I had the best onion soup - and it came with perfect view of the Rockefeller Christman tree. Who could ask for anything more on a cold night in December. Crowds outside...if they only knew just how warm and inviting Brasserie Ruhlmann was inside. Ok, so my sushi was not quite the thing to order after the filling and fabulous soup, but I cannot wait to return to try other items on the menu.

We were spending a pre-Xmas day in the city. We were going to end at Rockefeller Center and wanted to find a spot nearby. Reviews on Open Table were excellent so decided to give it a try. Asked for views of the tree, and got it without question. Service was fabulous, food was wonderful. Quite a gem in the "tourist" area and definitely not the typical tourist trap. Turned out to be the perfect place to dine and end a perfect day in the city. Atmosphere quite nice, maitre'd was welcoming, warm and accomodating. Great dinner - loved the lobster mac and cheese, fish tacos, short ribs, hanger steak - everything was delicious and beautifully presented.

We were in the city for the Dec. 21st Saturday Night Live show. The tickets came only one week prior, I had little time to find a restaurant - I heard that there may be rain on the way so I searched for a restaurant near 30 Rock. We were welcomed immediately to a friendly staff. We love French cuisine but I felt the menu was limited, the food good but not great. I would probably go somewhere else if given the chance to go for French food again. Our server was knowledgeable and nice. I asked for foie gras (a staple) and they didn't serve it. We ordered the cheese plate for two, my wife and I both ordered fish dishes and had two drinks a piece. With tip - $233. A bit pricey for what we received.

We went here for lunch with several children after the Radio City Christmas show and they were so kind to us all -- really stellar service. The maitre d' kept checking on us, and was truly concerned when my son didn't eat all of his tempura sushi, even offering to make something else for him. There was something delicious on the menu for all and best off all we had a gorgeous uninterrupted view of The Tree. Plus is wasn't loud at all. Lunch here during the holidays will surely be repeated.

Every year my husband and I make the trip from Jersey during the holidays to see the tree and we always book a reservation at Ruhlmann for dinner. Their service is excellent and the food is always very good. This year we got a table that we were able to see the tree while dining. I have always enjoyed this restaurant but at this time of year in Rockefeller Center it's always special.

This is a pricey restaurant in a pricey neighborhood: Rockefeller Center. As a one-time event at this time of year, Christmas, it's a great place to be. The restaurant is on the plaza level and our table gave us an excellent view of the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree. The ambience is strictly commercial. The food was good but not exceptional and service was good considering that the restaurant was quite busy.

Went with sweetheart wife of 31 years this past Sunday. It was a special anniversary brunch, after 10;00 AM mass at Saint Patrick's cathedral. I had the French onion soup, and the eggs Benedict, with a bloody Mary and champagne. My wife had a nice garden salad, with champagne and ice water. We finished with a chocolate tort type dessert (Well, fessing up, I did!) The atmosphere was elegant, the service very attentive, but unobtrusive. The bill was near $170, with a 20% tip. Expensive, but you're at Rock Center, two Sundays before Christmas! We felt it's a very nice, special occasion restaurant. It's been a go to place for us twice in the past three years. (Last year, our 30th anniversary, was spent in Paris. No New York trip last year.)

It was snowing and blowing outside but in Ruhlmann we were having a great meal served by great staff who seemed happy to be there and happy we were there. The lobster mac and cheese was super. And the Rock Center tree right outside didn't hurt either. The wild mushroom risotto was perfect for the cold night. We will definitely be back

We snuck in a wonderful two hour cocktail and dinner date between our holiday viewing of the Rockefeller Center tree and ice skaters, and a raucous night of laughter at Kinky Boots. It's easy to walk from the Ruhlmann through the vibrant Times Square crowds to the theaters. Our cocktails were chilled to perfection, the dinner was very good (actually much better than I thought it might be) and the chocolate macaron dessert was truly exceptional. The staff were very attentive and yet non- intrusive. We dined at our leisure. Next time we are in Rockefeller Center we will go back for another bite.

Greeted by manager warmly (as usual, I recognize him from past dining) Opentable notes read(did best to accommodate) Food as usual was excellent- branzino cooked to perfection along with delicious tuna tacos and refreshing salad(great chef)Everyone enjoyed their meals. Came this time with 8 mo old son and a bit disappointed in no accommodations for children (ie changing, chair) ok NP I get it (but still)The reason for lack of stars is our waiter. I would consider unfriendly, phony, not very good on every level. I was surprised (not the norm here)

I had made reservations in advance and was not informed the establishment was holding a cocktail party which meant there was no seating to see the tree. Upon arrival the main entrance was closed and we were redirected. We were greeted by the coat check girl... Stood for 6 minutes and had to ask to be seated . The tables were so close together my sister had to lift her arm over her handbag to eat her food. I had to get up... Pull out the table and let her out to use the ladies room, and follow the same procedure for her to get back in. I will never go back. The best part of our experience was our waiter. He was outstanding.

