I went for lunch with my cousin. I had the Fettucini Genovese and my cousin had one of the Chicken Pastas. The food was devine. All the servers were beyond friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend this place. As I came during the lunch hour midweek, parking was not an issue.

Complete experience you would expect in any tratoria in Italy, but hard to find here at home. The welcoming Staff, Waiter's mouthwatering menue explanation, great food & wine choices and everything tasting wonderful. Would love to go there every night to work thru the entire menue. A must go to when in San Diego

Four of us ate outside at BA on Aug. 28, 2013. All of the food was excellent. I had the seafood linguine which was truly excellent and is always my "test" dish at a new Italian restaurant. My wife had the veal scaloppini which was excellent also. The third member of our party had the sea bass in a red sauce and she commented that it was delicious. The fourth in our party had the rabbit. The waiter warned us that the rabbit "had not" received good reviews, in general. But our friend (a rabbit lover) ordered it and thought it was very good but could have used more spice--it tended to be a bit bland. Our server was extremely attentive and humorous and a real plus. We would return; BA is a keeper.

This is our favorite restaurant in Little Italy. Everything is wonderfully prepared and tastes delicious. {Pastas, seafood, salads, soups and desserts). Wine list though is alittle disappointing in terms of taste and value. The one problem with the restaurant is that it is so busy that the waiters are rushing around like demons, and unfortunately rushing you to make selections and get them served. We had reservations on a Monday night and it was jammed. They take no reservations on the weekend. It's very good, but be prepared to be hustled. This isn't a place for a quiet dinner lingering over drinks and great conversation.

The only issue with this restaurant is the cramped seating; it is a very small restaurant, but because the food is amazing, it attracts a steady crowd which means it is always full. Being a small restaurant, full capacity means cramped seating.

Outstanding food, but so noisy that it was impossible to have a normal conversation with someone seated no more than two feet away. What a shame! The noise spoiled what should have been a truly excellent dining experience - but noise and "high energy" seem to be the "in thing" these days, so I suppose that I will have to learn to accept this absurd situation. Wife and I have eaten at Buon Appetito for late lunch when the restaurant was quieter.

Visiting San Diego for a few days and through Open Table review booked at Buon Appetito. Outstanding dinner. We had Cioppino that was loaded with seafood with a delicious sauce and veal piccata that was tender and extremely tasty. Best of all the prices were reasonable. We have paid much more for similar food in other restaurants that wasn't half as good. Great service too.

We really enjoyed our dinner at Buon Appetito. Very friendly staff. No children's menu, but I think that's a good thing. We ordered pasta primavera with red sauce for our daughter (4 years old). We asked for the sauce on the side, just in case. She loved it! She also ate some of our lamb and veal (both were excellent, by the way).

Small somewhat noisy Italian restaurant in Little Italy. Food was quite good with large portions. Reasonably priced, good diverse wine list including many wines from Italy. Service was a bit slow, it took quite a while for us to even get a server's attention to get water and to order, but we weren't in that much of a hurry anyway. We were surprised at how busy the little place was on the Tuesday night we were there!

This was our first visit to San Diego's Little Italy and we were not disappointed by the BUON APPETITO restaurant. As stated above the food and service were excellent even though we went for lunch. The restaurant is small as you would expect for a intown place but you don't feel at all crowded. The noise level is quite high due in part for us because there was a loud party near our table. The only caution I would recommend is to be careful and plan for extra parking time if you drive. The restaurant is easy to find but a parking spot is not.

I had made reservations, but still had to wait for about 20 min after my reserved time to get a table. Once we had sat at the table, we were ignored for another 20 min or so. I had to flag down someone that worked at the restaurant to ask them if we even had a waiter. He was another waiter working a different section and was nice enough to take our order. The poor service killed this one for me, and I doubt that I will go back.

Buon Appetito is a great find in the heart of San Diego. It is small and loud, but not overwhelming, while the decor is subtle and tasteful. All of that is irrelevant when you taste the food. Absolutely amazing. We have been there many times and it never disappoints. Great menu, fast service and arguably the best Italian food in Southern California. Did I mention it is very reasonably priced, as well!

We were here for Valentines Day, so we did have reservations. We were sat on the other side of Buon Appetito in a corner where the space was very small. It seemed like they added several of extra tables & chairs which made it very uncomfortable. I asked the female hostess if we can sit outside and she was very rude. After that whole interaction, she allowed us to sit outside where the space was more spacious & comfortable. The server and food was great.

We went here on Valentine's Day. It was packed, and this place does not leave a lot of space between tables, so maybe not the most romantic spot ever, but the food and service made up for it. We asked for meals without dairy, and the kitchen complied with very delicious wine-based sauces. Our calimari was great, as was the fish with morels, but I thought my pasta with mushrooms and peas was the best of the lot -- I had enough to take home and have the next day - yum! I would return here tomorrow!

After looking through previous Open Table reviews, I decided to make a Valentine's Day reservation for my wife and me. When we arrived we were immediately seated and waited upon. Restaurant was packed with couples celebrating Valentine's Day and the atmosphere was lively with conversation. The food was generally excellent with large entre portions. We both had the Lobster Bisque as an appetizer. The taste of the Bisque was good; however, it was not as thick as I normally would like. Overall experience was great. We will visit again.

We came to celebrate my father-in-laws birthday. They came in from out of town and wanted some authentic Italian food. The food was pretty good, but the service was terrible. It took almost an hour for our food to come out and the restaurant was almost empty. There were no apologies made for the lack of timeliness. I had also made this reservation on Open Table and stated that we were there celebrating his birthday and coming to visit us, but the waiter did not acknowledge any of that. My husband and I live in the neighborhood and normally have a good experience at this place, but I'm not sure we'll be coming back for awhile...

Italian restaurant located in Little Italy outshines many of other good places. This place reminds one of why you want to go "out to dinner". We had calamari, tricolore salad, linguini with seafood, pasta with pesto and osso bucco. Every plate was perfect. Interesting option is that there are 2 ways they prepare the Osso Bucco. They have the original, with veal, as well as pork. My friend tried the pork, never having it before. We all were impressed! I loved it especially as I refuse to eat veal.
