Ate in the bar area, which included a very pleasant young singer. Offers a nice range of wines. Ordered a steak, which was average (not cokked over an open flame). Nice salad, sides. Plesant service. The two dinners, no apetizer, salad, 1-cocktail between the two of us cost $100 - a bit expenseive for an average steak. I'll probably give this restuarante one more try; maybe.

  • This is absolutely our favorite
    OpenTable Diner Since 2006

This is absolutely our favorite restaurant away from the big-city lights! The restaurant setting is in a small victorian home with limited tables but perfect for a romantic evening or a girls-night-out. The service is fantastic and the food...let's just say every bite I've taken is mouth-watering. Steaks are cooked to order and if you want something special (not on the menu)call ahead and they can arrange it for you. How many restaurants do that? Enjoy!

I must admit that the name fooled me and I had no idea the upscale experience awaiting me. This is my idea of a four star restaurant. It is tucked away in Roanoke, but easily accessible from any city in the DFW area. Wine selection was immense and the owner is happy to help you choose from the wine closet. In the bar area a young woman passionately serenaded the audience on her acoustical guitar. The appetizer called "Texas Gold Shrimp" was the culinary delight that had my hands dripping in garlic butter as I attempted to sop up every last drop of the sauce. My salmon entree melted in my mouth leaving a light after-flavor of lemony dill. Hip local art cemented this "cafe" as a contender among heavy hitters in the DFW restaurant scene.

We have not been out to Classic in some time. With so many choices in the area, the competition shows. We had an excellent meal, were not rushed, engjoyed our evening. We went on Saturday night, live music in bar. It was not a busy night with many waiting to be seated. Pricely, but very good. I would visit again.

Our only disappointment -- Flower Petal.com (Order #1916812635) did not deliver my order. Classic Cafe management in an effort to help me, offered to go to a local florist on my behalf. The Classic Cafe is 5-star in my opinion! My wife and I will return and we will recommend the Classic Cafe to others. PS -- I will not order from Flower Petal.com ever again!

We only go to the Classic Cafe about once a year. That's due to pricing and our budget. It's my husband's first choice for his birthday so we make it for that always. Wonderful service, great food, and a nice ambiance. Outstanding! We'll save up to do this again.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2004
    Dined on 6/14/2008
We have dined at The Classic Cafe many times.. For the first time, we made a special request for a "great table" because we were bringing friends who had never been there before for a very special celebration. Upon arrival, our friends had already been seated at a crowded table in the bar area and walkway. We noticed an empty talble across the bar and asked to be moved. While waiting in the entry of the restaurant, it was very uncomfortable as you could hear the employees arguing over the move and a "they can just wait for a table " remark. I introduced myself and explained the situation, we were moved but I was embarrassed at the handling of this situation by the management. I'm not sure they read the comments for reservations.

    OpenTable Diner Since 2008

Saturday night was the first time we ate at the Classic Cafe. We were told the food would be good, although pricey. The food was excellent. Both myself and my wife ordered dishes which were our first time eating them. My wife had called the restaurant after she made the reservation and asked if they do anything special for birthdays. They did decorate a cake plate that said Happy 60th Birthday, but it was presented to my wife instead of me. Also, my wife might have misunderstood, but she thought the birthday dessert was gratus. That was the only faux pas and not one to keep us from eating there again.

We had a wonderful time, as usual. We were, unfortunately, sat next to a large group ... and dining in a small room ... we heard everything in their conversation. If this was the first time dining here, that would have upset me. Instead, we thoroughly enjoyed our meal and had a wonderful, romantic time together.

I've lived in Roanoke for over a year now and within 10 miles of this gem for many years, but never know of this great local restaurant... it's just up the street from Babe's famous fried chicken place. The food was excellent, wine list superb, and the atmosphere was first-rate classy... We had the calamari appetizer (best I've had a long time!) and both had steaks (incredibly tender and tasty fillets) each with a different delectable sauce. Next time (there WILL be a next time), I'll try some of the more unique offerings and/or house specials...it ALL sounded great! Desserts were decadent! ...it was a bit loud, but in all fairness, and to our waiters chagrin, it was a bit louder than normal due to the "race Weekend" crowd.

We were a party of 6 at Easter lunch, my wife and I ordered the Pork Tenderloin, and it was so undercooked/raw, we had to send it back to be cooked. Not good, especially with Pork. On a previous luncheon with a business associate, his food was also too raw, and had to be sent back to be cooked. Please correct this, or we will not be frequenting the restaurant.

It was average at best. The service was ok. She tried. Bread below average. We had to return the long ice tea 2 times and end up having a regular iced tea. Lobster bisque??? Go to Pappas Bros. and taste the real thing. Main dish, fish, was just ok. We had the 4 desserts sampler (by now i've should know better but oh well) Pumpkin spice cake, chocolate cake, peppermint cheesecake and the vanilla bean creme brulee. Again, average at best. 1000 times better is cheesecake factory and less expensive.
