Food was very good. Service was friendly and excellent. Music (a live guitarist), however, was too loud and the room was a little too warm to be really comfortable.

I really, really wanted Terasol to be better than it was. You couldn't ask for a friendlier atmosphere in this charming little spot. We had just returned from France, and had many meals in small and charming bistros, so we thought Terasol would provide a taste of the food and wine we just experienced. However, their limited menu was really not up to "French" standards. Hopefully, they will improve as time goes by. We were made to feel as if we were welcomed guests, and we will be returning to give it another, well-deserved shot. I just wish were a bit better.

Terasol is quite unique for upper NW. It's a small, very French bistro with absolutely delicious food. The quiche Lorraine was better than any I had in France; terrific texture and crust. All their salads are perfectly dressed and their onion soup might as well be a signature dish. All of these delights are inexpensive and the ambiance includes soft, gorgeous lighting with fantastic music on the weekends. The performers are all very impressive who have played many distinquished venues. The music could be featured on its own! Try it for their special BASTILLE DAY CELEBRATION, Friday, July 15th or before. You won't be dissapointed. It will become a favorite, romantic spot. Handcrafted items are for sale as well. ~Tybe Diamond

Terasol is a special little cafe...it truly feels like a little Paris bistro but with friendlier staff. The staff is attentive and eager to please. The food is tasty, the wine good, and the music on Friday and Saturday evenings a lovely bonus!

Loved the quirky combination of art gallery and bistro. The Saturday night guitar music was delightful. Food is not outstanding and menu not too extensive but good enough for a casual nigh out.

Overall, this place is a great find. The meal was excellent - real French food and tasteful as ever. The menu is limited but we found that everything on it is what they do really well (esp the frisee salad with warm goat cheese and for dessert, the dark chocolate mousse). We were a bit put off when we arrived by the decor (nothing special) but from the moment we sat down, the service was very good, the ambience turned out to be warm, and we were pleasantly surprised that there was live music, just a bass and guitar player playing quiet French tunes. It was a place to remember.

My wife and I enjoyed our first dinner here on a Saturday night. The dining room is smallish and appealing -- stylistically simple, classicaly old-fashioned, and sort of European (or even like something on Magazine Street in New Orleans). Everyone involved in the service is helpful and pleasant, including the owners who take orders and facilitate things. On Saturdays, there's live music playing, and that helps to warm the feel and the sound of the room. The menu is limited and straightforward -- boeuf bourgignone, quick, salads, roast chicken, for example. While the flavors were not exciting or special, everything was good, and was just what we wanted, and we had a nice time in a very pleasant room. We will go back there again.

The restaurant owner, Alan, was incredibly flexible and accomodating. He, along with the restaurant staff, went out of their way to make sure our group had a nice time. Everyone in my group enjoyed the food and atmosphere. It was the perfect choice for our event. I would definately go back.

  • Delightful French Bistro

Terasol is a wonderful new addition to the Chevy Chase DC neighborhood. The French bistro and adjoining pottery shop make for a delightful all-around experience, where dining and shopping can both be enjoyed in one trip. Although the menu is somewhat limited, all items are expertly prepared. The owners and staff are very gracious and attentive. On Friday nights, and on other special occasions, the ambiance is enhanced by accomplished local musicians, either classical or jazz guitar accompanied by bass, clarinet or second guitar, and, in an unusual twist at a restaurant, the diners actually applaud the musicians at the conclusion of each piece.

Great food meets great art! Feeling lucky to have discovered this wonderful little bistro! To start, owners Alan and Sabrina are friendly & inviting - great first impression. The menu is small, but all things are prepared with the freshest ingredients & it comes through in the unique flavors of the food. My husband and I went there for V.day for their special dinner - wonderful. Plus, the music was an added & unexpected bonus that made our night really special. The place is kid friendly (my toddler loves the fruit salad infused with mint), but some of the art is at kid level, so be careful. This place is charming and absolutely worth the visit! PS: if you like a piece of art, buy it! It goes fast! I missed buying a coveted paintin
