A word from Shiok Singapore Kitchen
Shiok! Singapore Kitchen offers a selection of authentic Singaporean food in a casual and friendly environment. We hope you will enjoy our home-cooked flavors and find it a Shiok experience too.

Singapore is a multi-ethnic society made up of Chinese, Malay, and Indian, whose immigrant forefathers brought with them rich food traditions from across Asia.

Typical Singaporean food is thus an exciting blend of culinary heritage based on some of Asia's greatest cuisine. This combination creates a unique and dynamic flavor more lively and far richer than the traditions from which they stem.

My husband and I really enjoyed our meal. This was our first visit so we chose the prix fixe menu to get an idea of the food. Everything was very tasty including the tofu dish which was fried to pefection. The sangria served with the meal was less than great but adequate. Most of the other diners were drinking out of coconuts, so there are probably other choices. The prices were more than reasonable. All in all,a very pleasant place to have a meal.

Shiok has definitely raised their prices since we've been there last, but their food was just as good or better than ever. Think a little sister to Tamarine in Palo Alto when it comes to their food. They have a good selection of small and medium sized plates for sharing lots of different things. We had Mango Mohitos to start which were VERY good. The Roti Prata on the appetizer menu is a MUST. My husband doesn't eat fish, but there were plenty of options on the menu for him. All the dishes we tried were flavorful and good.

  • There's a marked lack of Singaporea

There's a marked lack of Singaporean restaurants in the Bay Area. Shiok tries to fill that void, but it's not successful. Their laksa is flavourless and filled with overly-chewy ingredients, a far cry from a real laksa. The chili crab is overcooked. Their vegetarian dishes are uninspired. In all, everything was bland and not worth the drive to Menlo Park.

Great food as usual and as close to having authentic, local, singaporean food as flying to Singapore and eating there.

A great alternative to much more prevalent chinese and Japanese restaurants in the "downtown" Menlo Park area. Malay, Singaporean, and other influences create many different tastes, aromatic but not particularly spicy. The $50 _per couple_ prix fixe is one of the best dining values around where Shiok brings together many of their popular dishes, including the must have appetizers of crisped tofu and Roti Prata, chicken satay and Shiok Beef plus noodles -- great deal. Also fun to try Ku Rocks, the Korean sweet potato vodka on ice.
