which is what I prefer when I'm out with my husband. Keeps the evening intimate.

I have been here many times years before and found it very good then but recently not for at least a year. I found the service was lacking as the attendants didn't know the menu or wine list very well. They served our entrees before we finished our appetizer and took a long time to come back for payment after giving us the bill so we could pay. This was lunchtime and there weren't many people left that made it too busy for them. Also, we sat in the corner by a hutch and it was layered in dust like they haven't cleaned it for some time which made it unappetizing.

I made a reservation for 10 people but when we arrived at the restaurant, we were seated at a table for 6. I asked the server to move us to a larger table and told the server that I had made a reservation for 10. Server argued with me and insisted that I had made a reservation for 8. Meal was uncomfortable as we did not have enough space. Restaurant was practically empty so I don't understand why they could not move our group to a larger table. Servers were not polite or welcoming. Drinks were overpriced.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2009
    Dined on 6/4/2012
The food does not disappoint, but the service needs quite a bit of work. There were 8 of us that come in on lunch - it took a bit of time to get our order out even though it was not busy. The raita came in one big bowl for 4 of to share - but we were not sitting together and we had no side dishes to put the raita into. 3 of us had hot water, but when one of us asked for more hot water, our server didn't anticipate to get the other 2 hot water too. The wraps came with salads, but they never came out together - why? Lastly, our bill was separated, but it took so long to swipe the cards. Our server was running up and down the stairs and took 20 minutes to ring us thru and we are not sure why?

We made an open table reservation for 5:00 pm on a Sunday, just an hour or so ahead. It turns out the restaurant had intended to be closed for a wedding reception at 7:30 pm, so wouldn't have taken a reservation by phone. Nevertheless they set aside a table for us, and got to work in the kitchen, and prepared and served delicious meals to our group of 6 people. We really appreciated the effort they made to make sure we were happy and didn't need to be turned away.

The food is quite good - especially the fries. The masala fish and chips was awesome and the lamb curry was great. An area that needs an overhaul is the service. The waitress seemed like she was forced to be at work; the bus-girl took our plates away before we were done eating. Some of the girls were hard to understand and spoke very softly.

Very comfortable room and quiet so that you can enjoy conversation with your dinner companians. Very attentive service - above and beyond. One of our group barely touched dinner - feeling a bit off from jet lag - and they were so concerned they comped two desserts to make sure the group had a little treat at the end of a very good meal. Cherry tomato and goat cheese salad was excellent. My companions enjoyed a nice selection of vegaratian fare and the tiger prawn curry dish was very very good as well. I would recommend this restaurant for an interesing meal of international cuisine and a good place to go to visit and catch up away from big noisy crowds.

This restaurant seems not to be on the radar for many people. Both times I have tried it, at lunch, it has been about half full at its busiest. The atmosphere is quiet and relaxing, which makes it easy to converse with dining partners.

Using a coupon in the entertainment book for a free entrée, my husband and another couple went to this restaurant on a Saturday evening. It wasn't busy but the restaurant was decorated nicely and comfortable. We ordered the goat cheese prawn pakora, which were 4 pieces and ended up coming without goat cheese and the calamari to start. The calamari tasted exquisite because it was lightly battered and wasn't too oily. For dinner I ordered the crab cakes which were good but a little dry and were topped with an excellent mango salsa. My husband ordered to lamb chops which lacked flavor and had no Indian spices. Our friends both ordered the halibut and were extremely disappointed with the bland flavor. We all had to add salt, pepper & chillies

We went to Copper Chimney on New Year's Eve 2011. On the positive, the staff and servers are very friendly. The food, however was a bit disappointing. The 10oz steak was grisly, lots of tendons and fat. It looked and tasted liked an amateur prepare it. The mashed potato looks like it came from am instant package. The salad looked like it was hastily prepared and not much thought was put into it. The chair didn't feel comfortable at all, the table too small and I felt like I was eating in a lobby. I just didn't have the cozy feeling other I get in other restaurants of this calibre.

We went with high hopes for an asian inspired culinary delight. Unfortunately the more traditional indian curry dish we tried should have been described as lamb in a tasteless hot brown sauce while the halibut, which we expected to be delicately spiced, was bland, overcooked and inedible. We chose a red wine in the $65 dollar range and it was unavailable and the next one we chose was also unavailable. We had the same experience with the white wines. Again our first two choices were also unavailable.
