Overall the food was a disappointment. Neither original nor creative, just a little bland. Not nearly good enough for the price. Our server was a delight, but she was the exception. The 'room' was devoid of atmosphere, although the fireplace was welcoming! A pianist / singer tried her best to enliven the place, but the bar remained ominously empty and the diners seemed disinterested. Something was lacking and I wonder how long this restaurant will survive in it's present incarnation.

A splendidly prepared and served meal in a lovely dining room in a former Vanderbilt mansion. The beef tenderloin and venison loin were prepared precisely to each diner's request. Very attentive yet not intrusive serving staff. Highly recommend when in Newport.

A little disapointing. Not as good as it aimed to be. The food didn't really sing the way some high end places do. The wait staff was very attentive, but almost to a fault. Their formality seemed very rehearsed and not natural. It seems like everyone tried very hard wait staff, cooks, bartenders, etc., but the results were just no there. If I were to spend that type of money again I would likely go else where.

A romantic spot with a wonderful pianist playing in the background, and a charming dinning room to make the evening extra special. You had a choice of a four course or a five course menu, a la carte was not an option, we took the four. The appetizer of scallops however was a poor choice on the night, they were dry and overcooked - since I only received two of them I was a little disappointed, the second course of mushrooms was tasteless. The portions were light, a good thing for anyone watching their calorie count. The balance of the meal consisted of the the sirloin, cheese, and dessert which were excellent and they saved the night. The service was very attentive, the best we have received in Newport to date.

We did the 5 course tasting with the reserved wine paring. Both were excellent and the staff was extremely attentive. I only have two quips -- first, we were among three couples in the dining room. The fact that there were barely any other people did not help the stuffy atmosphere. Second, my girlfriend and I are in our mid/early 20's...we were carded. Yes, carded for ordering the $80/person wine tasting. It was really pretty ridiculous. Even better, when we were leaving, they asked us to sign a book certifying our ages and that the IDs we presented were valid. It's just kind of crass when you are celebrating an anniversary.

Muse is a perfect fit for a special night out. Elegant and modern: the design of the space offers a relaxed upscale environment. The staff is friendly, pleasant and helpful. The menu options work well; the food was delicious, and the wine list was perfect. We went to celebrate our anniversary, and the special personal touch in the menu is greatly appreciated. This is our new favorite restaurant.

Though it was great food and outstanding service...atmosphere was "blah"...room felt "dead"...in Newport, with all of those great views, it's tough to be in a room that - though very pretty - feels boxed in...

Muse has outstanding food. The chef is of White Bran fame, one of our favorite meals of all time. It can be a quiet place, but it's quite nice. We recommned it.

A wonderful dining experience. The room is modern classy and incredibly tasteful - there is no bad table in the restaurant. The food was excellent, though some of the portions sizes seemed odd (e.g., a cheese mousse served as an appetizer in a triple shot glass with enough toast for a tenth of it). The only real knock I give Muse is the enforced jacket policy for men, particularly in the summer.

We dined here only 3 weeks after the restaurant opened under a new chef and had a great experience. The service was outstanding - extremely attentive to us. The menu was creative, the food was excellent, and the choice of the 4, 5, or 7 course meal was nice. They incorporated local specialties very well. The filet was delicious and perfectly prepared with a fois gras glaze. Dessert was probbaly the biggest let down. It wasn't bad, but compared to the rest of the meal, it was nothing special. The amuse-bouche dessert was excellent though! The setting in the old mansion is nice for a romantic dinner for two or just a dinner get together. All in all a great dining experience and I'd highly recommend it.
