This place never disappoints. The food in unique and excellent. If you like Haggis - it's super yum. If you've never had it - it's the only place to try it. But, the have a wonderful selection of food for both dinner and lunch. The bar is warm and inviting - a piece if Scotland in JP. The beers are great and they've added some cocktails to the menu which is awesome. I would certainly recommend this place to others - go, have fun, try something new and bask in Andy's wonderful Scottish accent!

The Haven has captured the very essence of every one of the "old school" Scottish homes and bars I've ever visited. The food was phenomenal and I just instantly felt like I was visiting a pub that I had been to before. The staff is friendly and it just has a casual and comfortable feel. I'll be heading back, for sure - but can imagine as the days get colder this will become a winter favorite place to seek warmth. It's great! Loved the haggis (yes, really!), bridies, scallops and pear salad. The dense bread and butter reminded me of home. :) All great.

The Haven had a great list of Scottish beers and hard ciders. We loved the Scottish Eggs. i found the white homemade sausage a bit to salty for my taste, but my husband loved his burger. The place had a cozy atmosphere just the type of inviting place one would go to on a crisp autumn weekend afternoon after a stroll around the Jamaica Pond...only thing missing would be a peat fire! Next time i will try the fried Mars bar. Loved the men in kilts.

From its delicious food and drink selections to its friendly service, everything about The Haven is delightful. Walking in to the restaurant feels like arriving home and we're always treated like family. Have a burger? Ask to ring the bell if its the best you've tasted. Try haggis and you'll be amazed and wonder why you've never tried it previously. Have fish supper, have anything and everything because its all tremendous. Typically I order the same thing at restaurants, but at The Haven everything is lovely. Enjoy it all

We enjoyed the cozy ambiance of a corner table near the bar. The bartender/owner and the hostess are efficient and affable. Come for the selection of Scottish beers unique in Boston, and stay for the savory comfort food! Particularly good are the house made white pudding chicken sausage with garlic mashed potatoes and parsnips; the stuffed peppers redolent of Indian spices; the cullen skink, a cream of potato and green onion soup with smoked fish; and the smoked fish plate. (Smoked fish goes so well with good beer!)

We found The Haven on line and read good things about it. It was walking distance from our hotel which made it even better. Despite the 98 degree temperature outside, it was nice and cool inside. The staff were very friendly and had great Scottish accent. The menu features authentic Scottish fare and drinks. My wife had the stuffed peppers and I had the homemade chicken sausage. They were AMAZING! Plenty of food at a very reasonable price. I would highly recommend The Haven. It's easy to get to. Take the Green E line to the end at Heath St. It's about a 5 minute walk from there.

The menu is a bit small and is definitely pretty meaty (I am a vegetarian) but the service is always gracious and pleasant, and they make nice drinks. Live music some nights is icing on the cake. I wish the chairs were more comfy (they are NOT) and that they'd serve just one vegan thing at brunch other than the fruit. But in all, I like the Haven, it is a charming spot, it is always clean, and their truffled rutabaga at dinner is a surprisingly yummy dish.

What do you feel like for dinner ... Chinese, Thai, Indian, Italian, Scottish? Wait, what? At last, the elusive Scottish dining option comes to the Boston area. And the food is excellent. The menu most definitely needs the accompanying glossary to explain things like "neeps" and "rumpledeethumps", but once you find some favorites, you'll remember the lingo. Don't miss the Scotch Eggs, possibly the best late night snack to go with a pint or three of the amazing and unique brews available.

Having been to Scotland, I realize that food is not necessarily the draw. That being said, the food at the Haven was delicious and unique - drawing on (and perhaps enhancing) a few traditional Scottish dishes while making available a good burger with a twist. Took my friend there for his birthday, decided to make the reservation online. We walked in on the dot of 6:30 and were taken right to a table waiting for the two of us without any delay. The appetizers and drinks were fantastic and the food came at the perfect time. The scotch eggs were such an excellent appetizer that we ended up getting a second round!!! The drinks complemented the food perfectly and the dinner was amazing. The service was top notch. Our server was doing laps around that place but never abandoned us, was always perfectly attentive to everything, and was graceful in every way. Dessert was delicious and the ports touched it off perfectly. The price added up but it was worth every penny.

This restaurant/scottish pub was, for some reason, not quite what I expected. The brunch menu was very limited, very scottish and very good - I recommend that you look at it before heading over. My one complaint is that it really wasn't kid friendly, although we ended up doing ok. When I asked the waitress about modifying (simplifying) some of the menu items, she winced and said that the chef was very reluctant to modify...I get wanting people to have the scottish experience, but the adult experience would have been better if the kids had been happier - my bad for not researching more....

My husband came to Boston for a conference and we decided to check this place out before we left. We took the T down to Jamaica Plains and walked through a sketchy neighborhood to get to this place. This piqued my curiosity about this place even more. I was really glad to experience this place. It's very unique and the brunch was great. I had a quiche special of the day and my husband had the Smoked Fish Cakes. The drinks were great too. I can't recommend coming here for brunch enough.

We brought our mom to the Haven for Mother's Day. We were all extremely impressed! We started with the seafood platter which had a variety of smoked fish and the Scottish deviled eggs. I had scallops, my mom got the fish supper, my brother the burger. Everything was perfectly done and the flavors were fabulous. The fried fish batter had a nutmeg tinge to it - unexpected but yummy! My brother says its the best burger he's ever had. Atmosphere is funky yet homey and the service was great - you feel like you can relax. Our server was also helpful explaining the beer list and letting my mom sample something before making a choice. And, the owner gave her a Scottish candy bar for mothers day. All in all, we cant wait to visit the Haven again!

As a table of four, we ordered 4 appetizers, 4 entrees and 4 desserts, plus drinks. Not a crumb remained on any plate. Everything was beyond our expectations ~ fresh and delicious. The cullent skink was made to order and outstanding. I had lamb vindaloo and whilst excellent to most American palates, I would have preferred it a whole lot hotter (as in spicier). Husband enjoyed the haggis which was individually prepared and cooked. I liked it but, once again, thought it might be tempered a little to American tastes ~ not as spicy and peppery as we have at home. That being said, it was delicious and we scoffed the lot. Sticky toffee pudding went down a treat and we all left very sated and vowing to return.

The staff were authentic Scottish and super helpful with beer recommendations. The food was really good across the board (there were 4 in our party and we all ordered different things so I had the opportunity to try several items on the menu). We had a reservation, but our table wasn't ready. Nevertheless, the staff was good about keeping us informed and we were seated only about ten minutes late. Service was attentive and efficient. Staff was concerned that everything was o.k. In fact, I didn't like the beer I ordered and the waitress was very gracious about my returning it and ordering another. My only quibble is that my chicken was unexceptional--a generous portion, but bland. Not something I'd order again. I will, though, return. There are plenty of other dishes to try.
