A word from The Four Seasons Restaurant – The Grill Room
The Grill Room at The Four Seasons Restaurant is truly a New York phenomenon that New York Magazine calls "the city's greatest dining room."

Wildly popular for generations, by day it serves a classic New York business lunch that attracts a who's who of moguls, politicians, socialites, models, philanthropists, architects and journalists.

At night, when the lights go down, and Manhattan loosens its collar, the Grill Room is a spectacular Midtown meeting place for those who appreciate after work cocktail and a bird's eye view for spectacular people-watching.

On Wednesdays, the Grill Room is home to live performance by Gianni Russo and a wide array of surprise guest stars. They have included Chris Noth of Sex & the City and The Good Wife who made his musical debut in the Four Seasons, Grammy-winning singer Gloria Gaynor, Dominic Chianese of The Sopranos and Boyd Tinsley, the violinist from The Dave Matthews Band.

The architecture, decor, airiness and modernist alure make all the difference. Food is great, service is ultra-professional. "100 places to dine at before you die"-type of place.

The service was great and very attentive. Overall, the food was very good, especially the Grand Marnier souffle, which was fantastic! However, we were very disappointed by the overall ambience and dining experience. This was an anniversary dinner, so we were hoping for a more romantic setting. Based on the online reviews, I was expecting a more intimate and romantic setting. We were seated at a nice table for two in the Grill Room. The floor to ceiling teak walls and sparse furnishings made us feel like we were in a 1970s convention holding room, waiting to get into the main dining room. It was neither romantic nor intimate. Very disappointing.

The food was mediocre and the staff was not only incompetent but insulting. There was no accountability for the series of errors made by the staff. Even worse, there were no apologies. The food was fine but not great. Considering the price, there are many superior alternatives in the city.

We had a wonderful lunch at Four Seasons. It was not inexpensive, but for a special lunch it was spectacular. Food, service, ambience, all were spot on and top shelf. Ivan, out main server was professional, knowledgable with a very pleasant disposition. The entire staff was great, and we are not regulars, this was our first time at this restaurant. It is definitely a power lunch spot, and the room is filled with the big hitters of the NYC and beyond business and philanthropic world, but we were treated with the same level of service. If you are looking for a special place for a relaxing, perfect lunch with great food. This is worth the price.

We booked on Open Table The Four Seasons "The Grill". When we arrived, they said "The Grill?" There was no one sitting in the grill, its a bar with tables. They took us to the restaurant, which is fine, guys need a jacket, but I think its all overblown and way too puffed up about how good they think they are. I'm not sure this place is relevant any more...and it hurts the Four Seasons brand. We love it in Milan, Vancouver and SF, but NY? We will take a pass next time...maybe you should, too... PS...I'm glad I checked the bill There was a "phantom" $18 white wine charge that we never ordered...

We went to the Four Seasons to celebrate two adjacent birthdays. Everything from the wonderful food (excellent duckling, the consistently best crab cakes in the city, and terrific crispy oysters sent by the chef for us to taste even though we didn't order them) the cool and fun ambience in the pool room, a really nice waiter named Giussepe . . . all contributed to a really memorable event. No pretension at all -- how can a restaurant be pretentious when they bring you a two-foot high pouf of homemade pink cotton candy to top off the meal -- and it was just really fun and outstanding in every way. The Four Seasons is one of NYC's best restaurants for a long list of reasons. We'll be back -- I just have to save up a bit.

What can one say? The Four Seasons has to be experienced. The trap is to act the sophisticate. The trick is to remain yourself, real, down to earth. That way you get to enjoy the wait staff along with the food. Our waiter had a great sense of humor. With us, being relaxed he shared that. If we played stuck up, he wouldn't have shown us that side. If you're a Foodie, the tastes are subtly elegant in the classic sense. You can pick from so many delightful dishes and it's hard to say one is better than another. Certainly, try the Duck, maybe the best I've ever had. And the Fava Bean soup, seasoned just right. In order not to over eat, my wife and I shared the Summer menu and had one dish from each section. That's the way to go.

The Four Seasons is an exquisite setting, with impeccable cuisine and service. It is a regular haunt for those of us who reside in the City and love the 'institutions' that have maintained their panache! Far from the racket of trendy "wanna be" places, an evening of delightful enjoyment, business accommodation and impressiveness, or pure self indulgence ...this restaurant frequently is my first choice when others disappoint upon entering.

I thought it was already Friday. The band was playing sweet jazz wit incredible skill. I bought their CD and the composer signed it. The bar was electric, the crowd was eclectic and the food was to die for. I wanted to order everything on the menu, but we were only a party of six. And we still escaped for less than a dime. What a fantastic time!

It's hard not to like the Four Seasons Restaurant, from the wide, open spaces and high ceilings, to the excellent food and very attentive service. Bottom line is this is a "can't miss" experience in Manfattan, whether for a business lunch or dinner, or a romantic evening out with a loved one.

We went to celebrate our anniversary and ordered from the pre theater dinner menu. The waiter had a snobby attitude and although we got there when the restaurant opened I felt because we didn't order from the regular menu that we were treated a little differently. The quality of the food for the price was very disappointing. When you add in 2 glasses of wine to the dinner, tax and tip the bill came to $200. The restaurant ambience is beautiful but the steak wasn't tender and the dessert looked like they sliced a piece of a chocolate log cake that was frozen and put it on the plate. I was expecting a wonderful meal and great service. The meal didn't live up to the restaurant's reputation. Must be that they are living off of their past glory.

She visited Four Seasons as one of her first outings when she turned 4. They made it possible to relive the same special moment and surprised her with the cotton candy as they did 18 years ago. She will remember forever. Thank you for a priceless memory. Drs. Carlos and Eneida (Roldan) Valdes-Lora

I thought The Grill Room was heavily overpriced for the quality and substance. The suggested wine pairings were extremely dear and every single item on the menu was at the upper end of price levels. The food itself was decent, but did not warrant the very heavy price tag and portion size was on the small side. The venue is also a little stuffy and made a casual business dinner far too formal. I can't believe this venue does not have the maximum $$$$ reference - it should have - possibly the most expensive restaurant in the city in my experience. On a side note, I was told my attendance was not recognised by the restarant after checking in with the maitre'd on time, coming back several times as full party arrived and then being sat.

We decided to eat in the Pool Room and we were not disappointed. The service was wonderful; the main waiter and his staff did everything to make us feel comfortable. We were not rushed and we were made to feel welcome. I had the salad, sirloin steak; my sister the fried oysters (delicious) and the bass. We both had the chocolate souffle which is the best souffle in the world!!!! This was the highlight of our lunch. We were also surprised to receive the huge cotton candy dessert with strawberry ice cream. We could barely touch it; we were so full.

By the time I realized That there should have been a less expensive bar menu it was too late. I think both menus should have been presented as we were Hoping for a less expensive experience and had signed up with this in mind. Felt a bit manipulated- not a good way for the restaurant To make extra money on unsuspecting diners who are unfamiliar with all of the different rooms at the restaurant. First, if you want to try the Four Seasons for anything but a high impact business meal you want the "Pool Room" not the Grill Room. The Grill Room is awesomely impressive but austere almost to the point of being cold. The restaurant could have steered me to the Pool Room but didn't. Second, the food was competent and well presented but flawed relative to my high expectations. Portion sizes were generous for such a high end restaurant. However, my Dover Sole tasted a tad fishier than really fresh fish should and my wife remarked that her broccoli tasted bitter. Third, I think the bill was suggesting a $125 tip on a $190 tab would be appropriate. I didn't think so.