Brasserie Ruhlmann at Christmas time wouldn't necessarily be your first choice, especially for a native New Yorker, given its location in Rockefeller Center. However, with an out of town guest it was my restaurant of choice. On a very busy Saturday night, they offered fine food (onion soup is excellent) and great service. What impressed the most was that the maitre'd came over to give me the bill and indicated that the dessert was on the house since they were late in bringing the requested cheese to the table. Admittedly, delivery of the cheese was not problematic for me. However, thought it was very thoughtful and certainly appreciated that they noticed.

The Brasserie was kind enough to take us in early and give us the table with the view of the tree that I had requested. The service was outstanding. The food was good. At first I had ordered crab cake and they came back to tell me they were out of it. My wife ordered a fish entree and wasn't as impressed. I was impressed with the variety of the wines they sold by the glass. My only complaints would the fact that the menu was limited and they were out of something on the menu and did not tell us when they seated us. The noise level was higher than I had expected. I was disturbed by the gratuity suggested on the bill. It said recommended gratuity 18%, but the amount they recommended was more than 20% gratuity.

The service was a disappointment. After taking our order the server disappeared and we had to seek out other servers for condiments, drink refills etc. We did not receive a glass of wine that we ordered with dinner and had to ask for it twice before it was finally served. We had to wait more than 30 minutes after finishing appetizers for our entrées to arrive. The appetizers arrived promptly but our 3 course dinner took about 2 hours. I ordered the Seafood Putenesca that was to include scallops, but it did not have any scallops. The dish cost $32 and I had 2 small shrimp, 2 clams with shells that were broken and 4 mussels. My daughter had the shrimp cocktail and the shrimp had no flavor and were mushy in texture.

i picked the restaurant because of the location to THE CHRISTMAS TREE area. I wanted to take my two grandchildren to brunch/lunch. I would have preferred brunch menu as we had a noon reservation. The food and service were fine but I did not want to spend the amount of money that I did for lunch. We we going to a show afterwards and would have preferred a less expensive menu. Even a simple hamburger was $22. It was my fault for not checking out the prices on the menu.

Shopping and show near Rock Center and wanted a central spot for luch. Arrived for first reservations at 11:45 which was smart as by 12:30 the restaurant was packed. Asked for a window table and received it . Service was outstanding, the chicken panini and amazing french fries great as well as was the decedant apple tart we shared for dessert. Pretty high ceiling room and the bar looked nice as well. Would definately recommend and return - You can see the Christmas Tree from some of the windows as it is right in the Plaza - It was surrounded by scaffolding this day but would be lovely when done - a nice respite from the crazy holiday crowds in a week or too! Make a reservation then or you probably will not get in!

We had a 6pm reservation here before an 8pm Broadway show. We walked to restauant from our hotel off Times Square. We were celebrating our daughter's 13th birthday! Restaurant is beautiful-art deco like, old-school fancy NYC right on Rockefeller Plaza-very pretty at night! Service was amazing, food amazing and they even had a beautiful bday dessert for my daughter (we called ahead and told them it was her bday-from the second we walked up, everyone there started wishing her a happy bday-made it very special). When we arrived at 6pm, it was abit quiet since it was so early, but it quickly filled up w/diners and bar patrons. We finished around 7:20pm-enough time to walk over to the Broadway Theater and catch our show. Wonderful night!

Most of the time we go to the same places, but given that is the end of the summer we deceided to give this place a try. The location is one of the best in NYC, we sat outside and love the view of the Rockefeller Plaza. The menu is not extensive, but very good dish selections. I tried the Skate and I love it. This was a client dinner, the manager & waiter were told before the other couple arrived. It seems that the restaurant's policy is no substitutions/ changes on the orders. It started first with the mini Kobe burger sliders, you get 3 burgers, we asked waiter to add an additonal burger which we would pay for. He couldn't do this so we had to get 2 orders of the Kobe burgers. Happened again when someone in our party wanted a vegy or salad instead of mash potatoes. We were charged extra for a really tiny salad. At the end of the meal there was a mistake with the after drink, our host ordered another drink and was charged for both. It's incredible that an upscale restaurant though polite can't be more accomodating.

The Hanger Steak was tasty. And the desserts - Chocolate Macaron and the Raspberry Vacherin were to die for. Although the portions seemed small, they were tasty and filling. Looking forward on returning to try the Watermelon Gazpacho.
