A word from MINT
The only Indian restaurant to be awarded by Time Out New York. The 110 seat restaurant is located within the newly renovated San Carlos Hotel with a street and lobby entrance. The exotic atmosphere whisks you to Southeast Asia as soon as you open the door and spot the stone waterfall cascading down the wall. Orange, red, and fuscia drum lights are snuggled together throughout the long dining room, and painted panels of mint, yellow, and green hang over striped banquettes. There is a semi-private room complete with audio video equipment that seats 12. Mint is a labor of love for Gary Sikka, and he is taking great pride in bringing an exemplary dining experience in an atmosphere that is both tranquil and exhilarating. The definition of mint is "an aromatic refreshing herb that serves as a central ingredient in accompaniment sauces in Indian cuisine." That can also be said of the new restaurant that is its namesake.

The food was great but it took 30 mins to come out and there were only 4 other tables in the dining room. We only ordered entress and there's no reason it should have taken that long.

  • Recently I reserved for dinner

Recently I reserved for dinner because I was looking for an excellent Indian restaurant near our hotel. Our favorite in the city has been Tamarind, and remains so. Originally we were seated next to a very large and very loud party. Before we ordered we asked to move and were accommodated, thankfully. Appetizers were ordered--excellent. Main courses were ordered and served. My chicken dish was so dry I had to send it back. A replacement arrived in a few minutes. I believe they pre-cook the chicken as some of the pieces have that 'leftover' taste. A lobster dish was scanty on the lobster (compared to Tamarind). Dal had a lot of sauce/few lentils. Overall--tasty. Upon departure there was a man sleeping at the bar.

I made this reservation a couple of months before visiting New York after finding MINT on the NY website. As a big fan of Indian Cuisine, I wasn't disappointed. Living in Manchester and frequenting the Curry Mile I am used a large choice of dishes so in comparison the menu at MINT is smaller but still with ample choice.Neither my husband or I were disappointed. I ordered the Chicken Labdardar and it was full of flavour with the garlic naan as a perfect sundrie. From start to finish I enjoyed every single mouthful and was upset when I ate my last bite. The service was attentive at every step, and the staff were all very friendly. The food and the surroudings made for a lovely dining experience. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

Food was good and most of servers were really kind but I didn't like the waiter who was incharge of our table. He was high-handedness attitude,no smile, never say "Thaks". It was my second time to visit this restaurant but unfortunately, I won't recommend for other people because I don't want to share my unhappy experience. It's really too bad.

I've eaten here 4-5 times and the food is always excellent but the service is non existent, pleasant but just not on the ball -- you have to ask 2-3 times for water or your bill and its not because its super busy, they just don't seem to pay attention. Other than that its a wonderful place, great location -- LOVE the food.

Being Indian it's tough to be pleased with Indian restaurant food however the toughest critics are my inlaws. They almost never eat out and don't generally like eating Indian food out since my mother in law is a fantastic cook. I was hesitant when I took them to Mint for a pre theater dinner. Imagine my surprise; they loved it. They want to go back.

The entire dining experience at MINT is outstanding! I have eaten Indian cusine all over the world...and MINT joins the few atop my list. I was dining with 2 friends from London...where the Indian food is top notch...and they share my thoughts on MINT. Mr. Sikka personally greeted our party (and most others) at the door and was very pleased we chose his establishment. From that moment on...the attentive staff was professional (while remaining friendly), extremely courteous and very efficient. I WILL be returning there again before I leave NYC this trip...and every time I come to NYC. Here's to Mr. Sikka and his staff's continued success! Thank you!!! Sincerely, Eric G.

The atmosphere adds to the delight of Mint. The food is delicious, - I would certainly admit to asking for a moderately spicy meal, and savoring every bit of it. They were able to accommodate both the carnivores and vegetarians alike. The breads are some of the best part of the meal. I appreciate that when I go to Mint, the kitchen has made a dish even if you want a late afternoon tea. I always order takeout, so this reflects good food as well as ambiance. I highly recommend Mint for those looking for good food,- a small get together or a crowd, and a decent wine list.

Mint was the best Indian Cuisine I have had the pleasure of eating. The food was purely fantastic! The menu had a huge selection, and some new dishes I have never seen before. The restaurant itself was beautiful and intimate with appropriate music. I will most certainly be returning to this restaurant. The prices were expected, and well worth every penny. I highly recommend Mint! Try the Chicken Samosa.

Overall it was very good. They did however try to seat us in the back room where the room temperature was easily over 80 degrees!!!We refused to sit there! They did move us to the area of our choice towards the front....This is clearly a problem the restaurant is having...it was however a very nice meal. Thank you.
