  • The food is the star attraction

The food is the star attraction here, but the service is also excellent, and the new room is much quieter than the main dining room. They also do a nice job of pairing food and wine. I believe this restaurant would compare favorably with any in Boston's South End, but we suburbanites are glad to have it here in Central Mass.

  • Romaines is a great restaurant.

Romaines is a great restaurant. We have been there to celebrate anniversaries and New Year's. We recently brought our two young children and were pleasantly surprised to see they had a children's menu and they didn't seat us in the back near the kitchen door because we had kids. The waitstaff was fun and engaging. The food was hot and cooked to perfection. The special that night was fried soft shell crab. They were delicious. My four year old daughter even ate them and she eats nothing! We'll be going back soon I hope :>)

My only comment would be that one cannot use Open Table to make reservations for parties greater than 4, at this restuarant. This is one of my favorite restaurants and we often try to have family gatherings for 6-12 people. I have never been able to book these larger parties using your site. I need to call the reataurant directly in these instances. Not terrible to have to call, but just a deviation from this reservation process that I have grown to love. Other than that, we LOVE Romaine's. The food is always excellent. The menu selections are great. The latest menu update added some great selections.

I've been to Romaine's numerous times. They have wonderful ambiance. It's a great place to take a special date or go for an annaversary dinner. The food while very expensive is fabulous. The entree's are a good portion but the appetizers are rather small for the price. They do have a slight tendancy to put a bit too much garlic on a lot of their dishes. However, they have the very best food in the area andI've never had a bad meal. Their wait staff is attentive without being annoying and what I really appreciate is that they know about the dishes. They have tried them so they can answer your questions without hesitation and they try very hard to make you happy. Keep up the good work.

Have eaten at Romaine's half-dozen times but this was first time in new dining area. Very disappointed in being seated there. Was nearly empty. Felt like dining in a vacant warehouse, was a bit chilly. Waitstaff resetting tables around us, almost seemed our party of four was in the way. Glad they didn't bring out the vacuum. ps - bar was full and there were probably another 20 patrons in the main dining room so we were not overly late or the last table there. Would eat there again only if not in the airplane hangar.

We have a second home in the South End of Boston, but we live in the Western Suburbs of Boston. Romaine's remains one our favorite restaurants. The quality of the food, the presentation, and service is as good as any place in Boston. We dine out a lot, which is one of the reasons for living in Boston's South End. With all to choose from, we have become very discerning as to where we dine, and Romaine's is at the top of the list. All I can say to the owners is "Bravo" and continue to provide the excellent dining experience.

I originally read about this restaurant in Yankee magazine, it took me over a year to finally eat here and I was delighted!! The food is outstanding!!! The brie and caramelized onion appetizer were fabulous as well as the best veal rib chop I have ever tasted. This is a restaurant worth going back to and the prices were very reasonable.

Our table was in a very dark corner and we could barely see the menus; had to ask for an extra candle! The rest of the dining room was well-lit, though. Food was good but not exceptional. My husband had a salmon/crab cake speciality, and he thought the crab cake could have used some sauce. Otherwise everything was good. The waitress was efficient and friendly.

We always get treated well when we go to Romaine's. The dining room was cold and we asked if the air conditioning could be lowered. The waitress took care of the problem immediately. We like the changes made to the restaurant. I just wish they would add a new vegetarian option, the polenta and mushrooms is really the only choice.

The food was good- outstanding for Northboro but, for someone who has lived in Brookline, merely good- and just that. The place is too noisy and the server, while very sweet, was obviously new and nervous- she should not have been given a prime table on Saturday night- bad management decision. Put this restaurant in the city and it would be dead. Out beyond 495 it may, and just may, survive. I will go back, but perhaps off hours.

We were seated immediately! But their vibrant bar scene meant that we and our guests waited over long for our drinks to arrive. When asked, our waitress said that bar tender was flat out busy! Other wise Romaine's was fine and up to it's regular standards. Also our waitress was spot on in remembering that I said that I would like one of the specials--tuna-- for dinner and, though we had not yet ordered, she had the kitchen set it aside for me as it was the last available serving. Romaine's is on our short list of places to dine locally.

The main dining room is definite a great spot to linger. The food was excellent and so were the cocktails/wine. Our server was friendly and knowledgable. Romaine's is in a small suburban town, but the food stands up to any I've had in the South End (Boston). Of special note, they recently added a few vegetarian offerings to their menu in response (I think) to the urging of a few us loyal customers who wanted our vegetarian loved-ones to be able to have the same wonderful dining experience as the omnivores among us. The service is warm and friendly without being overly familiar. A true find.
